The best snap knife on the market
il y a 7 ans
As a carpenter, i always have at least three knives on me at any point in the day: one or two in my belt and one in my pants pocket. The olfa has quickly become a favorite. The black blades are frighteningly sharp and the paint can opener is a feature I miss when the Olfa isn't at hand. (what I wouldn't give for a pry bar on my fastback compact). The only downside the length of the tool and the inherent flimsiness of the 18mm blade. It doesn't slip into a pocket quite like a folding pocket knife does (which is fine). I do wish Olfa would come out with a 25mm version of this knife. For drywall work and general carpentry, nothing beats that beefy 1"x6" blade
I found the OLFA knife to be extremely sharp and very handy as an every day carry knife. The break away feature is great to always ensure that you have a sharp blade / point. I found the butt end very handy for opening paint cans and as a small screwdriver. It is a great feature to have in a knife. I typically carry a folding knife that uses replaceable utility knife blades but often find that i do not have a sharp edge left and there is no place on the knife to carry a spare. with the OLFA and the break away blade feature i do not have this problem near as often. It may become my everyday carry, replacing the folder.
I received this utility knife as a sample from Olfa through another tradesman. I've had it for a number of months and used it for a variety of projects during that time. I am predominantly a woodworker, but also do other crafts and building projects. The biggest con I have with this knife is it is so good I have to keep my father from stealing it from me. We share a shop and I always find it in his tools. Seriously I recommend this knife to anyone who needs a solid knife, easiest to use, comfortable in hand and downright durable. As the title suggests MacGyver would have been shorter episodes if this was his knife (though the Swiss army was a solid choice). #sweepstakes
Got the knife free on a trial. I'm a carpenter, I go through at least a blade a day on a regular utility knife. I've been using this for 2weeks and I've only had to snap off one section of blade! Super sharp blade, overall construction is way stronger than it appears. Only issues I'm having is the opener/screwdriver end gets hung up on my pocket that I've never had that issue with my usual utility knife. And the self locking blade doesn't really lock open, although it's plenty strong to keep the blade shut. I will be purchasing the model with the twist lock. The light weight and sharpness and durability of this knife has warranted my investment in the more upgraded model!
AvantagesAttractive, Durable, Much stronger than expected, Super-super sharp
DésavantagesAuto lock, doesn't really lock, Can opener tab hangs up on pockets

Probably the best utility knife around
il y a 6 ans
Like most people, I have a drawer full of utility knives, some old and corroded with pieces of drywall stuck in the cracks and others all nice and shiny. Each has their advantages and disadvantages but most have a rattly blade and a flimsy locking mechanism. I'd read great things about OLFA scissors and was browsing the site and found these. I needed a knife while I was on travel so I popped by a home improvement store and bought one of these. While the reviews said the blades were sharp, I never realized that they meant this sharp - or this durable. I ended up mailing the knife and the box of spare blades home - and ended up buying three more of these - one for each level of the house.
This. Knife. Rocks. Seriously, I didn't think it possible to fall in love with a knife, but oh how was I wrong. It's the sharpest knife I have ever used, and it stays that way. You could likely cut through a car with it. Apart from the knife part, the utility piece on the end is the most useful thing I could ask for. Paint cans, staple removal, screw tightening/loosening, crevis cleaning, you name it. I use it way more than I ever thought I would, and I definitely thought it was a gimmick, but I won't carry a different utility blade again. If you are on the fence, buy it. If you dont want it, buy it. It'll change your mind all on its own, amd you won't believe you used anything different!
AvantagesAttractive, Cooler than the North Pole, Durable, Easy To Clean, Multi-purpose, Sharper than Einstein, Stronger than Fort Knox
DésavantagesThe best products dont have cons

Great multi use utility knife

I use this knife in my woodworking shop, it actually has a home in my apron! The blade is very sharp and very stiff for using as a marking knife. I love the pry tool on the end, no more using that slotted screwdriver for opening the wax can or stains and paint, also it is very useful prying apart 2 pieces of wood that are double-sided taped to each other! Very comfortable grip and a visible color to boot! Blade changes are easy, although, the first time was a bit of a learning experience, but after that a breeze. The blade also snaps off easily where it should when you want it to, exposing a fresh sharp point. I never feel like it would snap under any forces I apply to it. Overall, I love it!
Currently have been doing a lot of vinyl plank flooring in a lot of apartments and always using a utility knife to score then snap the planks. Most utility knifes can only hold 3-4 blades at most and found myself always having to constantly refill and replace the blades. With my new OlLFA blade it is as simple as just snapping my dull blade off and having a fresh one ready to go, not to mention having 10+ replacements on one stick. Also the othe other features on the blade make it simple to pull trim off as I go! I highly recommend this product if a utility knife is one of your go to tools!
