Level - Homeowner: Owned for 5+ years and all I do is change the spark plug. My 455 Rancher with xtorq runs as good today as the day I bought it. I have wooded property and cut 4-5 cords a year in addition to some property maintenance and trimming. Its die-hard equipment and has never failed me. I would highly recommend this for homeowners.

I actually got the 455 Rancher Chainsaw In a trade and never regretted it. I have used this saw on tree after tree and it has never let me down. It’s been over ten years and it still refuses to quit. A little chain sharpening and the occasional new chain are all it has ever needed. If it ever does quit, I’ll definitely be buying another one

Great Upgrade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw a few months ago to replace an older weaker saw that was breaking. I have 2.5 acres of land and needed a chainsaw to take care of the trees I have to deal with every year. So far I am please with the power, size and quality and would recommend it to anyone. Buy one of the cases for it you can keep all of your items in it.

Very reliable

Owned one of these years ago, was purchased to cut a fallen red oak with a 12' diameter trunk. Immediately I fell in love with it: never failed to start (often on the first pull), incredibly powerful, very easy to control and maneuver. Sadly it has been stolen, now a proud owner of the 450 II Rancher. Greatly resembles my old 455 Rancher.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased the saw yesterday and put in a couple hours today to clear a couple of trees down on my property. Had an older Stihl MS290 which needed repair but didn't want to wait. Impressed with the power of the 455. Its balance and smooth operation made the job so much easier. At 70 I don't handle the vibration as well as I used to.

Tough and always fires up strong

I've learned a bit about chainsaws through friends and others in arboriculture and I knew that the Husqvarna was the saw I wanted. I have worked side-by-side with fellers using my 455 Rancher and it has always performed well and consistently. I need to get a more powerful saw now for an Alaskan Mill and I am shopping for another Husky!

Bad experience

Bought this saw to clear some land and cut firewood. Thing didn't run right from day one and spend more time fighting with carb adjustment and refilling fuel than accomplishing any work! Husqvarna had a chance to convert a guy that grew up on a competitor's equipment (s---l), but they blew it big time. I won't make that mistake again.

It's a workhorse.

I actually bought it used from a service center (because my other chainsaw was misbehaving) and I will not own any other brand from now on. It always fires right up and it is a workhorse around the farm. My next investment will be in a Husqvarna 460 Rancher this Summer. Great product.

I've had this saw for a few years now and have no complaints. It always starts by the 3rd pull regardless of temperature or how long the saw has been in storage. It has the power required to cut through the hardest oak and locust around here. Very satisfied and if I manage to wear this one out it will be replaced with another Husky.

Starts right up once I figured out the personality

I was very excited to purchase this machine. My other saws were pro. quality and upper end residential. I own a farm with many trees and use the saw a lot. The 55 cc really kicks out the power along with a ripper chain to shorten up cutting time. My next saw in the spring will probably be a 460. I owned my 455 for 3 months so far.

Great saw

I bought this saw a couple of months ago to replace my old 440 that I wore out. It's a great saw only used it a couple of times the saw is great but I think the bar and chain could be made better.it got hung up on a small branch that I was cutting and well what you know got to replace the bar it won't even spin the chain around.

i have had this saw for a bit now. it was great at the beginning, but the more i use it, it bogs down under a load. It may need a carburetor adjustment, which means taking into the a shop. My brother got a Stihl and it works just as good as the day he got it. Probably should've went with Stihl but it is what it is at this point.

The 455 Rancher is the BOSS!!!

I generally cut 6 cords of wood each winter to heat my home. There's no other chainsaw I'd even consider beyond the 455 Rancher. It's as solid as they come. Always starts up. Always cuts through live and dead oak trees as if it were brand new. Dependable through years and years of use. There's just not a better made chainsaw.

Lighter and more powerful .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lighter and more powerful than expected . I have used it on larger cuts than I have ever tried before . Overall a great performer with a light weight package . It is easy to cut longer that being said It would be nice to have larger fuel and bar oil tanks . But that is such a small thing I can not get worked up about it .

Power to get the job done

Recently purchased a 455 chain saw from my local dealer based on his advice that the unit had the power to make quick work of the pile of fallen trees left on our property by the prior owner. After 3 sessions of solid cutting the pile is now down to ground level. The house will be warm this coming winter thanks to the 455.

Great overall saw

Bought this unit about 6 months ago and have to say far outperforms my previous Stihl saws. I was reluctant to switch but had heard good things about the saw. Will never go back and waste my money. It rolls around in the back of my truck and is used frequently on our farm. I believe this is the toughest saw for the money.

Tough (Rancher 55)

Bought in 2003 and still going. The original purchase for the saw was for clearing property to build house and continued use each year from there on. I use wood to heat in winter, so this saw has been extremely dependable. I have every bar I replace on the wall (total 4) and chains (42) thanks for making a great saw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my 455 Rancher Saturday and cut 1/4 cord almond firewood into smaller pieces on Monday. I cut 4 pieces at a time stacked in my cutting jig with ease. My 455 cut through that firewood like it was butter. SUPER fast. my 455 handles like a dream, I should have bought it long ago. Buy the way, I'm 87 years young.

Registration process flawed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I went to register the product. Per my product, the model is a 970 51 57-40, but the closest thing the registration process offered was model 970 51 57-20. This wasted a lot of my time trying to find the correct model number.
I haven't rated this product because I've just registered it - haven't even fueled it yet.

Great Chainsaw for the Price

Straight out the box this thing was cutting down trees I could barely put my arms around. It is really powerful. If I were to look for an upgrade just as an extra I'd have to do some research but it does the job well. If you're a beginner like me, bring a couple of extra chains, they dull after every 6 large trees.

THE Chain Saw for both a home owner / professional

The Rancher 455 is just the right balance of features, weight, handling and ease of use for anyone from a Home Owner with lots of land to the Professional. The fact is I was introduced to this chain saw by the team who were clearing our property who used Husqvarna exclusively from ground and in tree climbing work!

Very good saw for everyday tasks.

I have used this saw for lots of storm clean up and downed trees. If the chain is sharp it will have no problem cutting through just about anything. I would stick to the 18 inch bar for average use, unless you plan on felling larger trees. Overall would highly recommend over other saws. Great all around saw.

I bought my 455 rancher a few years and this last winter I misplaced it in my wood yard after a snow storm so it was covered in snow all winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan snow melted and I was able to find it a only a few pulls it fired up and ran like it was on the shelf all winter what a great saw

Great workmanship

My dad bought one 40 years ago, I was fourteen and it still works great so I’m tired of bowering his so I bought my own. The old one never failed and never had to take it into service. I’m sure this one will perform the same. I enjoy using my own saw now.

Reliable and powerful

I use non-ethanol and Husqvarna oil and I have never experienced a starting or motor problem even after sitting for long periods without starting. My dad has a smaller saw that he has had for 15 years. He is very poor at maintenance other than using sharp chains, and his also starts and runs flawlessly.

Decent saw for the money- low on extras

Decent saw. RPMs seem down from previous saws I've owned. Hate the safety chain that comes on it. Burred the dogs the first time the chain came off. No extras: no spark plug tool/screwdriver, no blade cover, no box. Starts easily, restarts are a little harder. New saw-eally don't know the durability yet.

I've owned this saw for almost two months now, and I've used it quite heavily. I'm very impressed with the power and reliability and how easy it is to start, both when cold and hot. Best saw I've ever owned. Glad I listened to my uncle and his buddy who have been running the same 455's for 7 and 8 years!

Best chainsaw i ever owned

I bought the 455 Rancher with a 20in bar about 6 months ago and im more than happy with it. The performance is incredible and its reliable. No matter how big the tree is it doesnt bog down or miss a beat. My 7 old Husqvarna 445e with an 18in bar on it performs the same way. Very happy with my purchases

I have had many saws. This saw had good reviews so I bought it. Saw starts and cuts nice.
But don’t like the drive gear. Chain go’s in the drive Easy if you are on a bench but in the cold difficult and when chain get losse it throws the chain so you need to keep chain Tighter then other saws.

Husky puts them all to shame.

I am a 67 year old land woodlands owner and have tried every brand of chain saw made I think. Junk, junk and junk, I have pulled chords thousands of times I think on chain saws that were constant problems. Tried Husky and now own three. If they fail to start in about three pulls they are out of fuel.
