Just received my saw. Prior to using it I checked it for square. It was dead-on right out of the box, I didn't have to adjust anything. Haven't used it much yet, but I did find a couple minor things I don't like. The extension arms aren't level with the main table and their isn't any adjustment. Both extensions are about 3/32 lower than the table. Also, one of the clamp mounting bolts for the extension arms had the lock nut wrenched into the bolt shoulder so I couldn't get enough thread to put the wing nut on. Lastly, it's considerably heavier than my old saw - great for rigidity but bad for transport. So far all minor issues. Overall it appears to be a great saw.

The dust collector clogs up almost instantly, the build quality isn't as good as their older saws, if your not carful, and make sure the blade stop is in position you will hit parts of the saw you don't want to hit with the blade, I had a plastic piece fall off the saw as I was cutting a board, and it hit the blade, and is now in pieces, and can't be put back on (I feel it was a safety part). I do like the new cut line system, I feel it will work much better in bright light over the laser version, and the reason I gave 3 stars. I will be trying to get the piece that fell off replaced, and will have to try to modify the dust tube in order for it to actually collect dust

I bought this saw to replace a smaller miter saw. I needed to be able to cut larger width pieces. Right out of the box the I checked the miter 0 and bevel 0 and both were dead on. No adjustments needed. I have used this for two projects so far the gave the miter, bevel , and slide a good work out swinging both left and right on both scales. I am super happy with how the projects turned out with the angles being tight and clean. I also purchased the 80 tooth Dewalt 12" blade for the fine details on the Treasure Chest. I have a dust collection system in my shop and there was very little to sweep up when I was finished. I am very pleased with every aspect of the saw.

This was my FIRST DeWalt tool ever! You could never be disappointed! Endless power and perfect precision in an easy-to-use platform! This thing cut though all of the large lumber like butter! 4x4, 2x6, 2x8, it didn't matter, this saw performed beyond my expectations! Forget the other brands...I am completely satisfied and exhilarated that I purchased this saw and it did not let me down! I will never go back to other brands! If you need a saw that does it all, buy this bad boy...you won't regret it! Thanks DeWalt!

I bought my first DeWalt miter saw in 2000, it worked great. I made 1000’s of cuts with it always stayed true. The saw still works great. I needed a saw that would cut through 12” wide boards. After a long time of wanting a DeWalt sliding miter saw I got a chance to get one. This saw is awesome just awesome. The changes DeWalt has made over the past 21 years is amazing. This new saw cuts better and smoother. I love this new saw. I can cut through a 12” board now without having to turn it over and try and match my first cut. I would recommend the DWS779 saw to anyone, it is the best thing since sliced bread.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to build a work shop and although I am certainty no carpenter I have built a couple projects. I know that it is so important to have precise square cuts. Also there are many repetitive cuts that can be a pain with circular saw. This was so easy to get setup (also purchased the awesome rolling stand by Dewalt) what a great move that was. Absolutely recommend the rolling stand because this saw is heavy to tote around. With the extendable supports makes cutting a breeze. With the 12 in blade and sliding arm feature it would be difficult to find a board too wide to cut (not counting sheeting) Now that my shop is coming to a finish I am excited to start my half log siding and addition projects.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 3rd miter saw I’ve owned and so far it’s the best one. First, it was perfectly square out of the box. It’s very precise and the power is great, it literally glides through hardwood. I’ve used this saw for several projects, including a 200 foot picket fence with 2x4s and 4x4s, put down a 1200 sf oak floor, built a 4’x8’ work bench and replaced a bunch of siding and it still cuts true and hasn’t lost a bit of power. Sure that should be the expectation but you can really feel the quality of this saw. The only negative is the cute little dust collection sack (not big enough to call it a bag). It doesn’t do much but I guess it’s better than nothing. Overall it’s a great saw, especially for the price.

I purchased this saw a year ago and have used it to build chairs, coffee tables, and end tables. The saw is solid and accurate. The fence and clamp are excellent. The reason for the low rating is poor dust collection. The shroud and snorkel with bag catch very little dust. Even with a shop vac attached to the snorkel, most dust is blown to the left of the shroud. This problem is well documented online. My biggest complaint is the lack of solution from Dewalt. I will have to purchase an expensive 3D printed workaround from a 3rd party vendor to use the saw indoors.
