Wooden railing detail sander

Needed a sander that would fit between styles of wooden railing on our deck. This fit the bill 100%.
Can be a little dusty, but can be very gentle to aggressive in its sanding. You have to let the sander do its job, and don’t push down on it while sanding. Battery life is very good.

Best detail sander I used so far

Great tool with excellent performance. Used it on drywall, soft and hard woods with outstanding results. Battery lasts forever and the use of abrasive sheets (vs. sand papers) is a huge improvement. Vibration is minimal and noice level is relatively low. Highly recommended.

Orbital Detail Sander for a fine finish

This M12 sander is light weight. I like the small size to get into smaller spaces and sand close to corners. It works great on inside arches or curves. This detail sander has on orbital action which gives a nicer finish. I also noticed the vibration is not bad, which is nice.

Overall decent sander. Ergonomics could be improved but this little sander seems to perform well for its size. Cannot comment on battery life as this is a specialty tool and not something you run hard for hours. It would be nice to have a dust attachment for overhead work.

The Little Weapon I was missing.

This has quickly become one of the go to tools in my collection. Especially for prepping interior painting jobs. So often, older crown molding & trim work is covered with years of sub-par painting layers. Paint runs, over caulking, etc. The M12 Fuel detail sander makes reversing those problem areas so much easier. The tool provides the user with precision & control. From my experience thus far, it has cut my prep time before painting a room in half. (baseboards, chair rails, crown, door casings, etc.) Love that the sanding sheets are able to be reused multiple times after cleaning. Would like to see a better solution for organizing/storing the hook and loop sanding sheets than the netting pocket inside the included soft shell case. Maybe some additional accessories will be created in the future and come bundled in a packout style case to keep everything organized. So far for me, Milwaukee has another home run with this tool & I’m grateful to the engineers who put the proper time and thought into it’s development.

Great for furniture

Excellent tool for getting into tight spaces. If you build furniture, you need this tool. The ability to select from 4 speeds is a nice bonus. The wire mesh pads that are included are even better than traditional sand paper. A solid addition to your M12 collection.

Exactly what was needed!!

Excellent little sander. Does exactly what it's needed to do. If you need a small sander for small projects or for tight areas that need sanding this is the tool to get.
I personally use it at work ( trim out new houses) and it works great when and where needed !!

Much easier to sand smaller pieces. Must have more than one battery around. It burns through them quickly, always have them rotating out and problem solved. I do wish it had a stay on button rather than a hold trigger. Still highly recommend adding to your kit.

Great Tool That Provides Precise Control

I added this tool to my Milwaukee arsenal and love the precise controls it offers. Multiple speeds and a great ergo design make it easy to use and achieve excellent results. Continuous sanding at top speed will drain a 2.0 M12 battery in about 1 hour of use.

Great product, super useful

The sander was absolutely amazing! Great addition to the M12 quiver ! Very powerful, surprisingly balanced and easy to use, and really makes me enjoy sanding for a change! It works so well that I wish Milwaukee would make a larger round orbital random sander.

Better than other corner sanders

Very lightweight compared to what I have been using. So far it seems to have more than enough battery. Even though my 12volt batteries aren't new (i bought tool only), it does seem to go through them, draws quite a bit apparently. I'm happy with my purchase!

Great Sander but one design flaw

Absolutely love this sander only 1 draw back I’ve found is that the vibration of the tool transfers into the battery tabs and breaks the tabs of your batteries. Only use the HO 2.5 Batteries there made from a stronger material that can handle the vibrations

Well balanced saner

Great for small parts. Batteries last surprisingly long, but seems have had some charging issues.
I love the balance of the sander and the random orbit sanding leaves no swirling. Works well for curves surfaces with use of the thick sanding 0ad

Time Saver

Love this thing. I got it for a project I've had scheduled refinishing a staircase handrail, newel post, and balusters. Couldn't be happier with the outcome sanding time and finish worked like a charm. No longer going to dread jobs like these now 🤣

Outstanding tool!

This orbital detail sander outshines the multi-tool detail sanders by a wide margin. It's light, easy to use and gets into tight spaces well. The orbital action doesn't scratch like the oscillating multi-tools. It's a great tool for the woodworker.

Super useful tool. Only thing is the batteries don't last when using it. I have multiple 1.5 and 2 ah batteries and I need to make sure I have all of them charged and ready to go if I am going to be using the sander because it chews through them.

This tool is great for small fast jobs, it won’t replace a palm sander sheet sander for larger rougher jobs but is excellent at getting into corners and it’s quieter and more efficient then the oscillating tool with triangle attachment sand paper

Thing is an amazing tool even been using it on the ceiling to sand down hot mud patches the metal screen sanding pads are amazing also 11/10 all around. Paired with my belt sander and orbital 5inch I'm set for all things (all Milwaukee M18 DUH).

Great little sander.

This is a great little sander, the mesh pads work fast and don't plug up, the 4 different speeds help with more delicate surfaces or faster more aggressive cutting. It's comfortable to use and the pad is a good shape for getting in tight spots.

Incredible sander for small jobs and detail work, instant on and very responsive. I didn’t know if I would like the trigger instead or a more traditional switch, but I love it and find myself grabbing it more and more for smaller sanding jobs.

I've never had a complaint with any of your tools. Made a lot of packout purchases and tool purchases recently. Love the cutoff saw, rotary, and soldering iron especially. Mostly I've just had M18 tools but the M12 line is vastly creeping in.

Great tool for getting to hard to reach places. This is so much better than a sanding pad on a multi-tool. Wish it did have dust collection but that would limit the places this could reach. Definitely recommend it to anyone on the fence

Milwaukee M12 Detail sander is Beast! I am a long time time wood worker and acoustic guitar maker and this is replacing my very old detail sander. The interface pad is a great adder and will be used in many applications in my shop.

A great detail sander. Easy to use and good ergonomics. It does not remove material as fast as a vibrating multitool using the same grit sandpaper, but possibly because of the mesh style sanding sheets included with the Milwaukee.

Detail sander excellent for trim

Works very well for detail on trim. Pad savers wear out extremely quick on the edges. Pads as well don't seem to stay on exterior edges. I think a detail pad with sanding on edges would be extremely valuable for the inside edges.

Best addition to my woodworking tool in terms of Finishing a piece. Bought it and nice immediately put it to work. What would normally take a a lot of hand sanding in difficult to reach spots is now accomplished in minutes!

Enjoy the flexability of the tool, getting great finish results. I feel like the handle angle could be adjusted to make the sanding pad surface index better. Would also like to see different shapes and sizes of sanding pads.

Small enough to keep fatigue at bay, strong enough to remove material aggressively, does not leave swirl marks, lasts a long time on a single battery while sanding hard maple 3D CNC projects. VERY WELL THOUGH THEOUGH DESIGN
