I wish people would learn how batteries work

It's astounding, given how long lithium ion batteries have been around, how many people still have no clue how they work, how they should be used and stored, and who still believe there's a manufacturing defect when the cause of failure is their own incompetence.
There's nothing wrong with these battery packs. They have as good or better cells than you'll find in any other tool, or any Tesla for that matter, and the PCB and wiring is sturdy enough you could give these to a monkey for a few days and probably get it back in working condition. In the case the monkey does break it, the internals are so simple that same monkey could probably repair it.
Bought the M12 red lithium for my Milwaukee heated jacket… To my dismay, I had both batteries on the charger for a day a piece only to have to work outside in 8 degree weather (-8 degrees with windchill) to find my batteries weren’t charged. I thought we’ll my truck has a an outlet so I will throw it back on the charger, only to see the led indicator flashing green and red. Haven’t had these very long and they have been stored indoors in a heated garage. Very frustrating and cold lesson to learn… unfortunate and not expected from a Milwaukee brand item.

great battery life, needs better protection.

I work in automotive trades. I use the m12 fuel 1/4 impact driver, 3/8 fuel ratchet and 1/4 fuel ratchet. Batteries usually last me 3-5 days on a charge. The only issue I have is that occasionally tools fall onto concrete and now my batteries broke out of the casings. The batteries are undamaged just the cases broke. i have tried to use email support twice and never got a response to see if this is a concern that is covered warranty item or if I could buy the case haves.
I have many mechanics using these batteries in a variety of M12 tools. Currently there is a stack of useless batteries that just need the plastic clips replaced. Thus far Milwaukee has offered no solution to this problem. For a high use item I would look elsewhere.

Great Tools with Terrible Batteries

Both of the M12 Batteries that came with my drill/ Driver combo no longer charge. There is minimal usage with both. The tools are great but due to the battery issues I cannot recomend purchasing these units. New batteries cost almost as much as the combo set.

Battery doesn’t last

Am a logger and in Nw MT. The jacket is nice and warm. Battery doesn’t last long at all though. Maybe 2 hours. Takes along Rome to charge and this is brand new. I wouldn’t buy it again unless I know the battery could last longer.

M12 CP2.0 appears rugged, reliable and practical.

Liked the performance behaviour so much that I bought three more. The power density seems to be deep - at least deep enough to be very practical. In addition, M12 products can run off of vehicle 12V system, in a pinch.
Used it a few times a year during warmer days where I didn't need a bigger battery. After 3 years of infrequent usage, battery doesn't charge to full anymore at only 3 out of 4 dots. Less than 30 cycles on this battery.
