Hose is Bad
il y a un an
the machine itself works great. have issues with getting the batteries out. getting the M12 battery out with only your fingertips is a pain in the rear. Going to cause carpal tunnel for sure.\
my BIGGEST complaint though is the hose is basically worthless. not sure if it's just mine or all of them. but it does not fit any standard hose connections, even other Milwaukee products. example the palm sander. I have to tape the connection or it falls apart. the nozzles that came with the vacuum don't even fit well. I picked up some of the Milwaukee attachments and will have to return them because they do not fit at all! Kinda annoying i was better off with the Rigid shop vac.
I purchased the pack out kit at a trade show here in Calgary last year, I got a deal on this vacuum which is great. There's one major problem with this, it doesn't connect to the pack out kit. I have a detailing shop that specializes in motorcycles and when we have to go mobile we use the vacuum alot as it works great for blowing off water and dirt. We need this to mount to the pack out because it has fallen off the kit and hit one of our customers bikes, which cost me alot of time and money. So my question is this, is there a mount that would work for our problem and if there is where do we get it.
I bought this last summer and since then it has had far more use than I would have originally thought it might. The suction is great as is the internal storage for the battery, tools, and hose. The one thing that would make it better would be to relocate the power switch to the other side of the handle so that you could carry the vacuum itself with one hand and the hose with the other. By having the switch where it is I find it awkward to turn it on and off all while having the most hose reach. But that's just personal preference at that point. Overall I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Don't bother. You'll wreck the hose quickly and Milwaukee doesn't make replacements. Not to mention the poor design for how and where it attaches to the vacuum, practically requiring channelocks to remove because they tucked it in a corner with just a single flimsy tab to unlock.
It's bad enough they used the exact same model number for the 'internal hose' vs 'external hose' models, but the actual hose -- part 14-37-0105 -- is out of production.
I also learned that if the battery dies while the vacuum is running, there's a chance the motor gets stuck and the vacuum will appear dead with a fresh battery. You need to take the lid off and manually spin the motor fan with a screwdriver.

Milwaukee junk vacuum
il y a 23 heures
This vacuum is a piece of junk. I wasted my money on it it vacuumed a piece of paper and died. That is it dead.
After my first use both of the clasps on the canister broke. They are very brittle/frail. After i exchanged it, one of the top clasps broke as well. Further it clogs quickly and has poor suction. No attachments are featured or listed to buy such as extended hoses or nozzles. I have a multitude of milwaukee tools and like them thus far. This has turned my eyes toward Dewalt now and am wondering if I made the wrong choice in brand. I am a refrigeration tech and this tool seemed ideal and failed as well as the milwaukee clamp meters. I would like this to be rectified but doubtful it will be.
Light, compact, works for minor cleanup and detailing. I like the portability of a battery powered vacuum, the suction is okay at best, but being portable is a huge asset for me, so it usually gets the job done, and I can bring in a more powerful corded vacuum if it won't. I have yet to try using it in wet environments, but doubt it'd be sufficient if that's what you need. It also tends to be top heavy so when you need to extend the hose, it falls over, and the float that is supposed to keep water from entering the motor will jam up and you have to shut it off, for a second to reset.
My wife bought this for me for my birthday. I recently started my changeover to the M18 system. I had been taking her small vacuum on jobs I was doing, and she got tired of that. I've used this a few times, and I LOVE it. It runs for quite a while on 5.0 batteries, and the suction is almost as good as my 16 gallon shop vacuum. It's extremely convenient to take on my jobs, and the on-board accessory storage is well-designed. I've used the competition's vacuum (Talking to you, yellow), and the Milwaukee is much better built. I'm looking forward to adding more M18 tools to my collection.
So I love this vacuum and is perfect for my apartment, my car, my garage, my projects, and anything else I throw at it. The only thing I’d like to see Milwaukee add to it is a drain plug for ease of emptying the water tank. Otherwise, the tool is powerful and light weight even when the tank is full of water. This is a much better option than the bucket vacuum and I’d buy it again if necessary. I bought it to replace a plug in five gallon from rigid and have been very happy with the performance. I use it regularly, about two to three times a week to empty a five gallon water tank from a portable air conditioner in my apartment so it gets lots of use. I’d definitely recommend it to a friend and family.
I received this product as a gift. Being a Milwaukee tool fan and owning a shop i built for my hobbies, I was very excited about it.
After opening it and ensuring I had a fully charged M18 battery, I set off around the shop to see what it would do. I used it for about 30 seconds and turned it off to move some things. When I went to turn it on again, I heard start for about 2 seconds then it was dead. Ive tried everything I can do, different M18 battery, and nothing. So, it was great for about 32 seconds total and now its a dead pretty plastic shell. Huge let down in Milwaukee.
So, what's with these hoses? I liked everything about this unit: its size, satisfactory suction, attachment storage, and portability. I've only put it through two battery charges worth of use, and the HEAD SEPARATED FROM THE HOSE in the middle of vacuuming out my car. I bought into the Milwaukee battery-powered tool universe because I believed them to be CONSTRUCTION GRADE. This vacuum certainly does not live up to that promise. It doesn't even live up to the middle-aged guy vacuuming out his car on the weekend promise. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM.

Awesome except for the hose
il y a 3 ans
I'm a plumber and this vacuum is awesome for sucking out toilets before I pull them, or sucking up standing water in sinks before disassembling the trap. This issue I have is the hose tears easily and I have torn so many times in different places that I can no longer fix it with tape. No big deal right? I'd be happy to buy a replacement except I cannot find one anywhere. All the ones marketed online say they are oem replacements but don't actually fit this unit. I'd be happy to give this product fives stars if someone could help me get my hands on a replacement hose.

POOR PRODUCT
il y a un an
DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT,JUST LIKE THE OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE MY HOSE BROKE OVER THE WEEKEND WHILE USING AND I WAS TOLD IT ISNT COVERED. I DO UNDERSTAND ABOUT WEAR ITEMS. I ONLY USE THE VACUUM IN MY CAMPER AND USE IT MAYBE 10 TIMES A YEAR SO IT ISNT ABUSED. WITH THE AMOUNT OF MILWAUKEE TOOLS I PURCHASE AND THE FACT THAT I HAVE NEVER MADE A WARRANTY CLAIM YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD COVER THE HOSE. THAT PLUS THE FACT THAT I PROMOTE MILWAUKEE PRODUCTS AND ENCOURAGE MY MECHANICS TO PURCHASE MILWAUKEE TOOLS RATHER THAN SNAP ON OR MAC IT LEAVES A SOUR TASTE IN MY MOUTH

Noisy but good
il y a 4 ans
This thing works as expected, and can also be used as a blower. Very noisy; enough so that we keep noise-protection muffs on the handle. The vacuum is 5-star except for the noise that drops it to 4-star. It does quickly discharge batteries. The one we own is from the earlier versions of these.
Note that this is a small competent shop vac very good for its limited usages. We also have the M12 dust vac and the M18 floor vac for their different specific usages. Each of those vacs does well in its own specialty usage, but each does poorly in other types of usage.
My wife and I love this vacuum. It is perfect for smaller jobs that are a distance from the shop and shop vac. I used to lug the big shop vac around, find a place to plug it in then lug it back to the shop. Now I just pick up the tool box sized vacuum and off I go! I picked up 2 new 5 aH batteries (I needed some new ones for my drill and drivers anyway) and I have yet to run out of juice with the vac using the first battery. I picked up an assortment of extra tools because I wanted a brush. With some finagling I was able to fit the brush in the tool box and close the lid. Favorite uses: cleaning the ashes out of my smoker (totally cooled down of course) and cleaning the inside of my wife’s glass kiln after a firing.
One of 2 out of the 20 or so Milwaukee tools to ever stop working for me. This m18 vac stopped turning on for unknown reasons. I have not abused it, the first one I bought lasted less then a year. I bought a second one thinking it was just a fluke that it stopped working since I've had such good luck with Milwaukee tools in the past. The second one made it less then a year with the same issue. Just won't turn on. I feel like it may be something to do with the connects at the battery terminal. But I have a second paperweight on my hands. Truly disappointed.

Love this thing!
il y a 4 ans
Man, if I read these reviews, I'd be concerned, except for the fact that I bought one last winter and have been using it quite a lot, and it has performed flawlessly.
I've been using it to clean up inside outbuildings on the farm after sweeping or blowing the big stuff away and it has worked for hours without fail. It does work better with larger batteries (the 8.0 HO is my favorite) and I find myself using this almost daily.
I've had batteries die on me while using it and after swapping the battery out mine has fired right back up every time. I must have gotten a good one.
I've never use it for wet cleanups yet, just dry ones and it's been pretty fine particles thus far and numerous dead bugs here and there out of windows.
I also have the first generation in addition to this new one. I prefer the first generation due to the better ergonomics while using. I bought the new model because it accepts the larger 9.0 batteries where as the old model only had space for the 5.0 and under. The power button on this vac is on the wrong side of the carry handle, should be on the same side the suction hose attaches to for easy thumb operation while using. Suction is fine, it works great for small jobs, meets expectations. Latches are very cheap and need to be treated with kid gloves.

Same thing as serious let down
il y a 6 ans
Same thing as serious Letdown comment from 4 years ago:
Being a Milwaukee tool fan and owning an electrical construction business I bought 4 for my trucks.I was very excited about it. After opening it and ensuring I had a fully charged M18 battery, I tried it around the house to see what it would do. I used it for
about 30 seconds and turned it off to move some things. When I went to turn it on again, I heard it start but a different sound for about 2 seconds then it was dead. Ive tried everything I can do, different M18 battery, and nothing. Then I tried another and the same thing happened. So, l took all 4 back to the store for credit. Huge let down for Milwaukee. also should have a 120 volt power cord in addition to the battery.
Clogs constantly, run time is short, breaks easily
il y a 4 ans
I love the fact that it has a HEPA filter since this is now required for lead jobs, and it is extremely portable and easy to use. That being said it isn't very powerful, the 3Ah and 5Ah batteries barely run it and last about 15 minutes. If you buy one of these at least get the 8 or 9 Amp hour battery. The top latches break easily as does the hose connector, the plastic is weak nothing like their screwguns which you can throw on the ground from 30 feet without fear of damage. Trust me I have been using Milwaukee tools daily for 35 years as I am a contractor. I'm looking for another replacement hose right now and they are almost impossible to find, they may be discontinued. Too bad I love the vacuum, it just clogs up a lot and breaks easily.
I use this vacuum all the time servicing furnaces and boilers. It is quite powerful compared to even the corded 11/4" vacuums. The noise is not unbearable, there is a place to put the hose and all the connections, and the flat top makes this perfect for sitting on. (they really did their homework on this one) The biggest issue that this unit has is the short runtime (10-12min on a 4ah battery). For the amount of air pressure this produces I am sure a lot of juice is needed but I wonder if a better version (brushless) might help this issue.

For the price not bad, but still went with Packout
il y a 2 ans
Great product but compared to the pack out version, the pack out vacuum wins. My last job had this vacuum in my truck. But my new job got myself the Packout vacuum. Which has two modes low and high, also much quieter then this model. Also has optional bag kit. The one thing I wish both model had as option is way to have a shoulder strap and ridged pipes with floor head so can clean larger area while standing….. Also would like to see hybrid version plug in or battery, as well as maybe be nice to have snap on wheel kit for the packout vacuum…
I've purchased 3 of these vacuums, mostly for quick cleanup around the house or in vehicles at work. They do a great job picking up wire trimmings at work, quick cleanup around the house and detailing vehicles. Also make great inflators for big blowup pool toys! Two issues I have, the filter needs a sock if you're doing any kind of drywall cleanup or anything with a lot of fine material. The provided filter clogs up quickly and doesn't clean up much while tapping it out in a garbage can. The other issue/complaint-- the switch!! It's on the WRONG side of the handle if you're moving the vacuum or holding it while in use!! My pinky gets a workout, as leaving the vac running while moving around will run through the battery pretty quick, even with a 6.0xc.
We have maybe a dozen or more of these units. While they function great when new, the hoses aren't up to the task long term. On several of them the hose have split where it threads into the connector end. The repair is to cut the hose and re-insert it, but the hoses are getting shorter and shorter to the point where they're hard to use. The other issue we've had with a couple is the bottoms wearing out. Through day to day use, holes have been worn in the corners of the bottom causing air leaking in and a loss of suction, and dirt leaking out when turned off. We've ended up epoxying them to keep them in service. The plastic need to be thicker at the bottom or some wear tabs added. The guys love them when they're new, but the longevity hasn't been great.

Very Surprised!!
il y a 6 ans
I use it mainly when drilling holes in concrete floors and it does great for that but i wanted to see what it was capable of so i vacuumed my four door pick up that doubles as my daily driver and my family trip vehicle. Being early spring the carpet was pretty bad and I finally had to put in a second 5.0 in while finishing up the back seat floor. I figured it would eat up batteries but this thing is great! and the hose only clogged once when I accidentally sucked up a twist tie left from my new radio install!
I make a lot of rework in the house calls for my company and this vacuum is a must have.
Instead of lugging a shop vac into customers home to suck up and debris associated with a service call, this little guy makes my job so much easier.
Has plenty of power, not very loud, and people don't give me that stare i use to get because they see the big ol "been everywhere else vac" that gives them the creeps due to shop vacs are sometimes obtrusive.
Even bought one for my wife so she'd quit borrowing mine...
We use these vacuums in an industrial environment at an automotive plant. We use them to suck up oil in hundreds of drips trays per day. The portability allows our guys to move quickly between locations, no hassles with cords. So far only flaw we have found is with the design of the lower buckles used to hold the bucket onto the vacuum, as they break off easily. We installed a metal one in its place with pop rivets and back to work it goes, minor set back. Other then that we cannot expect more from it.

Definitely handy but has some drawbacks
il y a 5 mois
Overall this is a good little vacuum with decent power for cleaning up quick messes at a site, a project around the house or great for vehicle maintenance but the run time is short depending on battery and sometimes it has a very high pitched whine in the exhaust. Also it doesn't fit my standard 1-1/4 attachments I have around forcing me to an adapter. Running with a High Output battery definitely increases performance and run time. The HEPA filter is a plus for small drywall projects in living areas.
In some ways I wanted to give 1 star, but that would be dishonest. I liked it enough to upgrade it with the Packout version for my truck and use this one in my home. The power switch has always been unreliable. After about 13 months it stopped working all together. There doesn't appear to be a user serviceable fuse. I've had the Packout version for several months now and the hose on the outside is a much needed improvement. The suction is good, the hose and housing are in good shape after a year. The compact size and shape is just what I needed. The good suction means you need some of the larger batteries for any length of time, and sometimes my 8.0 is a bit hard to get out. The 5.0s aren't bad to remove if you rock them back and forth. I hope their warranty process goes well.
Hi Russ, we appreciate your review. We are sorry to hear that the power switch is unreliable. We will email you for more information. -Cayla with Milwaukee Tool

Solid vac - cleans up the mess
il y a 4 ans
I enjoy using this vac because its ability to take it anywhere I need it from remote sites without power being available to cleaning out nooks and crannies between equipment that traditional vacs don’t reach easily. My crew uses this vac religiously when performing preventative maintenance to add onto the quality experience for patrons visiting our facilities. I appreciate it when even the nooks and crannies have been cleaned out for a finished look and message that you care about the finer details.
