Close, but no cigar.

Love the form factor and heat up time. Not impressed with the collar melting if left on for a few minutes. Very disappointed that the melted part is not listed as available so I assume it’s not servicable.

Very handy.

I use this to solder electrical connection in automobiles and atv's. From the time it is turned on it is melting solder within seconds. No cord, ergonomic swivel handle and light for the underdash work.
i love it when it works but they never last- i've owned 4 of these and they all die prematurely. the first batch the tips melted, now they just stop working after a couple months of use. Poorly made.

Must have tool if you work with electronics
il y a 9 mois
This maybe my favorite Milwaukee tool! I use in my e-bike shop and works great to get into tight spots. It is convenient, I take the soldering iron to the work instead of taking the work to the tool.
Only had tool for 2 months and stopped working is this a thing that happens a lot seen other reviews with same problem with the white heating element breaks tools has not been dropped or miss handled
Airfield maintenance, automotive repair and field electronics repair. No need to stock butane on my truck. That by the Way has exploded in the heat. Very fast start up time. No AC outlet no problem
I have a m12 soldering iron worked great for the few times I used it. I went to use it today and the lights just blink and never heats up. Never had any issues with any of my other Milwaukee tools.

when it works its great- but never works for long.
il y a 7 mois
ive owned 3 of these. one died because of the thermal fuse, the other two had the housing around the tip melt. when it works its great. It would be nice if replacement parts would be available.
I have a custom bike shop and I specialize in Motorcycle Audio. I solder every connection. And this tool is great. Other people have seen my tool and how good it is and bought one for themselves.
Loved it while it worked. Had it on one day for 3-5 munites, picked it up and the plastic around the heating element was melting.
Have a dozen or so M12 tools, this one just wasnt up to par.
You can find a Service and Parts list for your tool on our website or by calling 1-800-SAWDUST from 8:00am to 6:00pm CT, Monday-Friday. Please feel free to email us at social.media@milwaukeetool.com if you need further assistance in getting in contact with a representative.

Solder tip collar melted

The plastic collar that supports soldering tip melted. This product does not meet my expectations of Milwaukee tools. I normally would rate all their other tools very high, but not this one

Same as the majority

I’ve had the same experience as most, it has failed (no external damage). Though I plan to purchase another iron, by far the best portable iron I’ve ever used I just wish it was more rugged.

Nice and compact
il y a un an
Works exactly for what I need it for. It's lightweight even with a higher capacity battery so I don't feel like I'm struggling to hold it when working. One of my favorite tools I use at work
This was an awesome tool, but after a few months of owning it just stopped heating up. The green light flashes for a little bit like it's trying to do something, but the tip never gets hot.
Great product while it's working...but it stopped.

I love using this & not having to have a cord, but it stopped working. I don't see any way to replace the parts, so it looks like I'll have to do something different...very unfortunate.

Only if they can keep the collar from melting
il y a 3 ans
I use it to solder led lights together in signs. The fact that it is cordless comes in real handy.
But now that the collar started to fall apart. I'll have to look for a different one
Finally don't have to rely on a touch to solder wires on towers. Works great for what I need it for. Wish it did have a temperature control but it seems to be around 750 degrees.
I love this thing. When paired with a large battery it is a stable platform allowing you to easily and quickly tin and solder wires then doing work on a car or other equipment.
Yes, turn off as soon as possible to prevent fail.

Get hot and ready to use quickly. My first Milwaukee soldering iron lasted about 3 years of light use.
My tip stopped getting hot, green light flashing.
Bought a new one today.
I have been using a decent amount the last few months with out a hiccup. Well then my 1.5 year old disassembled it and lost the knurled Fastner #3 in the pic. Please help lol

Great Tool
il y a un an
An absolutely great soldering iron for on site electrical work. I've had two had one fail after 1 year of medium duty work. I will get another, hopefully under warranty.
Not happy. I had the same issue as everyone else. Milwaukee agreed to send a new soldering iron and they sent me a VACUUM HOSE!! And it's not even for the vacuum I have.

I'm an auto mechanic and use this tool quite a bit. Unfortunately the plastic collar melted causing the tip to fall off. I can't find parts anywhere to fix this.
