Chainsaw
il y a 5 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This chainsaw works great in comparison with regular gas powered chainsaws! Battery life just needs to be last a little longer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this chainsaw awhile back, being tired of messing with gas operated chainsaws, this chainsaw meets expectations!
I bought this and a blower as a combo with a 60v battery and it has been my best friend since March (sad, I know). I am a homeowner and not a chainsaw guy. I had one gas chainsaw a few years back and it never started and scared the heck out of me. The chainsaw is perfect. Charge the battery, add some bar chain oil and roll. I cut down two 30-foot maple trees, two dead cherry trees with trunks about two feet in diameter, and endless low-hanging limbs and branches. It has plenty of power and cuts like a champ. It does drink bar chain oil pretty fast and the reservoir is small, but it’s a small price to pay. If I were a logger or lumberjack, this would be a problem, but not for me and my occasional use. The battery lasts longer than I do so when I take a break I plug it in and recharge. The chain has jumped off twice but both times were my fault when I was cutting above my head (as the manual says not too) and the falling branch knocked it off. Lesson learned. The chain was really easy to get back on and no tools were needed to tighten (or loosen) the chain. I am thrilled with this purchase and am a little sad that I have nothing left in the yard that needs cutting!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this chain saw! It has gone through everything I have put it through! Its perfect for my 5 acres with woods.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw because I was sick of messing with gas. It has been awesome quick and easy to use and powerful !
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought it to cut some limbs and it works good but it will run thru battery's if you put it work. Hard
Great tool, but oil tank cap is too tight at first

The Oregon chain is sharp, the chain tensioning system is easy and tool-free,and the included 9 Ah battery and fast charger are fine. This saw stops immediately when you release the trigger, which I appreciate for safety. And the front blade guard brakes the chain effectively if the saw were to jerk upward toward you (e.g. during kick back).
What I do not like is the plastic cap for the oil fill tank, which I could barely twist open without flexing its metal hinge pin. I was afraid it might break (it has broken for some reviewers). My guess is the inner rubber seal needs some lubricant at the factory to ensure it twists open easily. It is fine once you get it open (steady, firm twisting) and add some oil.
The tool-free bar clamp and blade tensioning system also uses plastic knobs, but they are sturdier, and I have not experienced any difficulties with them. It is VERY easy to adjust chain tension. The bar has not slipped or deflected for me.
This chainsaw cuts easier and quieter than two corded electric chainsaws I have used. It is a pleasure to cut tree limbs with (walnut, oak). If DeWalt adds a sturdier (or pre-lubed) oil fill cap I'd give it 5 stars easily.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last year and have had a great experience using this saw. Would recommend to anybody.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this saw. For DYI and home owner use this is an amazing tool. Cuts through any wood with ease.
I really want to love this saw. It's got as much or more power and torque as my gas saw, and it SHOULD be lower maintenance by comparison. Unfortunately the reality is that I lose more time dealing with the various issues related to this saw compared to mixing oil/gas and doing basic maintenance on the gas unit. Common problems that you'll deal with (across 2 units, the one I purchased and the warranty replacement) include the bar flexing excessively (due to being sandwiched between 2 plastic parts) the chain popping off frequently due the the inconsistent tensioning system, frequently replacing the drive sprocket when the chain eats it due to not maintaining tension. (this was my original warranty issue, but after that I started buying replacements online and keeping multiple spares on hand). I've cut up exactly 2 large trees with this thing, but have mostly used it for removing brush honeysuckle and 20 or so trees under 3" in diameter. Pretty much regardless of how DeWalt handles my second warranty claim, I'm getting my gas saw tuned up and relegating this thing to backup duty. I love the rest of my DeWalt tools, but every company has a miss, and this appears to be theirs. :/

Works better than I thought it would!! I definitely recommend this to anyone in need......
I'm super disappointed with this chainsaw. It has plenty of power and would be perfect for the work I do around the house. The price is right too. But it's just not built to last.
I ignored the reviews about problems with fully charging the battery, leaking bar oil, the saw just cutting out and not starting. It seems that the saw will not work if the battery isn't charged to a certain level. There should be some light or indicator of this. Otherwise I thought maybe there was a short in the switch. The problem was the battery wouldn't fully charge the first time. I plugged it in, waited a few hours and saw that the light was solid on the charger. Tested the battery, and it only had one bar. It wouldn't charge anymore. So, I only got 30 minutes of work. I started to remember the reviews about this problem. That caused me to investigate further. I came across a video where the saw was deconstructed to reveal really flimsy parts. Look up BOLTR: DeWalt Chainsaw Engineering Fail.
I'm really sad that I can't add this chainsaw - which again, is more than adequate power wise - to my collection of DeWalt power tools. Hopefully they'll make a chainsaw that lives up to their name in the near future...
