Great Solid Saw
il y a 4 ans
I have had my Rancher for over 10 years now but only started using it in anger during 2020. Bought a treed property and have been taking down dozens of trees. The saw is great for 18" and under, however I have many 24" dia fallen and needing to be felled trees. Looking into buying a 24" higher powered saw for ripping the bigger trees. Had to replace the fuel primer bulb in 2019 and part of the trigger mechanism a couple months ago. Chainsaw has paid for itself already.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't really need a chainsaw so much until I moved to Oklahoma. I now have 3 acres with many trees and after a big storm came though in July I really needed a good chainsaw. My echo has always been "good enough" but I quickly realized I needed a big boy chainsaw. I purchased the rancher 455 and when I brought it home and fired it up I quickly realized there is a difference. My 455 cut through my downed cedar trees like butter. I AM SO GLAD I INVESTED IN MY HUSQVARNA!
Bought this to replace the S brand. Saw works great with a new saw chain. However, after 2-3 hours of cutting, you run out of adjustment and can no longer tighten the chain. Needless to say, that sucks. Tried the O brand chain and also a new bar. Same result. I have to find a chain break and links to make my saw chains shorter. Am recommending the saw as it is so much nicer than the S brand (always runs), but you will have to buy your chain in bulk and make your own.
I live in the Big Bear Lake area of So Cal 7,000 feet altitude. I have had the saw for a few months and it has worked perfectly. It starts on the second or third pull and has plenty of power for my needs. I use it to cut Oak for firewood and the saw goes through solid oak like butter. Largest log to date was 18 inch diameter. Cut through with no problem. Pictures are of a typical load of oak. From truck, to unloading, to stacking. Very happy with this saw.

I would recomend this saw to anybody!

I could not belive how well this saw performs!! Starts on 2nd pull every time, hit the gas and it drops to an idle, the throttle response is crazy, reminds me or a top fuel dragster! Does not leak oil as bad as some of the reviews say, i just keep an oil pad in the case when i store it, for as good as it cuts it dosent use much gas or bar oil, i could not be happier with this saw and if you are looking for a step up from a throw away home owners saw this is it!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw to replace my old 359. This is the closest saw that I could find that was comparable to the 359. I really like the new style flip caps for the oil and gas reservoirs. Right out of the box, I fueled and oiled the saw, it fired up on the 3rd pull. It runs well, but I did have to reduce the idle speed to prevent chain creep. If this saw is anything like my old Husqvarna, it will be with me for many years. I am very pleased with this purchased.
I bought this saw 6 years ago to cut fire wood. It always starts and unlike my dads sthil saws it has never broken down. Its the go to saw on the farm because of it's reliability even when dad ran it over with his backhoe it still started and finished the job. Only new parts has been chain and bar from use and a new handle from getting ran over. My saw and my 128ld weed eater that I bought 5 years ago have been the most reliable equipment on the family farm.

Eleven Years Old
il y a 6 ans
Eleven years old and first problem, partially closed fuel line. The first and only problem. I've always used non-ethanol gas, Husqvarna two-stroke oil and Stabil. My son has one that's two years old, never a problem and my dad has one several years old, never a problem with his. We each have several acres to maintain, plus what we do for friends and neighbors. Maybe three pulls to start at the beginning, then starts first pull every time. Never a complaint.

I purchased it several years ago when we heated the 3700 sq. ft. house with two wood stoves. It took two months out of 12 months to gather enough wood to heat our house in Montana. I had two other chainsaws and both could not equal the output of the Rancher.
It has remained the only chainsaw I use to clear property and cut wood. I used to run a pole farm and we used several different brands of chainsaws but the 455 Rancher was superior to all of them.
I have been using this my 455 Rancher for over a year now. I am clearing 3 acres that I purchased. The property is badly over grown. I am not a professional feller by any means, yet I am pretty well versed in chainsaws and operating them. So far I have cut every thing from 3" privet to 30" sweet gum. This saw gets it done. In my opinion it is the best farm/ranch class saw on the market. You take care of this girl and she will take care if you.

I got this chainsaw for Father's day and even though I haven't had it very long, I can tell that it will be the best one I have ever owned. It starts up effortlessly and idles great. Restarts are just as easy and anyone who has owned a chainsaw knows that can be a challenge. It cuts quick with hardly any effort at all with no vibration. I've used it for hours at a time and it didn't wear me out like most chainsaws that I have used in the past.

Somewhat disappointed
il y a 4 ans
saw seems to be lacking in power when cutting with full length of the bar and chain. It bogs down when cutting large logs. Normally I would step up a bar size on any saw, but it seems this one is maxed out with stock bar. I love Husqvarna saws, but this one seems to be under powered for that. It runs great starts easily, just seems like it should only have an 18in bar. Going to try a chain without anti kickback when I wear out the stock chain.

Put the stihl back in the barn
il y a 5 ans
I bought the 455 Rancher in hopes of replacing my worn out stilh, boy was I surprised by the power and ease of use. The 455 handled everything I needed it to and then some. I found a piece of steel in the middle of the last 20" tree but the 455 went through that too. Needless to say, a new chain is in order but the engine never even bogged down. The stilh went back in the barn to collect dust but the 455 has earned a place on my truck.

Nice saw
il y a 4 ans
I purchased this saw to use on our land I had a Jonsered saw years ago and loved it but always wanted a Husqvarna. The only thing I really disliked was the homeowner safety chain that came on the saw it didn't cut very well even sharpened! I brought the chain to a shop and they showed me the difference in chains and I purchased a good and proper chain and It's amazing how well it cuts! it runs and starts awesome and cuts like a champ!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this saw for about 6 years and its never failed to start. I keep up with the maintenance so it will run smoothly. I've gone through a couple of chains. The rivets on the end of the bar came loose, so I repeened them and greased the snout and the bar still going strong. I don't buy the premixed fuel , but I do buy non-ethanol fuel for my saws, mowers, weedeaters , generators at a local marina. Don't like ethanol fuel.
Put to work and right away ruined a bar and three chains before I realized the oiler wasn't working. Took 3 weeks to get it repaired and wasn't provided with a replacement bar or chains. With the oiler not working the chains jammed on my bar damaging both. Had a 450 for 10 years and was excited to upgrade, but am not impressed. It ran okay after the repair but a few weeks on and it's running rough and not idling well. Bummer.
My Poulan wore out after 5.5. years so I went shopping. I got a recommendation from my repair guy Mike and he had bought a 450 Rancher. He said it could handle anything that he had. I have 136 acres of hardwoods and I picked right. It has become my mainstay in cutting some of the hardest tree in the world. It is easy to start and will eat. The only drawback is there is no place on the saw to store the wrench like the Poulan had.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my Rancher 55 with a Rancher 455. I should have done this a long time ago. The 455 is lighter and far easer to start with the decompression valve. I have a bad back and I had to be very careful starting the 55 else I couldn't do the work for which I started the saw in the first place. Starting the 455 is a breeze in comparison to the 55. And the 455 can easily handle any task I might have on my 10 acres of timber.
This saw is the best home owner saw I've owned for the size.

Things that are great about the saw are that it pulls a 24" bar all day everyday with no complaints for the past 2 years. I have worked this saw through 6 bars and it's still going strong as new, 2 18" bars, 2 20" bars, and 2 24" bars. This saw has gotten me out of situations stuck in the backwoods and pulled me through jobs it shouldn't have been able to do. Overall this saw has been great to me as long as I'm great to it.
Although the chainsaw itself performs great - the low score is for the real poor appearance and condition of the saw. When I stripped it down to add the bar and chain the inside and under every cover was dirty and full of sawdust, there is initials scored into it from the previous owner, I assume, I thought that the panels would have been changed, just dissapointed that it came refurbished from the manufacturer like that.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought the 455 Rancher after much research online looking at cordless and gas chainsaws online. For me, as a homeowner and adventurer I thought that a Husqvarna is the best option. Especially if I’m in a situation where I might not have power to charge batteries. This brand was chosen because of what online reviews said of the orange brand vs. the other white chainsaw. The support I expect should be superior.
I bought my 455 Rancher in 2011 and it is still going strong. I have had to replace the carburetor because of bad fuel, but it is still a cutting machine. I live in an area hit by Hurricane Idalia and have been cutting up an extreme number of downed trees. Keep the Husqvarna sharpener handy and sharpen the chain at the end of each day. I use only pre-mixed fuel 50:1 and this keeps the saw running in top shape.
We love hearing when customers are able to run their equipment for many years! Thanks for sharing this. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to our team via live chat!

DO NOT BUY!
il y a 6 ans
Had this saw for about 5 years now and it is the worst starting, running piece of garbage ever. Quite simply, Do Not Buy It. Plugs up fast, the chain greaser is a piece of garbage and will not start even on premium gas with treatment!
Had an 85 cc. for 20 years before this one and never an issue. Honestly, I would buy an old used one before buying this one!
Guys, don’t waste your money on this saw!

Disappointed
il y a 4 ans
I would really like to like this saw, but I can't. The chain has a tendency to come off too easily. I have spent more time replacing the chain than using the machine. The problem is, every time the chain has been thrown it chews it up so it won't fit into the slide anymore. The result is a new chain. Very, very frustrating and not pleased. My Stihl didn't hold up well, but my next saw won't be a Husqvarna

Very good saw. I like it so much, I would buy another if something happened to it. Starts good and runs strong. Have had it since 2006. I use a wood stove to heat my house nearly exclusively, so it gets a good amount of use every year. Knock on wood, no problems so far, just sharpen the chain, add fuel and bar oil and go! Did have to make a minor carb adjustment early on...but nothing more since then

Oil Spill
il y a 9 ans
We purchased the Husqvarna Rancher and it performed well. The problem is it leaks oil like mad! We took it in as we were positive it was a manufacturing error. The response from Husqvarna, through the retailer, was the chain saw can leak up to a tablespoon of oil A DAY, and that is considered OK. Our new chainsaw sits in a pool of oil and it is a complete mess. The response should have been, buy a Stihl.
I have had my saw for two years now. Never had the first issue. My friends tend to call me over when it’s something bigger then they think their saw can handle or want. I have a smaller saw for clean up and prep but when I fire the Rancher up it tends to draw eyes. I love the saw it self. From the power to the feel and weight. All around I’m certain I have found the saw for me and brand for a lifetime!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Saw runs great, cuts all types of hard and soft woods, price was great, so far no issues, already burned quite a bit of fuel in it, time will tell how long this saw lasts, but I'm sure it will last along time, good for light to medium trees, will fell larger trees double the bar cut size, just be smart and use wedges if so you don't pinch the bar. Its my medium saw and I tend to use this one more.
I have run this saw for a little over two months and it is a great saw, cuts great, easy starting but recently I have found it has issues idling. Adjusted the idle and it ran okay but the next time I used it the saw wouldn’t idle again. Took it to the dealer who adjusted it so we will see what happens. I’m used to saws that you set and forget the idle speed so hope this will not be an issue.

Best purchase ever
il y a 4 ans
I made the mistake last summer buying a cheap chainsaw at a discount store. It lasted 3 weeks! My friend told me about the HUSQVARNA 455 Rancher and how awesome it has been to him. So, I decided to go ahead and spend a little more money and get a good, quality chainsaw at a fair price. I have been so happy with my purchase. I use it daily and I have not had any problems. Best purchase ever!
