[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I compared the Speedline (SL) Pro to my old Craftsman chalk line using my concrete driveway as the test area. The SL is much easier to fill than the Craftsman. I pulled the entire line out of the SL and filled it with the provided chalk. Than I cranked the line back into the SL. The ease and speed of retracting the line was amazing. I snapped lines next to each other to make a comparison. The Craftsman line was wider and dustier than the SL line. The only problem that I had with the SL was that the end clip wouldn't stay on the edge of the concrete slab unless I kept the line just above the concrete. With the Craftsman a could standup.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does what a chalk line should do. It's easy to load with fresh chalk. The cap is easy to open and has a good seal so the chalk doesn't leak out and make a mess in your pocket. The 6x gearing is really nice when reeling in after a long snap. The hook holds great on the end of a board or sheet goods. I like the button that allows letting 2-3 inches of line out and then secures it. Makes it easy to snap a line without actually having to touch the line. Only drawbacks I have is it is rather large in my small hands, but so are most other brands. It would also be nice if the end came to a point so it could also be used as a plumb bob.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chalk reel is a quality product. I was helping a buddy plan his shed, and the reel ended up getting "stolen" by his Labrador. Despite intense chewing, it still worked great! OK, so the reel is a chalk reel and it works like you would expect. The chalk is very easy to load, unlike some others, and the color is intense - very easy to see. The reel is designed so when retracting the chalk doesn't get on your hands, unlike some others. The line seems very sturdy and I would expect it to last a long time. The end is very sturdy (see dog above) and clips on and off easily by hand. It holds solidly when in use. Overall, a great product that made our job easier. But I do not recommend it as a dog toy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid feel to the Reel. Sturdy construction - should easily survive toolbelt abuse. But what I really like about this Speedline is the high gearing for cord retraction. My old chalkers have been relegated to the backup tools box back in the shop. The fast retract just makes things go so much quicker on layouts. However, I do wish that it had a decent hanging hook. I like to choose my tools based upon the job I'm about to do rather than lugging around unused kit. So, I prefer to select the tools "a la carte" from tool panels in my van and hang them to be easily visible.

This chaulk line comes with Blue non perminent chalk but is also availble with red. Nice locking feature on the fill opening keeps chalk from spilling in your tool bag or truck ! High speed retraction is a nice bonus when rewinding it, Heavy duty line keeps you from breaking a line at the worse times ! Leaves a nice easy to see line when pulled. Good size hook is nice for working alone. Good weight and feel so it makes using ithis chalk line a pleasure .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's nice to finally have a better chalk reel with improved features. I especially like the feel of it. It has a non slip coating that makes gripping it while using/rewinding much easier. Also, rewinding it becomes a snap, unbelievably fast with its superior gearing claiming 6 times faster. The newly designed hook also makes for more secure holding the end to avoid the frustration of it coming loose. Refilling it is a breeze as the top uniquely swings open to access a large opening for filling the chalk. Now my go-to chalk reel over my other older models.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the 3 to 1 geared take up on the chalk line. One turn of the handle brings in a lot of line. No more winding up a long snap and getting junk on the string - this thing makes you walk fast to keep up with the winder. The hook is great as well; it is shaped like a J vs an L, so you either get a little extra bite on thick stuff, or a solid grab on 1/4" or less material. Little to no chalk leakage when pulling line out - which it also has a clutch release so the handle doesn't have to turn when pulling out line - very cool!
