Couteau L-1

I’ve had this knife for 10+ years. I teach sculpture and with a switch to online teaching it is the main tool that I use beside a hot glue gun. We went low tech over the last year in order to make the sculpture classes accessible for students who had access to few resources. This knife is recommended to students for dependability and safety. I have been using the L-1s for more years than I can count. I carry 6-10 on any given day. (Not because they crap out, I just lose them all the time...lol). Don't trust my fingers to any other knife out there. Or blades for that matter. My work supplies cheap knock off blades but I purchase my own Olfa blades because I know and trust what they can do.

As a cabinetmaker this knife Doesn’t leave my person. I like this model the best because it’s sleek and smooth and I can’t even tell it’s in my pocket. I use it for everything from cleaning the tip of a glue bottle to cross cutting veneer. I even carve with it from time to time it’s that sharp. A great knife and a must have for any wood shop.

As an artist I am always working and carrying an olfa 18mm cutter at my studio and/or exhibitions. It's just this kind of classic that you cannot dismiss.. Well actually so muck that I've got this exact model tattooed on my forearm... But that's a story for another time ! Would definitely recommend to a fellow artist or a friend.

This knife is the perfect go to knife for any project. I’ve had ones that last 10+ years without issue. Now of course that doesn’t include the blade lifespan but those are easy and quick to change out and the breakaway blades are a great way to keep a sharp edge. Durable, simple, and cost effective this knife is my number 1 choice.

This one is the best of all them in my eyes! Has such a perfect grip and lays in your hand so perfectly as well! I lose them all the time and keeping buying the same one cause its definitely my favorite! This is on my hip every single day cause it's a must have tool at all times of the work day! I've used this, or a similar incarnation, of this knife for over 20 years. My time spent in retail grocery saw it go from the grocery department to even the produce guys. Followed me to an aerospace facility. A hospital stores department. And has been in my tool box the entire time. I can't say enough about these knives.

First used one when I started work for a disaster cleanup company. These are what they used for drywall removal. Awesome knife. Fits the hand nice and the ratchet strew retainer is the best way I’ve ever seen to adjust a blade. Never have to worry about it slipping. Now I always have one with me in my toolbox.
