Powerful saw, but the chain will not stay tight
il y a 4 ans
I have so many m18 and m12 tools, when I needed a chainsaw this was a no brainer. The 12ah battery lasts a decent amount of time and with a sharp chain cuts through trees like butter. It has one huge issue though that makes it almost useless. The chain will not stay tight. I have tossed the chain so many times I'm starting to avoid using it. I used the included scrench to adjust the bar tight as I can. I even use enough force to tighten the two bar holding nuts down that I'm nervous I'm going to break it. Sure enough not even by the end of the 12 ah battery I'll throw a chain and repeat the process. I really like how this saw cuts, but after constantly having to put the chain back on, I'm thinking I'd rather go back to a gas powered saw.
I carried a gas chainsaw in my truck for offroading/camping, preparing firewood and it's been replaced by this chainsaw. I was not surprised and surprised simultaneously, I wasn't surprised that Milwaukee made a good tool but I was surprised just how many pro's/benefits this tool has over my 42cc gas chainsaw, I compared the two and the m18 chainsaw cut slightly faster even with the gas having a freshly sharpened chain but the main benefits of the m18 chainsaw are:
Very quiet
On/off (not constantly running)
No warming up/adjusting choke
Not having to worry about refilling or keeping mixed gas on hand
It is Faster to GRAB and USE period.
I notice I use it more because it is faster to use and more convenient, that in itself makes it more useful.
This is my fourth electric chainsaw I have owned and by far is the best. The first three were all Ryobi, the first being the 14 inch 40V which the battery only lasted 10-15 min on that one, but took 1.5-2 hrs to charge so I swapped it for the 10 inch 18V, which was a great little saw for limboing, but not for bucking firewood. Lastly I tried the 12 inch model, which all around was a decent saw, but it leaked oil and chewed through 4 ah batteries like they were candy.
Not the Milwaukee 16 inch 18V! Coupled with the 12 ah HO battery it chews through anything it touches with ease. Oak, cherry, maple, pine, alder, cedar whatever it doesn’t hold back whatsoever like the Ryobi models did. Also, zero oil leak so far. This saw is a winner in my book.
Chainsaw came with the battery which was called the “kit”. Battery lasts a while and I was not disappointed by the life of the battery. Don’t expect this saw to be your answer to an electric production cutting saw. It will fell, buck and limb trees but not like a gas powered saw. I bought it to fall smaller trees and to limb trees around the yard and at camp. It accomplishes this fine and would recommend this product to anyone based on that type of use scenario. The tooth on the chain is a bit of an odd size so you just have to ensure you are buying the right file for the tooth. Other than that, charge the battery out of the box, add bar oil and you are good to go. No choke, mixing fuel or cleaning an old spark plug. Starts right away every time.
This easy to use 14” chainsaw saved my husband and me thousands of dollars. We were hit hard by the Texas ice storm in February and we were able to do all the cleanup ourselves. One battery was all we needed; a single charge lasted as long as we did each day and recharge was very quick. The county pitched in with pickup and we managed to fill over one 3 yard dump truck with what it took us 10 days to cut. I have several Milwaukee tools and am already making plans for my next purchase, a circular saw. Thanks guys for your excellent tools!
I use this saw on the farm, clearing old trees in my bushes, bush lines of fields, and cutting fire wood.Great for all that smaller work. Battery life is excellent. i love not needing gas and how the torque and chain speed is next to instant. Thing that mostly frustrates me is if your not cutting straight,(Not having a slight twist or small bend while cutting in odd positions) every time all the way through, the chain can pop off pretty easy. So it’s annoyingly to have to chain on back on here and there. But otherwise the saw is amazing.
I bought this chainsaw to clear a few trees and underbrush on my property. I couldn’t be happier with it! It’s perfect for small jobs, and yet I cut a couple of ten inch trees as well with it with no problems . I like not having to worry about having mixed fuel on hand, and since I already own many other Milwaukee tools I always have batteries ready. I’ve used it on three weekends already and have no complaints. I’d highly recommend it to anyone whose looking for a heavy duty saw to use on occasional jobs and is looking for convenience.
So we had a really bad storm at the start of the New Year, wind, rain, etc. As a result, a 50' tree on my property blew down. Not wanting to use my ten year old gas chainsaw which has seen better days, I purchased the M18 FUEL™ 16" Chainsaw (Tool Only). Unboxing and slapping an already owned M18 18-Volt 5.0 Ah Lithium-Ion XC battery I was able to cut and clear the tree in just under two hours. Unfortunately I wished I had a higher amp hour battery (had to recharge the 5.0ah) but it got the job done. Would I recommend the saw, heck yes!
I recently purchased 13 Milwaukee tools. This is the only tool that disappointed me. I bought one and it leaked oil all the time so I exchanged it at the store. The second saw also leaks but I was outside the return policy so I was stuck with it. My solution is to always store the saw on cardboard. The saw throws the chain lot and is not at all forgiving for a dull chain. If the chain is dull at all it does not have the power to cut hardwood. My other Milwaukee tools have been great but this one is a dud. Go get a gas powered chainsaw.
Hi Trevor W, this is Jacob with Milwaukee Tool. Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear about your frustrations with your chainsaw. We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your frustrations with it, and to provide you with support. I'll follow up with you via email. Thank you.

A solid saw
il y a un an
This is a powerful saw when used as intended to cut small trees up to 10” when using the 12 amp hour battery. The balance and overall feel is good. Not too heavy but not as light as a lower powered battery saw. As a personal preference I like an underside trigger lock release rather than the side unlock on this one, but that’s picky. It tends to get a lot of wood refuse buildup inside the chain case mechanism but I don’t know how that can be avoided. I always blow my saws out with an air compressor anyway. All in all, a solid machine.
Already have a large chainsaw so Wanted an electric saw for smaller jobs.
It works well has great battery life.
I'm a little disappointed that it gets rated lower than 4 or 5 others brands in cutting power, speed ergonomic design and a big one is weight it is pretty heavy.
I have alot of milwaukkee products already so I can make use of the battery wich is a plus.
If I wasn't already invested in milwaukee I would have bought stihl or husqvarna their lighter more compact better cutting, more ergonomic. I love milwaukee and want to be able to buy it nowing it's the best. Milwaukee please keep making awsome products and don't t settle for second place.
A little more R&D could have got you on top for this one. Still good just not the best out there.
As a tradesman in the mining industry, I own many Milwaukee cordless tools. They stand up much better than any I’ve tried. This saw is no exception. That being said, if I was an arborist or someone who relied on wood solely to heat my house, at this price point I would opt for a gasser. All in all I love this saw and would highly recommended it for property management and the odd heavier use. Like others have commented, really nice to not have to deal with the inevitable 2 stroke carb issues of a machine that sees only occasional use.
You just hear the chain doing it's job. Quick and easy. No fuel to mix, spill or carry. A real joy to use. Hit the trigger and your cutting. Cleaned up 150' of property line of dead and volunteer scrub trees. 6 hours and 1/2 a battery. Just make sure to by a couple extra chains, just in case. Hit a nail that was hidden in a 50+ year old tree. Can't go to the hardware for a new one, they are proprietary to Milwaukee. Will never be without extras. Buy this saw and it will out work you and look better at the end of a hard day cutting!
Bought this tool for my Wife on her birthday. She requested it and I thought this would be a great way to get her interested in operating a chainsaw. She didn't like gas saws as they were hard to start and the vibration was a little much for her hands. Gave her a lesson on use and safety and away she went. It didn't take long for her to get used to it and now there is less work around the yard that I have to do. We also carry it on our SXS and she gets out and does the cutting while I clear the path of debris. It was a good buy.
I bought the chainsaw to cut up a tree that was given to me for firewood. I paid more for it than what I think I should have. For the price, I should have gotten a second 12Ah battery. I can cut for about 10 to 15 minutes and then I have to place the battery on the charger. Even if I use the other 5 batteries (3- 9Ah batteries, 2- 5Ah batteries) that have for work, I can still only cut for about 40 minutes. I love the fact that I can be using it and still hear others around me, I don't have to mix gas and oil, and I don't have to run to the gas station. I don't like that I can only cut for a short time and then have to charge batteries for 3 hrs. This thing is made for short term use and for smaller trees. I would not recommend for trees that are hardwood.

Milwaukee chainsaw
il y a 4 ans
Ok, I have used gas saws my whole life but decided to try this one after my latest gas one died. Milwaukee is my brand so I wanted to try a Milwaukee chainsaw. am so impressed. I Watched a lot of reviews and went with it and I’m so glad I did. I cut 4 trees down as big around as a frisbee and after de-limboing and bucking up all 4 trees to 13” pieces I still had 3 bars left. Unimaginable yet true. I am stunned. It ripped through them like a hot knife through joe Butter. Milwaukee...you! You! You rock at everything you make.
I am a landowner who has to cut down 4-5 trees per year. I’ve owned this saw for a couple months now. I own 3 Stihl gas chainsaws. I may never use them again! I’ve cut down 18 inch diameter trees with this saw without blinking an eye. Nice to just be able to set the saw down and just pick it up and instantly go back to sawing. Super quiet! No fuel mixing. No fumes. I’ve even used it indoors in my shop! I’ve yet to stall this beast! I have a 12 amp battery for it, I always give out before it does. Get one!! You’ll thank me!
Seems like a good chainsaw. Like that its battery operated(M18). Cuts pretty well so far. Just drips a lot more bar and chain fluid then I'm used to. Have only had Stihl and Dewalt chainsaws in the past but never noticed nearly this much. Just beware where you store it after use cause you will get a puddle or two under it. Emailed them to see if this was normal and they said yes. Will keep using it since I have mostly M18 tools these days and it's too late to return it, but will probably go back to Stihl next time around.
So far it's a decent tool, this is my second Milwaukee Chainsaw. The first one lasted just beyond the warranty period and died, with light to medium use. It was just a little more money to get a new saw rather than pay to have it repaired. This new one, like the first one, has already started leaking bar oil in just a couple weeks of ownership. Seems like there could be some improvement there. On the plus side, the saw is powerful, I can have it in the cab of the tractor and there's no gasoline smell, but still has the power of a gas saw. With the 12.0 batteries, battery life is great.
I own a lot of Milwaukee tools, I'm not a novice. In the end, I'm hopeful that this one lasts beyond the 3 year period. If it doesn't, it will be the last one I purchase.
Cordless yard tools have replaced gas noise makers
il y a 5 ans
I already own a cordless yard trimmer and will never go back to gas. I was curious about the chainsaw products, read the reviews, and viewed some YouTube stuff.
If you want to be convinced, watch the one produced by Dirt Monkey.
I particularly use my Milwaukee cordless chainsaw for tre topping.
We have a lot of birch trees and we have to keep the height under control. This saw can handle anything from branches and limbs to thickt trunks. I recommend getting the D12 battery for best run time.
Very Impressive Saw!
This saw has the power. It uses a unique blade for 16" saws so you won't find a replacement at your local store at least they don't have them at mine. But it cuts like a hot knife though butter. I cut through a 17" log with it no problem other than it cut crooked which was expected. Only time it over torqued and shut off was when the blade got dull from hitting a metal screw. When its dull it seems to know the difference and just refuses to cut with a dull blade. Only other issue I had with the saw was chip ejection when cutting at 90° they would get jammed up in the casement and need to been cleared out when cutting at its full potential it was a non issue when I slowed down how fast I was making the cuts. Bottom line I will be replacing my 37cc 16" saw with this one.
Cuts great and fast! Bring a nail along to get out the "scrench" (in the bottom) as you need steel fingers to pull it out otherwise. You will inevitability lose your chain as it will stretch right away and be loose. So you need to tighten it almost immediately after cutting (or you will NEED the scrench to remove the cover and thread the chain back on; TIP remove the Oregon bar from the pin [used for stretching] then after you thread the chain back on the bar AND the back cog, insert the bar back onto the stretching pin which you previously backed all the way off [reversed]). Bring extra oil (adjustment?) as the saw seems to paint the wood red as it runs (better too much than too little, but check often, you will run out of oil before the 9 amp hr battery goes dead.
Previously I was using a Stihl 16" chainsaw which was my brothers. It was great, since I needed a chainsaw for myself, I decided to look at different types. After thinking about my dislike for the gas and mixing of fuel/oil, I researched battery powered units, and with my current heavy investment into 10+ M18 Fuel tools combined with this unit being brushless - I am beyond happy and found it to be far superior to a gas unit and highly recommend anyone in the market to seriously consider the M18 FUEL 16" chainsaw.
Bought this as a Father’s Day gift for my husband as it has been on the wish list for a while. With the first use we were left wondering why we waited so long. No more messing with gas and pull starts for us. I didn’t feel comfortable using the gas one but I am confident in using this one. Also the battery lasts a long time and it cuts so quick and smooth. This was our first outdoor Milwaukee product and at the end of the month we are hoping to start building our Quik Lok system as we love this chainsaw so much.
Generally good, but fails and must be fixed freque
il y a 3 ans
It cuts fast but I've had the chain come off the sprocket twice, in one case the chain was damaged and it took me an hour of reshaping the links with vise grips and a Dremel grinding tip to get it working smoothly again. On the whole I like it. I was really annoyed however because on the box it advertises the OneKey BlueTooth tool tracking system but after an hour of troubleshooting I found out this tool isn't OneKey compatible. If it doesn't do OneKey, they shouldn't feature OneKey on the box and waste my time.

Absolutely Amazing!
il y a 4 ans
Best electric/battery operated chain saw money can buy. Used to clear some brush and limb up trees on my property. Used with a 12.0 battery and battery lasted for over 6 hours on a single charge. I cut down trees and branches varying from 1"-18" in diameter. Never slowed down. I did manage to pinch the blade once and the chain came off, but very simple to put on. Never have to mix oil and gas again, and another great thing, wife and mother-in-law can use with ease, not having to pull start, or weighing too much.
The saw is actually fantastic as far as cutting, reliability, and maneuverability goes.
But it has a fatal flaw, since the first month of owning it, it leaks out so much bar oil all over. I mean puddles of oil. You cant put it near anything you dont want to get covered in oil. Just search for Milwaukee Chainsaw oil leak and you will find way too many stories.
Its the only Milwaukee tool I regret buying and Im way past warranty. I also feel bad for recommending it to my neighbor, his started leaking right away as well. And now we both just let them sit empty and went back to our old gas models.
Its a shame they have not figured out how to fix this problem, it was such a great saw, but no chainsaw should leak this bad.
Do a little research before you commit to this.
Hi there - Thank you for leaving a review on your M18 FUEL™ 14" Chainsaw. We always recommend emptying the oil tank when storing to prevent leakage. Please review the product manual for more information. Thank you! - The Social Team

Awesome saw, perfect size with plenty of power
il y a 4 ans
I am using this saw for small to medium size projects around the house. I live in a subdivision, and I love how quiet the saw is. I can clean up the backyard without making a spectacle and inviting nosey neighbors to see what kind of projects I’m doing. Plenty of power, and I was able to fell a medium size tree (18”-20” trunk) with ease. Wish it had a longer bar available, but the 16” is pretty good. It does burn up smaller batteries fairly quick, but no complaints here. Awesome addition to my m18 collection.
A great chainsaw! Before purchasing, I was skeptical about a battery-operated chainsaw having enough power to last long. Previously experienced using some that only could cut small brush without dying too quickly. The first day I used an M18 3x battery which was enough for some quick work. The next time the M18 8x battery worked to cut up a 40' tree into manageable pieces. I especially liked that it's only running when you're holding the trigger so it felt more safe and no need for hefty ear protection.
I've had a landscape business for 16 years. I've started replacing equipment with electric. This saw cuts nice. It seems to stay sharp a little longer as the blade doesn't seem to get as hot as a gas engine. It's a pleasure not to have to expend my energy pulling the starting cord and fiddling with a gas engine. Also, so much better for my asthmatic lungs. The only complaint I have is the batteries don't last that long for commercial use. I feel like I still need to bring my gas saw to jobs as a backup.
