Powerful and practical pump
il y a 7 mois
We had a problem with an air lock in our spring that I couldn't clear with any of my usual methods (compressed air, etc.). I went looking for a batter powered transfer pump and this Milwaukee unit showed up in my search. Since I am a rabid Red Tool owner it was a no brainer for me since I have lots of M18 batteries. The pump performed well beyond my expectations, forcing a column of water from the cistern up to the spring, some 100 feet from and above the cistern. Cleared the air lock and all is flowing as it should. The power and volumer of water this pump handles is fantastic. Highly recommended.
I have owned a nice parcel and second home on a small lake in northern Wisconsin for many years. Along the way I inherited a small rowboat that I keep tied to the dock when we are at this home. I have always used a jug with the bottom cut out to bail this boat, but bending over the boat to bail out rainwater has become more challenging as time goes on. I searched battery powered pumps and ran across this pump. After buying, I added two 12 foot hoses and a laundry lint trap for each hose. I can now empty the boat in a fraction of the time and with no sore back. Great product!
I was very excited when Milwaukee came out with this transfer pump. I am a plumber and a general contractor I use this transfer pump to drain down hot water heaters and it Works flawlessly and I also use it for when I have to snake outdoor drains in stairwells when they are flooded so I can get my snake down close to the drain this transfer pump is a winner for me. And I would like to add it is easy to operate and it pumps the water fast. If you need a transfer pump definitely purchase the Milwaukee you will be a satisfied customer like myself
I purchased this tool to pump 500+ gallons out of a large water tank before we had it refilled. The M18 transfer pump worked very well and was easily able to do the job. Sitting on the ground attached to a 50' long intake hose that was fed through the top of the tank (9' higher than the ground level), the pump had a lot of power and was able to pump the water out of the tank easily. I am also impressed by how quiet the pump is running. Other, smaller, 110v transfer pumps are incredibly loud but this pump is much quieter.
Use this for pumping water for garden at camp and winterizing sprinklers in fall at the house. Goes great all summer long. However this is the second year in a row is fails when pumping plumbing antifreeze for sprinklers. Seems when it's a critical time it decides to fail. Guess will send it out for yet another warranty job. Without these failures though would give it a 5/5. I realize the instructions say clear water only. Yet plumbing antifreeze does not mess up any fittings in a home/camp and trailer water line.
They work great out of the box but in my experience they get worse in time, I used one to water our town flower baskets, approximately 45 baskets in total, turns on approximately 18-24 seconds per basket. First year great, second year only works for 10-15 baskets, purchased a second Milwaukee M18 transfer pump one and it's even worse. Using 8ah high output batteries and they still have 80%+ power when pumps stop, 12-24 hours later pumps work again. I use them at 5-7am before the temperature is hot

Great little pump, gets the job done!

I work in a National Cemetery where we have to dig sockets for the headstones. At times these will fill up with water ( irrigation, rain, etc). In the past we have used a hand pump to clear these out which takes a lot of time. I convinced my superiors to buy this pump and try it out. It works great. Empties a full socket in about 2 minutes, saves us a bunch of time. Keep in mind this is muddy water, I have installed window screen over the inlet hose to keep large pieces of stuff out of the pump. Before I installed the screen a small rock got all the way thru the hose to the impeller and stopped the pump. I simply unscrewed the impeller inspection plate and removed the rock. The blades are made of rubber. We are in the process of purchasing two more of these pumps for use at the cemetery.
The transfer pump is a great tool and asset to the job site. Works very well. Only issue I have is it is very prone to leaking. After using the unit for a time, the unit randomly starts to leak near the head from inside the unit. Milwaukee has been good about fixing/replacing the unit, but the amount of time it took to repair was way too long (local authorized repair shop has to ship out the unit to another authorized location out of town to repair). I have had to buy others to keep the job site running. This wasn't even a one off event either, I have had multiple units leak the same way. I have sent for repair 3 of the units and even after repair, after some time using it the same result. Other then the leaking issue the units run great. The unit still functions properly with the leak as the leak is very small.
