Flexvolt Chainsaw
il y a 4 ans
I bought this unit about a month ago. Used it maybe 12 times in two days cutting up small tree branches. Chain went dull, tried to find a replacement chain without any luck. Then figured I would cut up the other branch and my second cut the chainsaw quit. Checked battery and oil level, both were fine. Saw is. Now sitting in my garage awaiting for Dewalt to reopen after COVID 19. My true opinion is this product isn’t worth the time to buy it. It’s garbage.
Cuts faster than my old 12" gas Poulan without all that racket, (I did need an ear muff). Cut up an old fallen 30ft. Juniper tree that had about an 8" trunk. Used 1 and a half battery to cut the main trunk and its branches into 10-12" pieces. Now I don't have to struggle getting a chainsaw started. I'm an occasional user, also not having to worrying about gas getting stale which, by the way - deteriorated the seals in the gas tank in my former Poulan.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a lot of research to find an effective, easy to manage, powerful chainsaw for occasional home use and decided on this Dewalt model. It was well worth the price I paid. It starts right up, stops quickly, and cuts through larger logs than I had expected. Because it is battery powered, it sits quietly between cuts. The battery lasts a while, but I am considering getting a second one when the price is right, that I can switch to as needed.
It tore through a 20" maple log and got excited about the chainsaw. The I tried to cut all the small branches and that's when my day of discontent began.
The saw just can't cut brush. The guide around the sprocket is too small and the chain jumps off the track when you can't maintain constant pressure.
Getting the chain back on is a hassle. I bet I spent five minutes each time and I had to do it six times yesterday. I would have done it more, but I put the chainsaw away and used my loppers.
One time I fixed the chain and then the saw would not run for more than a second. It might have over heated, but I couldn't tell. I used hand tools for an hour and then the saw came back to like.
And before you ask: Yes, I had the tension set in accordance with the instructions.
The good news is that no tools are required to get the
I use this saw to clear fallen branches and Privet Hedge on a 60 acre farm. The battery usually lasts longer than I do which means 3 or 4 hours of intermittent cutting. My observations: There is no case for the saw. I built a box that holds the saw, a replacement chain, 2 batteries and a quart of oil. You will want something similar because the saw does shed bar oil. I had a issue with the chain coming off the sprocket. I found that the sprocket cover washer had come loose. Reseating it and tightening the screw did not tighten the cover washer until I added another washer under the screw. Now the chain stays on the sprocket but I wonder if my fix is a long-term solution. I bought this saw to clear branches and brush between half inch to 6 inch in diameter. It does great with that. Other than the cover washer issue, I would recommend this saw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this tool for over a year & I can tell you from experience that this is a God send.It out performs by big Stihl & no mixing of gas & oil & is ready to use instantly.Having had & used almost every type & make of chainsaw;that if your tired of heavy, messy, & arm weary & more dangerous chainsaws;it’s so easy to use even a 70 plus man can enjoy it.Thanks Dewalt for another Superior product. This product is why I keep buying Dewalt.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is very easy to use and convenient. the only complaint i have is the blade adjustment and the mechanism used to lock the blade in. i have blades coming off constantly because the cam out on the plastic lock is not tight enough. i wish it had 2 screws holding the bar on like all other chainsaws on the market. it's a tride and true design. other then that it's much better for small jobs and for the wife to use over the stihl.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a first responder I needed something to help clear roadway for other rescue crews quickly. I’ve cut through a telephone pole and two oak trees with no issues. Thankfully it’s something I can stow in my patrol car without carrying a large gas can around. I already own many already reliable DeWalt products and having batteries which I can interchange is amazing. This is a must have especially as the storm season approaches.
I have cut down several trees 2'+ in diameter with absolutely no problem. Only recommendation I have is make sure you have 2 batteries so one can be charging while you're using the other. A 6ah battery will last approximately 15-20 mins of continuous strenuous cutting which is pretty good in my opinion. I would opt for the 12ah if you're using it constantly on a regular basis. I would give it 6 stars if I could!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this one for a year or so and I use it on the farm all the time. The bar and chain that it came with were fine, but I put a slightly heavier 16" Oregon bar and chain on mine and it cuts even better. Couldn't be easier to use. I like the tool less chain tensioner, but I find that I have to keep an eye on the bar tightener. It tends to vibrate loose. No big deal, but it would be nice if it didn't do that
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy with this product, it has handled anything i have wanted to cut up. The saw has a lot more power than I thought it would. Came with a 16" bar bent that so I bought the 18" bar to replace it and I can not tell the that it has lost any power running the bigger bar. The only problem I have with it is that I have a little trouble with the bar oil tank cap, but I do have a problem with a hand.
I purchased this DeWalt Flexvolt Chainsaw 60V. Do not purchase this Chainsaw because you can not get a replacement chain for this saw. I have been to 3 different stores that sell DeWalt products, an none of them have a replacement chain. One said they have order chains for this saw, but have not been able to get any. This a great saw but if you can't get a replacement chain it of no value.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I carried a pocket knife for years, and used if for any- and everything that came up that I could cut. It was replaced by a belt-tool that does that and more.
I've owned gas-powered chain saws - from 'toys' to big cutters - for years also. And this little gem is becoming my 'go to' for anything I can use it for.
It's really nice to just 'grab and run' to clip little things, to trim here and there, to clean up downed brush, or to limb out a bigger tree - without having to lug a 15 or 25 pound saw around. It's got power, and good stamina.
There's only one problem I have with it. The knob used to tighten the bar in place seems to 'rattle loose' with the vibration of the chain. I find myself having to check it about every third or fourth cut, and having to tighten/secure it with some regularity. But even that's a very simple task - way easier than getting out a wrench and having to 'mechanic' it.
Great saw and I love it, but it has a fatal flaw that shortens chain life and creates extra maintenance cost. The chain oiler is recessed and collects sawdust that is hard to wipe off without getting saw dust in the oil reservoir. I see this as eventually clogging the auto chain oiler, damaging the chan and requiring a new chain and the auto oiler to be cleaned out or repaired.
Bought this for my father. I ended up using it when his gas saw stopped working and would not stay running. This thing is snappy! Instant speed and cuts great! I did not have any issues with the saw. Cut down 4 trees at approx. 8in circumference. No kickback, and also the 60V 9AH battery had plenty of charge left. Would recommend this product and will be purchasing for myself.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw a last year for smaller jobs around the farm, times I did not want to get out the big gas powered saw. Well since I have bought it I have not got the gas powered saw out of its case. I have even bought the 18 inch bar for the saw. Love it, wish I had this thing 20 years ago. I would say the only gripe I have with it is that sometimes it leaks a little oil
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw to keep the tree's trimmed around my vacation rentals. The power and ease of use are amazing! It's a huge timesaver not having to mix oil and gas without sacrificing power. I also love the tool free chain tensioner and the remarkable battery life the 60 volt battery pack has. If your looking for a great all around chainsaw this is it!
This chainsaw has met or exceeded my expectations. I bought it after we had a major ice storm in Oklahoma and I had to do a lot of limb trimming and cutting. The chain oil will not leak if you buy and install an o-ring with a 1" or 1 1/8" ID. I can't remember if it is a 200 series or 300 series o-ring. Any hardware store will have the o-ring in stock.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned this for about 2 years & only use it at a vacation property. Because of that limited use, it allows me the freedom to store it & fire it up 6 months later with no issues. I've dropped trees almost 24" in diameter & cut them up on just around 1 battery & cleaning brush & trimming limbs is simple I've cut for numerous hours on 2 batteries.
I have used this saw 5 times. All on small branches 5inch in diameter and less. Its been used 6 times since purchased in feb 2021. Smoke poured out of the thing on its last use. If you don't store it with the oil fill cap pointing up. you will have a mess to clean up from the oil leaking out. I am sending it back for warranty repair today.

Dead on arrival, oil reservoir cap also broken
il y a 6 ans
Charged battery, saw dead - completely unresponsive. Oil fill cap also required a lot of force to rotate the first time and, due to a mis-installed pivot pin, broke.
I am a professional woodworker with 40 years of chainsaw experience and very nearly every power tool you can name, corded or not. I depend upon tools that actually work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently bought this chainsaw kit, it works great for me. I have a 16in gas chainsaw and this is every bit as good. Never bogs down, and the best part its noise free. I heat my house with wood and plan on using this alot. This is a great addition to my chainsaw fleet. I can't wait to see the other 60V tools down the road.
I work on the road all the time and purchased this saw so I would not have to carry gas and oil for my chainsaw. I am a fence contractor and this saw fits the bill perfectly. It will let me trim tree branches, trim boards, cut post, etc. without the hassle of starting a gas saw. The battery last ample amount of time.
Got this saw, only used twice, cuts amazing! But it leaks bar oil no matter how it’s stored, makes a huge mess, very disappointed wouldn’t recommend if there all designed this way! Also the oil fill cap never came with a oring installed, replaced with a oring and now oil leaks internally throughout the saw
I am an avid Dewalt user and have been rounding off my collection of 60v units. The first one I got had a bad kickback brake and burned up the motor in seconds. The 2nd one worked fine but wouldn't cut a 5" log for beans. Returned and will have to use a gasser until another option becomes available
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this saw for a while, and it is a BEAST. Has no problem taking down 14in Dia. trees. Yeah.. It's plastic. BUT it's very portable, handles well, has plenty of power and best of all... NO GAS. No gas smell, no mixing, no pulling on a cord, no cussing and almost maintenace free. Love IT!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first Chain saw that i've ever owned. I have lots of dead trees/forest around my property and I've been using this chain saw all summer and it's being running very smoothly, by the time the battery dies, i'm pretty much ready to take a break anyways. Happy with the purchase!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this product a little over a year ago, and I am so happy I made this purchase. I've used it for so many tasks around the yard cleaning up fallen tree limbs to removing un--needed trees to clear paths. It has surpassed my expectations. The battery lasts about as long as I do
A year and a half of use and the saw stalled on me and never went again. Sent it in for repair and been waiting 2 months to get it back and still no word back! Frankly disappointed and frustrated by the length of time it's taking for it to show up. A buddy of mine is in the same boat!
