Works great unless!?!?!?!?
il y a 4 ans
I bought this think it would be a great place to store my bit sets and drill sets. I was sorely disappointed when I got it home and found that none of my Packout organizers will allow them to stand up on their side, will not fit them end to end, and can not be stacked. They are wide enough to stand up on their side but not tall enough. If you lay it down flat it's still too short to stack more than one. At best you can get two, bit or drill set's in the box. They all seem to be in a fairly standard size box so I would think you would make an organizer to fit them. I love my Packout system otherwise. Would have been five stars if the sets fit!!
I use this little beauty for storing my PEX fittings, rings, and mickeys/straps. After getting beyond fed up with other people just dumping fittings out of their bags and letting them get all mixed up, or just outright lost, I decided it was time to spend some of my own money on organization. You can't beat being able to grab the rolling packout box and clicking these bad boys in to go accomplish your job. They're built extremely well. No concern of parts migrating inside, no worry of water ingress, extremely durable, and you just look like a true pro when you roll up with this system. Well worth the money, I will definitely be buying more in the future.
The internal dimensions are not as advertised. The lid indents sit lower than the 11 tray organizer, so the effective height is more like 3.6” or 3.7”. This is a problem when you expect to be able to take a tray that fits in the 11 tray organizer and just swap it into the 5 tray organizer. The lowered height caused minor damage before I saw the problem. I recommended the 11 tray organizer, but will not be recommending the 5 tray. I would love to see a 5 tray organizer with the same lid style as the 11 tray organizer.

Well made. Needs more flexibility in placing bins.

This is a well made and rugged box. It's too bad that you have to organize like Milwaukee thinks you should, and that you can't arrange the bins differently. It could be great, and all it would take is to form the lid with 6 square indents so that the small square bins can be placed anywhere. With that lid configuration you could rearrange the bins and place the larger bin in any number of locations, as well as orient front-to-back instead of just side-to-side. It'll work, but it could be so much better.
Thank you for your feedback! We will pass it along to the team for insight! - The Social Team

Great organnizer but better tool box
il y a 3 ans
Great organizer, but I dont use it as a organizer for small parts. Insteadi am using it as a small tool boxes for my small tools with their accessories. I dont like throwing all my small tools and accessories in one big bag and then waste time to look for right tool and accessory for the job. So farI was able to ro create 3 sets, m12 fuel hackzall with 2 batteries and blade kit, m12 rotary tool with tons of accessories(bits, blades, different tips) and 2 batteries, and also m12 crown stapler (wonderful tool btw) with tons of staples and 1 battery. Now I need to find customizable eva foam insert or 3d print inserts for the set ups. I found out that if i need to carry the tools its very easy when you connect 3 packout boxes together and use middle one handle to carry, perfect balance.
Decent size box. Maybe a 1/2" taller in height would be good. I tried to put a few cases the same size as the Milwaukee black oxcide bits and the lid was almost shut, but not quite.
This being said, the size is still correct as to what's listed. It was something I over looked when I bought it for my packout backpack. I believe the consumables that are produced should be compatible with the packout storage spaces.
I still use this box almost everyday and enjoy how it secures my loose items and keeps them organized. I jumped on the milwaukee band wagon a few years ago after my old Dewalt 20v gear had enough. I think I am now on the Red team for life. Very impressed with the improvements and technology invested in the user friendly tools and gear. Everyone knows you got good gear when they see the big M & lightning bolt.
The Packout series, including this Compact Packout, is w/o a doubt the best available in mobile tool store available, period! These don't distort when you stand on them or over-weigh them. They're watertight too! Tough! The design used to secure the modular components together is failsafe! It works smoothly with little effort. I highly recommend this product. It's closest competitor is the Dewalt TISK Series, and these put that to shame 10x!
Great stuff and heavy duty. I ordered three of these and I was a bit annoyed by the design not allowing you to change the big center tray with the smaller ones. Meaning you have to keep the large (double) tray in the center.
I’m using mine (all three of the trays) to organize assortments of screws/ lags and needed larger ones together, can’t do it because they molded the case around the trays with the large tray in the center :(
