The next best thing to a table saw.
il y a 6 ans
This is no table replacement, of course, but what it was designed to do it does with ease. Sometimes you'll get some kickback when cutting through knots but that's just the way it is with hand saws like this.
The compact design of the 6.5 inch blade means this thing is compact and will fit in some really weird places, and it's lightweight enough to use pretty much all day without killing your arm. The chuck is neatly tucked away near the handle so it's always with you when you need to pop in a new blade, just make sure you get a fine toothed one, especially for hardwood like bamboo, as this thing has some kick to it and it could fray a board.
I've had this saw for a few years now and it continues to preform like new. I live in Northern Alberta and use it 12 months a year. It's taken a lot of unintentional abuse... been dropped, kicked, lumber has fallen on it, sat in -30C for days/weeks and continues to work like a champ. The only thing that no longer works properly is the plastic safety guard and that's only because it was used to cut wood that had just been joined with construction adhesive (happens when rookies get excited) and has gotten inside past the spring and is difficult to move. Definitely could repair it but think I'll upgrade to the 570 or 573 7-1/". That's why I'm here, but had to share that you cannot go wrong with this 6-1/2" unit.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this 2 months ago after buying an oscillating multi-tool and loving it. Only used it for the occasional single cut. Yesterday I built a 100sqft deck. I forgot my 9ah battery at home and only had a 2ah with me. I thought, I'll run until it's dead and call it a day early. This thing made EVERY cut of joist and decking needed. It even drove all the lag bolts and deck screws. Deck done, battery life still able to do more. These things must be nuclear powered! My other battery circular saw (non-dewalt) was even enough to cut the old deck out. It could only cut maybe 10-12' of board before bat death. This was my 2nd DeWalt purchase. Officially hooked! Like with the oscillating multi-tool I want a rigid case
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this saw about a year. It’s been my go to since then. In 99% of applications it works just fine. I’ve used it from light/medium duty framing, trimwork, deck building and just about any situation you need to cut wood. The only issue I’ve had with it was when I went to cut some wet, pressure treated 2x12’s and It struggled. Hypothetically if it was all I had I could get it done but it’d put some serious stress on the saw and go through quite a few batteries. Ergonomically it’s superior to other 6 1/2 inch saws I’ve used. The knobs to change the bevel are nicer than others I’ve used and the brake stops the blade very quickly. I always carry this and 7 1/4 work drive and I reach for this 80% of the time. Does just about anything you ask of it!
This saw is incredibly simple to use, you just pop on the 20v battery, hit the button and go. Very sleek design. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is because the bolt holding the blade on is easily stripped if your not careful with it. If you tighten it down just a little too much, the bolt strips out to easily before it will start to loosen up even the slightest. I'm currently fighting to get it to loosen up with any plyers or any thing. Other than that I love using this tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I selected this saw, because I needed a lightweight, battery-powered circular saw. This "tool only" offer was perfect for me, since I already have 3 Dewalt 20V batteries, 2 are high-capacitance. This saw develops high rpm, which is great for clean cuts with carbide-tipped blades. I did not develop, though, the power I needed for one job and I had to revert to my corded circular saw. For those needing more power in a 20V circular saw, Dewalt have plenty of models to chose from.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it came time to renovate my basement, I knew I would need to update my old DeWalt 18v tools.
My wife gave me clearance to buy every tool I would need. I’ve always been a fan of DeWalt, so it was an easy choice. I loaded up on DeWalt 20v tools.
This saw is tough as nails. I use it for everything including pressure treated 2x12 stair stringers. It is super convenient to be cordless AND powerful.
If you are reading this, just buy it. You will not regret it.
I’ll admit, I was a bit apprehensive about buying this saw. I’m glad, though, I listened to the “other me”, and made the purchase.
I purchased this around December, during the “buy the batteries, get a tool” sale. I’m very glad I did. It’s lightweight, powerful and true. And the battery life is surprisingly long. I’ve used it may times since purchasing, and rarely use my corded circular, at all. The thing I like the most, to be honest, is the weight of the saw. Even with the 6hr battery attached, it’s amazingly lightweight, which, to me, is important. I’ve yet to cut anything that the 6 1/2” couldn’t handle.
As a bonus, the hubby used it, the other day. His remark about it being better than his 7 1/4” corded was all it took for me to know I had made the right choice.
He wants one.
I have one.
Nuff said. LOL!
