Don’t kid yourself, need a grinder? Get this one.
il y a 5 mois
Milwaukee does it again. Power, style and design, and the best part versatility. I’m overall slowly making the full conversion to Milwaukee from my older dewalt tools. Don’t get me wrong both have their pros and cons, but Milwaukee has more of a wider range of niche tools that my property occasionally needs me to have a reliable one handy just in case. This grinder for instance. Just as powerful as my corded dewalt grinder. Main difference is though, not every spot I need a grinder has a power source anywhere near me. Sure other brands make one as well, but all of my new Milwaukee tools, ESPECIALLY THE FUEL LINE, have been nothing short of my favorites to use. I look forward to work just to see which tool I get to pull out the box every day!
As a licensed general contractor and current Building Trades Instructor, I own a LOT of cordless Milwaukee tools. Although there may be little things here and there that could use improvement, I have yet to find anything that I would change about this grinder. I always wanted a battery powered angle grinder- can’t imagine why I kept “wrestling with the cords” this long. No need to go into the features of this- it’s a FUEL angle grinder with plenty of power. If you want me to find something wrong with it…..as nice as it is, I would never pay retail. Milwaukee retail prices have gotten a bit out of hand and as a contractor, if I need a tool right away, I can afford to wait for promos or sales- which in their defense, they do have many throughout the year.
Had one cordless drill (not red with an obsolete battery platform) and decided to switch to the Milwaukee M18. Started with the 1/2 inch Hammer Drill and added the Sawzall, Surge Impact Driver, Floodlight and now the M18 Angle Grinder. Have only used the angle grinder to cut and deburr three pieces of 9/16 stainless rod, cut fast and was easy to change to a flap disc to bevel the ends. Live on acreage and am able to do more tasks without running (and putting away) long extension cords and/or moving a
(quiet but heavy) generator.
I grinder is a absolute pleasure to work with. The first thing I like is how you can actuate the quick connect and take the guard off the blade for cleaning and work in tight spaces. There is also a protective housing that makes sure the metal guard does not get scratched. I find that the paddle switch is set up in a comfortable manner and I notice no hand fatigue. The instant power quickly and accurately cuts through whatever work I put in front of it. This Milwaukee grinder has more power than my corded Bosch and is quieter.
I absolutely love the grinder and actually used it for the first time today cutting cove base in a restaurant. I am really falling in love with the 12,and 18volt lineup. My boss is the one who turned me to trying out and trusting your brand and if you guys are looking for someone to sponsor? I would like to officially nominate my boss David Smith from Stanley NC. He is a die hard Red and Black man to the core and if anyone deserves this I really think he does he's is the owner/operator of Smith Construction Services.
I picked up this tool to rid a property of a 60-year old galvinized 8' metal chain link fence, with posts, and gates. This tool cut my operating time down to nuthin (pun intended). With elder concrete carrots over a foot wide and 2 feet deep this was our option for effeciency of flush metal cuts and or grinding metalwork down to subterranean levels. It was a full days work but this tool was up for the task, and working next to dirt floor all day went without a hitch. Paddle was easy to operate with leather gloves on without hand and arm fatigue. Finally, a reliable tool that works as hard as we do. I'm completely satisfied with this cut-off tool, solid, balanced and not too heavy for all day use. The Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM FORGE XC6.0 battery easily went the distance.
I have loved Milwaukee for several years now but what made me continue buying more was when my packout rolling toolbox wheels went bad I contacted Milwaukee trying to find a replacement set and Milwaukee had the best customer service I have ever experienced completely took care of me so I am now a Milwaukee man for life. I have several different types of their tools nail guns, blower, weed eater drills, lights, grinder, etc. and have yet to experience an issue with any of them.
This is the first battery powered grinder I've used. It's awesome! Power is very smooth compared to all of my corded ones. It's quieter, I can push it hard and it lasts long enough for normal jobs and tasks. Best of all, I don't need an outlet or extension cord and I don't need to unplug the chop saw or light or charger every time I need to grind! I haven't tried it with any production type work, like constantly running it for hours at a time, but it's perfect for what I do.
Solid, reliable grinder. I prefer it to corded grinders hands down. This thing cranks. I’ve used my other fuel grinder for just about every job over the past 6 years without an issue. It’s actually still running, I just wanted an extra grinder while working..
PS Milwaukee, please add “artist” to your list of trades. I’ve been creating public art for years thanks to your tools but never can select my profession when I register a new tool.
Outperforms all other comparable grinders I have used. I use it to cut and grind concrete, tile, rebar, and even as a little orbital coping saw. It does it all! I have folks on jobsites that swear by competitors battery series, until they pick up mine. The paddle switch is great and far easier than traditional slide switches that always seem to get stuck. Milwaukee did it again with this one, I only invest in black and red for my jobsites.
I work as a mobile welder and When I purchased the grinder i wasn’t sure of its power output compared to a corded one . But as soon as i started using it i was very impressed. Its very lightweight, the handle feels light and I’m enjoying the stop . I do wish it had a battery light indicator on the tool like some of my other Milwaukee tools . All in all it was a solid purchase. Next purchase will

Amazing angle grinder I have been looking at this one for a while now and was trying to decide if I really need it at this moment, but then Milwaukee had the buy a starter kit and I got this grinder free, just conveniently this was the exact same item so I had to make the purchase and even if I actually paid for it, it’s been amazing, easy to handle and cuts with little effort and not super big and bulky
Bought this grinder with skepticism. A couple friends had them and said they were amazing. I am here to say. It by far, has the most torque i have seen in an 4 ½" grinder. Ive used a host of cordered grinders Makita, Dewalt, Mitabo. All corded. They don't hold a candle to this. The next phase...longevity. how long will it last. Ive been satisfied with all my Milwaukee cordless items thus far.
Expected this to come with "Integrated FIXTEC Nut Technology" or some form of "Tool-Free Accessory Change" tech as stated on the box however is does not. Instead, it includes the standard Flange Nut + Spanner Wrench (ie. A tool required to change accessories). If you are going to state on the box Tool-Free Accessory Change, I expect the tool to be able to change accessories without a tool.

Overall happy with purchase
il y a un an
I am overall happy with this grinder. The unit has plenty of power for my tasks, which are primarily cutting sheet steel, with occasional grinding of welding marks after joining reels of sheet steel. The weight is nice, with decent runtime for a battery grinder. My only gripe with the unit is the folding safety toggle on the on/off paddle, with it being difficult to actuate at times.
Our main use for this tool is cutting sheet metal ductwork with a cutting wheel. This tool makes quick work of any cutting task and with the long life battery it has the added feature of portability, which as any contractor knows saves time. In our industry time is money which makes this portable beauty worth its weight in gold. Keep up the good work Milwaukee so we can keep up ours.
Lightweight and sturdy grinder. Simple and quick disk changes, works great on metal and other materials, works great on tile with a diamond blade. Reasonably priced with the M18 battery system. I found that when the multi-tool or hacksaw doesn't work well enough, you are going to need this compact sturdy grinder to get the job done. Required for any mobile packout tool ensemble.
I was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin that being said it’s nice to find a great quality tool made from your hometown and Milwakee stands by their tools I highly recommend if you want a good quality tool buy Milwaukee it has never let me down yet… I have seen people use all different kinds of tools and I’ve seen them quit and break but I’ve never seen that with Milwakee.
The absolute only downside to this product is the battery life doesn't matter what battery you're using if you're cutting through any decently thick piece of Steel you are going to kill the battery pretty quick but as long as you got a couple extra ones this is the perfect grinder to have out in the field with you absolutely love it I have just nicknamed it the battery Slayer
I’ve used various brands of corded and non corded grinders and Makita was my favorite for a while. I really don’t like top switches because I’d rather not twist my wrist around with a running grinder in my hand. I also have big hands so wherever I grab my Milwaukee with the paddle switch I feel confident and comfortable with my grip. I do have a small army of batteries (at least 8 most over 3 hours) but I don’t feel like I’m constantly swapping batteries just to cut some tile. This grinder also feels like a corded option because of the amount of torque it puts out. The paddle switch is easy to operate and the wheel doesn’t take more than a second or two to come to a stop so I don’t feel the need for the “Rapid Stop”. Overall this is a reliable tool that hasn’t given me any issues whether I’m cutting metal, wood, PVC, mesh, concrete, or granite (provided you use the correct kind of cutting disc or grinding pad).
All of my other power tools are Milwaukee, so I am already a fan! This was my first time using a Grinder. I found it very easy to follow the directions install the discs. I was very pleased with the ease of use and becoming comfortable once I started grinding away. As of today, I have only used sanding discs, but look forward to the other style discs and their uses.
I love these grinders. They do not have the rpms of a corded grinder so they cut a little slower, but the convenience of having no cord outweighs the slower grinding speed. I had to use my corded grinder today because i left my grinder in my other truck, and i was cussing the cord the whole time. I use mine with a 5.0 AH battery and get good run time out of them.
Super handy grinder, I've used it as a cut off saw, grinder and with wire wheels, impressive power. Does drain batteries quicker than other Milwaukee 18volt tools, recommend using higher capacity batteries. Great tool, going to purchase a second so iI can keep a grinding wheel on one and a wire wheel on the other. Wish i would have purchased this sooner!
I bought a combo deal and didn't realize I was getting the rapid stop feature. Didn't care much at the time, but now that I've used the grinder, I absolutely love the rapid stop! The grinder feels well balanced, great power, and works amazing! Can drain a battery pretty quick, so I'd recommend at least a 5ah battery for it. Great product!!
This grinder have so much power and is light works amazing and i use it to cut a solid steel gate that was hit by a car and i was impressed with it it never stalled or decrease in power I really love it keep it up Milwaukee!!! One thing that i really like is they have the best tools for the best price that you will never see on the planet
Its a beast. I have purchased roughly 10 milwaukee tools this year atleast and other than my one hammer drill that burned out on its first hole, now that I learned to only buy fuel versions all the tools have been good. But I am a little but hurt about the drill burning out on its first hole, cutting with a 4 inch hole saw through a 2x6
Got this grinder after my first generation grinder finally died. This 2nd generation fuel grinder is an absolute beast!! I use this daily as a tilesetter and am never disappointed. If i had any suggestions it would be to develop a 4-1/2" grinder in the fuel line as well, but for now, this far surpasses my expectation. Go team RED!!
I always have several grinders set-up. When one of my corded "yellow" ones went out I took the opportunity to pick up this one. I already own the Milwaukee 2880, so I was looking foreward to the improvements in this more expensive model. I have not been disappointed. It has good power, speed and feel. I am going to buy another one.
This grinder is on a whole other level compared to my old one. I absolutely love it and the forge battery lays twice as long. It also charges up class to the 80% in 15 minutes. I'm very impressed with this grinder and cant wait too get the rest of my tools upgraded to the fuel line. Thank you milwaukee for of doing yourself again
It cuts through metal & cement block with the appropriate blade just fine but, I'm not sure that I'm sold on this tool. It's loud, the movement of the spindle is not smooth, like it has a bad bearing or a nut is too tight & I'd like to be able to move the blade guard a little more but the stop for the end travel won't allow it...
