Good chalk reel for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chalk box is well made and leaves a precise line time after time. Very easy to pull the line taught and it feels like it will not break no matter how much you pull on it. The supplied chalk left equally crisp lines on both wood and concrete. Made cutting off decking excess simple and straight ! Overall good value for the price. The handle winds the line in fast but I can't say if it is any faster then the last one I had from Irwin. I usually go through a chalk box a year so I will have to see how long this holds up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Strait -Line Speedline pro Chalk line. I am a 58 year old contractor and have used many lines over the years. The first thing about this design, is the large entrance at the top that opens and gives a very large area for poring in your chalk. I found this much easier than older models that had very little space for chalk. The speed wind portion works as you would expect winding the line in quickly. it also pulls the end clip in tight and doesn't leave string dangling.
today I mostly was lining plywood as I was sheathing some walls around an elevator.
I am happy with the performance and would recommend this product, It is the right size to fit in your pouch and is pretty light. I use a bunch of Irwin tools and always have a couple lines on my truck.

Snap the chalk line like a pro

Speed, line chalk line is a great marking tool. The line is braided then which which I hope will make it last a good long time period
It reals in fast and smooth.
It has a slide locking door to add the chalk. It pulls the head and all open ro add the chalk, then you close and lock. The kit comes with a 4 oz bottle of blue temporary chalk. It has a fairly large hook end with a split for holding on to Items like nails as well as a house shaped hole for holding as well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After growing up and using the old metal plumb bob style, this is a very welcome addition to my box. To start - The fill hole is very easy to open and large enough that filling is not a messy task. The string is very well made for the purpose and provides a clean and sharp line out to at least 20 feet. I'm used to the older models with 1:1 winding and leaving your hands covered in chalk. Winding the string in is assisted by a gear retrieve for very fast rewind.Going out, pressing the yellow button disengages the handle to keep things under control. I have not dropped mine - partly because of the clutched outfeed - so that has not been tested, but it is a good feeling type tool and I have no doubt that Irwin covered that area. On top of all that, you can still it as a plumb bob when the need arises

Good not great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was originally used on trusses then onto sheathing and synthetic underlayment. It performed as expected except for the rewind. The 6 to 1 ratio was ok, its faster than older styles, however i thought it wasnt as smooth as it probably should be. Once loaded with chalk properly it works well at what its intended. The smaller size is nice as it fits better in a tool belt. The quick load door to refill is a nice change as well.

An incredible value!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was absolutely blown away by just how functional and well-built that this Irwin STRAIGHT-LINE SPEEDLINE PRO is. It's comfortable in the hand, and a major attribute is that the reel is reversible. The twist-lock fill mechanism also latches perfectly. I experienced incredible snap line results on various soft & hard wood, ABS plastic sheeting, as well as 6061 aluminum stock. I'd absolutely recommend this to friends and family.

Rugged Chalk Reel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Irwin Chalk Reel is rugged and easy to use. The wide opening chalk door is convenient for checking the chalk level and refilling it. It locks closed to prevent chalk from spilling out when stored or transported. The metal hook on the line stores in the cap keeping it tangle free. The 100 foot line is strong and provides a good amount of chalk when snapped. The fast rewind handle makes it easy to retract the line.

Reels in quick, nice feel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Has a nice large rubber grip to help prevent dropping the chalk line. It was very easy to fill with chalk and it is nice that the refill cap is hinged to the main body. The cap has an arrow that indicates which direction to unlock on on side, it would be nice if there was a lock arrow on the opposite side. I do like that it reels in very quickly and so far the prong has hooked onto several surfaces and held.

Good replacement chalk line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This chalk line provided a good visual line and the blue chalk works well. We did fine that the over spray of chalk caused blue chalk to spread over the plywood and vinyl siding we were marking for long cuts. The reel worked well and when winding, the closure would be close to the snap in point. We did find adding chalk a little messy, but over all the reel worked well on our job site.

As good as any other

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chalk line was sturdy and held the chalk well. It held onto the screw and had to be pulled off.
Winding the line up was a little difficult. While holding the base my fingers got in the way of turning the crank some. The speed winder only worked perfect the first time or two. After that, is started to skip. It didn’t get jammed but was a little hard at times.

Chalk line

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Irwin Strait-line chalk line to mark OSB sheathing for my new house. I like the large clip and the way it reels into the end of the chalk box. The speed at which the line reels in is nice. The only negative I have found is that it is a little bigger than the one I have used in the past. It doesn’t fit in my tool pouch as well.

Clean and tough

Tough metal hook and easy to fill no wasting material when filling leaves even chalk line very tough would recommend a hook belt hook but other than that worked really good. Definitely going to use this on my next flooring project

Great upgrade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chalk line has been wonderfully upgraded with the addition of a 6:1 gear ratio winder that really improves the uptake of the chalk line. Additionally the twist lock feature for refilling the chalk is very handy and easy to use. Overall I found it much easier to use than any of my older chalk lines and would would recommend it to anyone.

Nice Features

The big hook grips well and doesn't slip when chalking lines. The heavy string should last much longer than traditional chalk line strings and the quick string release on the handle works great.

The string doesn't hold the chalk very well. It falls off to easily and doesn't mark well. The action didn't run smoothly when reeling it in and locking it was difficult.

Nice Chalk-Box

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nicely feature rich version of most of my favorite chalk-lines. I love the reset clutch and trap door style loading. Both features make life easier when you're on the job. Fast loading and no tangles. The line is light first few uses, but line seems strong and accurate.
