Happy with my purchase, read other reviews and can't help but think there are some incompetent users out there that have no concept on how a small engine works. Have not used many other saws and read review after review in determing if this is the saw for me. The age old question stihl or husky it boils down to Ford or Chevy personal preference. Stihl Is a hundred bucks more for the 455 equivalent. So if price is the issue husky is the better choice. Have had my 455 for about 3 yrs with absolutely no problems as far as starting or running properly. Sat for over a year drained the fuel and started right up within 3 pulls 2 with choke then 1 will choke off. Only complaints would be I find myself adjusting the chain tension quite often and yes it most definitely leaks bar oil like a siv. But it runs and cuts like a champ and I find the cons can be over looked due to the performance and reliability
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used other less powerful chainsaws and assumed the difficulties I was having were user error and reality of cutting wood. Then I used the 455 Rancher and it was a game changer. Cuts through everthing like butter. I had a large tree fall in the yard and I was able to cut in quickly and easily. Now, I've let everyone know that if they have a tree down - I'm here to take care of it.
I needed a little work on my old Husqvarna 450 took it in, bought that one in 2012 still ran great. Traded up to the 455 Rancher wanted a little more power. Took down two large pine trees that night. GREAT CHAINSAW. the only brand I would recommend. this one is really the only chainsaw you need. I can't say enough about it. Got the extended warrenty with three bottles of thier gas mix.

455 Rancher
il y a 2 ans
I bought this saw as a replacement for a Husqvarna I had for over 25 years. That saw was a beast and and I cut many a tree with it. It was extremely durable and just kept on running. After 25 years it started giving me more trouble than it was worth so I bought this Rancher. I can't speak to the durability of this one yet as I've only had it for a few month and have only cut one large Cherry tree and some misc. debris across a 4 wheeler trail but it doesn't seem to have the power that my old Husqvarna did? It cuts well but it seems like it struggles a bit more than my old one. Also, after that one tree (it was a big one) and those few smaller downed trees, the chain was so dull it almost wouldn't cut anymore. I'm happy enough with the saw and time will tell on how well it holds up but it just doesn't seem to have the power of my old one and I'm not sure why the chain would get so dull so fast?
I ordered this after my Stihl couldn't be repaired anymore without major surgery (15-20 yrs old). I was going to buy another one and people kept telling me to check out the Husqvarna, glad I did, this saw cuts as good as my good old Stihl but starts easier and doesn't weigh as much..I've owned it a couple months so I don't know if it will last as long as my Stihl but it just might.

455 Rancher
il y a 3 ans
I just bought this chainsaw and expect to last 25 years or more. My Model 261 was purchased in 1997 and has worked flawlessly since then. It still works but it getting a little bit harder for me to start(I'm 67). I hope to last just as long as the new saw. For the last 35 years I've only purchased Husqvarna power equipment and have depended on the reliability of their products.
I have had my Husqvarna 455 Rancher for 8 years. I maintain it and keep fresh fuel in it. I use it year-round. It has NEVER failed to start. A tip for those that are having difficulty starting your saw. Make sure chain is locked. Turn on compression relief, prime a few times, turn on the choke. Pull on pull-cord until engine fires. Turn off choke and pull again. That's it!

Powerful Saw!
il y a 8 mois
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to cut up a huge 60” diameter maple tree by my house. This saw is a beast. I have a Husqvarna 350 a great 18” saw but I needed to go bigger. The 455 Rancher comes with 20” bar but I’ve ordered a 24” and am still waiting for the delivery of it. But with the way it has handled the 20” bar and chain I don’t think I will have any problems with the larger bar and chain!
I use mine for cutting blown down trees in the forest while camping. It’s easy to start and use - if you read and follow the instructions - and chews through wood like butter. Paired with the S2800 splitting axe, campfires got a lot easier. The saw does drop chain oil, and my big foot doesn’t fit the saw handle opening for pull starting, but I love this saw. Great product!
Bought this chaim saw 3 weeks ago to cut firewood from the trees in my yard. Good medium size saw but, I need to refill the fuel tank every 10 to 15 minutes and sharpen the chain every day. A carbon tipped chain willl help with the sharpening, but if I had to do it over again, I would go with a PRO model with a larger fuel tank.
Until then, I am very happy with Husqvarna

Great saw, but leaks oil
il y a 5 ans
This saw is a beast. It makes easy work of any job. Although it is a little heavy for this weekend warrior. My only real gripe is the leaking bar chain oil, I’m not talking a little, I’m talking the whole well will be puddled on the floor. It leaks from the seal point on the back of the bar. That being said I still love this saw, it hasn’t failed me, it started every time.

This saw does it all!
il y a 3 ans
The 455 Rancher saw is the perfect tool for felling trees on our ranch, and also does a heck of a job when we go out cutting firewood. Reliable starts, good chain speed, and doesn't break your back after a long day in the woods. Easy to maintain, my 455 Rancher has been running and cutting reliably for over 6 years, putting 80-100 hours on it per year.
Excellent saw!
I bought this from an authorized dealer and the first day I used it it leaked gas’s all over the place from a fuel line. Like that’s completely unacceptable and to then not accept a return once you put gas in it is completely Crazy. How are you supposed to know it runs if you don’t put gas in it. Don’t buy just get a sthil don’t waste yoor money or time on this brick

Great Value
il y a 4 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up a 455 rancher as a last minute replacement for one of our Stihl saws that seemed to grow legs and walk off my farm before our yearly firewood collection. Man.....we were shocked on how well the 455 Rancher worked and outperformed the other saws. We all took turns using it and all came to the same conclusion. The 455 Rancher is the best bang for your buck.
My husband purchased this chain saw new. It was very hard to start and then did not want to keep running when you would idle it. He returned it to the store of purchase for a refund that was easily returned to us.
Always had great results from Husqvarna products. Did not buy another Husqvarna to replace it. Did not want to chance it not being another good model.
Hey None to use,
Thanks for taking a moment and writing a review of your experience with your 455 Rancher chainsaw. After reading your review, I regret to see that your time with the chainsaw wasn't been the best. I want to apologize for the inconvenience you incurred with the chainsaw proving to be difficult to start and keep running. Would the saw run with the choke off? Still, I can certainly understand this had to be frustrating for you and I want to again, sincerely apologize for this. Understand this was never our intention for you as we strive to ensure that your Husqvarna outdoor power equipment is reliable, durable, and ready to take on any task. In closing, despite returning the saw, I still wanted to thank you for expressing your concerns and issues in your review. Understand that your feedback is critical to us as it allows us analyze and refine our products or processes to better serve our customers like you. I'll be sure to pass on your review to the appropriate team. Thanks again for writing a review, I apologize again for the inconvenience.

Workhorse of a saw (compares to a 2 cycle Detroit)
il y a 6 ans
I purchased 2 of these saws (455 ranchers) when I worked my demolition and excavating company. We primarily cleared land which consisted of large oaks and cedar trees here in central Tx. These 2 saws where my main go-to’s for the tough jobs. Not only did we clear land, we demo’ed houses or partial houses. These saws would fell half a house just like felling a large oak in the Tx hillcountry. Yes they leak chain oil like others mentioned..so what? If that is an issue for you then you probably should be playing with Barbie Dolls..store the saws with the oil reservoir facing up and your leak is fixed. I compare these saws like a 2 cycle Detroit Diesel...they leak oil, but will always start, and perform! I still use these at the farm when we do our annual firewood cut and can truly say that these machines are awesome. Also I noticed that the original Husky Swedish chains out last any aftermarket chains that fit these models.

Easy to Start and Good Torque
il y a 4 ans
I am a part of a disaster relief ministry and this is my favorite saw. We have 12 chainsaws total, 6 of which are the 455, but the 455 is our workhorse and go-to saw. It is easy to start and will run all day, every day with no problem. It very seldom bogs down even on the hardest wood. I highly recommend the 455 and will buy it again when we need another saw.

Great saw

I have had my saw for a little less then a year but I have used it often. A large line free cell in my yard after a wind storm and my Rancher 455 came in handy. The saw started right up no issues and cut like a hot knife through butter. This saw is great and I would recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a great all around saw for cutting up trees.

Oiler has never worked.
il y a 4 ans
I bought my first 455 rancher and it was excellent. I purchased it with a 24 bar and cut many cords of wood. I never any issues with it. Unfortunately I had not secured it very good on the way back and it hit the road and it met its demise. I loved it so I bought a another 455 rancher with a 24 inch bar again. This one was not even close to the quality of the older one. I filled it up and started cutting. I ran it out of fuel and filled it back up but no oil was used. I took it back to the dealer and they checked it out. After a few days I got it back. Still no oiler. I’ve had it back to the dealer at least half a dozen times and it never worked. I finally gave up and got a bucket of used oil and just dipped the bar in that before every cut. I didn’t care any more. It burns up chains and the bar has plenty of heat damage but whatever. It’s a good saw with plenty of power but the oiler is just weak. No other complaints.
I cut 6-10 cords of firewood a year. Is this a professional monster? No. But for It's power/price point it's a beautiful saw. I've has zero issues with bar oil leaks and I never release pressure from the oil tank...go figure. Bottom line is if you keep true to the maintenance schedule, run non-ethanol fuel with the mix, this saw will likely outlive you!
I’m on the volunteer fire department in my town and recently had a bad storm with a possible tornado that came through. With all the trees down on houses and in the roads we were called out to put in the work. This saw out done it’s self and all the other Stihl brand saws that were with us. This thing eats! Going out this weekend to purchase a new one!

Starts every time
il y a 4 ans
Bought this saw a year ago and it's a ripper. I cut trees for fire wood and this is the perfect ballance between performance, power and weight. It starts easy, first or second pull, and runs strong all the way through the cut. I believe you can not buy a better saw that limbs felles, and bucks, and does it all like it was made just for that purpus.

First chainsaw, forever fan!
il y a 5 ans
Recently retired city dweller to my own small plot of land in NC. Many tools on my list for various projects and the fence line clearing task called for a chainsaw. A fair amount of research and I went with the 455 Rancher. Easy start, great power, not too heavy and makes light work of everything I’ve run across. A favorite tool. Now a brand fan.

A pleasure to use
il y a 4 ans
Used for the first time extensively this week. Saw is an animal. Cut a pickup full of wood in about an hour. After having used some lesser powered saws this one is like winning the lottery. My thanks to the others before me that took the time to write reviews. They were dead on. This will have my family sitting warm by the fireplace this winter!
I have always had a hard time getting chainsaws started. I'm a woman that doesn't have a lot of arm strength.
One of the reasons that I went with the 455 Rancher is that is has a decompression button. All you have to do is push that button before pulling the rope, and it is soooooo much easier to pull and get it started. I couldn't believe it! Why don't all chainsaws have that? I would have bought this chainsaw a long time ago if I had known about this.
With the 20" bar and full of gas and chain oil, it weighed a little over 16 pounds. I can handle that. It certainly has enough power for me as well. It cut through 20" pine logs like butter.
One other thing that I noticed right off the bat with this Husky 455, is that the weight is distributed on the handle a lot better than my old saw, which was the same CC, bar size, and weight. It just feels easier to carry and use. More balanced. I'm really pleased with this saw.

Last time I buy Husqvarna
il y a 4 ans
It's a brand new saw that won't run. It probably needs a tune-up but when I try and go to a certified repair shop to get it fixed under warranty, I'm told I'll be charged if it's not something covered by the warranty but there's no way to tell until they take it apart. That shouldn't be how it works. If I take my car into the shop to see what's wrong with it, they tell me the issue and let me know a rough estimate of the price to repair BEFORE they charge me. For some reason a chainsaw repair shop can't do that. If it isn't covered, I'm stuck paying for the time they took to look at it. That isn't even the cost to repair it. I contacted Huqvarna about this since they said prior to all this that I wouldn't be charged to have it serviced and they didn't provide any help. I guess I'll take it to the old guy down the street that fixes small engines since he doesn't charge an arm and a leg to repair it.
Thanks for zero help, Husqvarna.

Beware Refurbished
il y a 6 ans
I bought two refurbished. The first had no tension screw and had to be returned. The second tension screw is there but barely works. Will probably try to order a new one other than go through the hassle of the return again. The chains on both were shot and had to buy a new one before I even started. Performance is ok but not worth it to me.
I bought this saw in April and have used it many times to clear a wooded lot. It has extreme power, it’s light weight, it starts easy, and has great fuel and oil capacity. The saw simply goes though any wood you put it on.
I like the 20” bar as it is large enough to cut anything most people will tackle.
I highly recommend the Rancher 455

Excellent Product
il y a 9 ans
Had for about 8 months. Have cut various tree sizes, ranging from 4" to 16". It does the job without effort, the power is excellent for the work I have to do. The best part it starts every time, this is my third chainsaw. Never will I go back to the other models. Cannot go wrong with this chainsaw for those jobs that happen few times a year.
I actually got the 455 Rancher Chainsaw In a trade and never regretted it. I have used this saw on tree after tree and it has never let me down. It’s been over ten years and it still refuses to quit. A little chain sharpening and the occasional new chain are all it has ever needed. If it ever does quit, I’ll definitely be buying another one
