Great tool
il y a 6 ans
Bought this chainsaw a few months ago and it has been meeting my demands everytime. The chainsaws battery life cant keep up with a gas powered chainsaw but I have multiple batteries and chargers so I can work non stop with it. I'd say it gets about 20 or so cuts on a 12 inch log per charge on 6 amp hr battery depending on sharpness of the chain. Its definately useful when only needing to make a few cuts instead of using a gas one that needs to be warmed up before use.
Only downside of this chainsaw is that you need to empty the bar oil after each use otherwise what's left in it slowly leaks out.
Overall great product for those not using chainsaw full time and dont like dealing with mixed fuel gas ones.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my third chainsaw I have used and my current go to chainsaw. it is versatile and easy to use. Compared to a gas chainsaw it is incredibly light weight yet still feels solid. I currently use the 12 amp battery size and that enables me to do a lot of clearing of very large black cherry trees, poplar, red oak, and maple all ranging about 14"-20" width. Even when the tree's are slightly larger the 16" bar performs amazing even with the hard woods. My only suggestion is to ensure you have backup batteries and keep an eye on the chain tightness as mine cut into the plate.
So I bought this about a month ago to clean up a few trees that had been cut down at a property I recently purchased. I headed up to the hills last weekend brought a quart of oil and 5 batteries. I got started on the small trees and was blown away. This thing eats wood for lunch. I then wondered if it could handle the larger trees. I chewed through those as well. I went through three batteries and and about half a quart of oil. I took care of all four trees. I thought this chore was going to take me more than one weekend. I stayed at it for most of the day and knocked it out. This is the best tool purchase I have made in awhile. I just couldn’t believe how lite the chainsaw as and how well it performed. Five star!!
I purchased this chainsaw about a month ago and have used it on and off for two days straight with zero issues. I would have given a five star rating but they only give you a regular charger (DCB115) with this kit. All my other Flexvolt purchases/kits came with a fast charging (DCB118) battery charger. Why doesn't this kit come with one?
The only cons I can think of for this saw is that the chain loosens quickly, leaving the user to tighten it often or it'll slipe off the bar. It does use a considerable amount of oil but the resivor isn't that big to start with.
Have had my saw for 3 months now and used it often. Mostly cutting mesquite which is quite hard wood. Cuts like butter through it with little effort. You do have to fill bar oil quite often but I like a short rest once in a while anyway. Finally had to replace chain with another Oregon chain and once again it was off to the races. If you want something for work this might not be for you but I have used it a lot on my six acres and battery lasts a really long time. One of the best purchases I have made. Also got a blower and weed eater and love them also.
I bought this saw about one year ago and it worked great for a few weekends. It didn't leak bar oil but used a lot of it. Drive sprocket screw came off and was lost. So I went back to the Stihl gas. Ordered new screw , chain ( hit a nail or something in a small tree) premium bar oil. It worked for one second. Sent it back to Dewalt. 8 months goes by. Finally a brand new one. It worked great for about an hour. Sparks came from the motor after cutting 3 inch diameter limbs. It was working great. I wish that I had never bought it. I hope I can still get a refund.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw a year ago and have not really used it too much. I noticed the chain oiler was not working yesterday so I took it apart to see why. Turns out, Dewalt used a really poorly designed little plastic nub that the oil pump cam rides on to make the piston cycle in and out. Well, that has snapped off with no reliable way to fix it so now the whole saw is junk. The saw did have lots of power and decent battery life, but none of that matters when the chain is not getting oiled. This saw was built in 2022 so hopefully they have fixed this flaw by now.

This thing is absolutely perfect for my needs, a chainsaw for 30-45 minutes half a dozen times a year. No messing with gas, you pull the trigger, cut down a tree, put the saw down and do what you have to do. Then pull the trigger again and cut something else, no yanking on a pull cord or playing with chokes. I've had it for a week and cleaned up my yard immensely. I bucked a 16 inch (100 ft) oak tree cut down by hydro and left at the end of my driveway in manageable pieces. I cut down a 100 foot pine tree and cut it into pieces for the fire pit.. I've cut down a bunch of swamp willow.. I don't think it will replace a gas chainsaw for somebody running a logging operation buy for my needs it bang on. I recommend this product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i bought this ,because i could never get my gas one started . i had 12 trees to cut down , i have this 60 v chain saw as well as the 20v max 12 inch . both are great for the task . the bigger one is (60v) is just as good as my gas chain saw , even better because it actually starts . lolo when the job was done i had 5 total cords of wood , both saws performed flawless . one star was removed for having to change batteries so much on the 60v . the 9.0 amp hour batts did much better , but youll need about 4 to rotate in and out to cut all day , but that was sun up to sun down .keep in mind i cut down 12 trees about 100 - 150 feet tall branches , and all . bottom line anyone want to buy a seldom used (started) gas chain saw for cheap ?
Leaks oil from day 1. Terrible design. Adding oil to the reservoir means adding dirt, dust, and wood chips, even if you clean the spout well. In general, I decided to go all in on 60V DeWalt. Their tools have continued to fail for me and are comparable to cheap Riobi power tools. I have invested thousands, giving them a second chance. Tools that have failed for me include drills, impact drivers, air compressors, weed whackers, and now the cheap chainsaw. However, their prices continue to go up. Amazing the lack of pride and cheapness in their products.

Convenience and versatility are the key
il y a 5 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a chainsaw carver/sculptor, I wanted a battery powered saw for indoor use. After reviewing different brands, I concluded that the 60v Flexvolt was the go to saw. I changed the bar to a 12" dime tip with a 1/4" drive carving chain.
As far as product review, the battery will outlast the oil reservoir so you need to watch that. The saw is balanced well and doesn't lose power when making full cuts. Even with safety equipment, the electric brake gives a little more peace of mind by stopping the chain when you let off the trigger.
The 60v Flexvolt is so handy, I purchased a second and use it for 'normal' chainsaw use. DeWALT saws far exceeded expectations to the point I got the 20v chainsaw as well. They have me sold on all their tools
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had a gas husqvarna 16 inch that needed some repairs and I purchased a brand new one . But to add to the headaches the refueling, loud noise, stalling and not to mention pulling and pulling to get the machine started
I instantly returned and picked up the 60v saw. It was number 1 added on to my dewalt line, 2 instant power, 3 quiet 4 power and 5 convenient
I will say the 9.0 amp does get some work done
I used the saw for firewood and performed great on 12inches and under logs, once above this size it wore down the battery fast
This is terrible. I wish I could get my money back

I bought this two seasons ago. I used it for a few months with no issues at all. Then the chain kept coming off the sprocket, followed by the screw that holds the washer over the sprocket becoming stripped. A bought two screws that were insanely expensive for screws. I bought two because I suspected it would happen again. It did after only a handful of uses. I replaced the screw again, only this time used a lock washer to keep it tight--worked longer, but eventually failed again. Now the chainsaw is destined to be recycled and I need to purchase another one. As for power, that wasn't an issue. When it worked well, it worked well. But what good is a chainsaw that has a screw that always strips. What a wasted of money! Two years of use and it's now junk

Always ready to work!
il y a 4 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I simply do not want to mess around with gas motors on my equipment. They require constant maintenance and stop working when I need them. When my son recommended your 60V chainsaw, I was a bit skeptical and spent a lot of time watching reviews. Most reviewers liked it, so I decided to try it. I bought mine with a 9 amp hour battery and am very happy with it. My first project was clearing trees that had overtaken my pond. It worked flawlessly on dozens of trees. Great product Dewalt. I am now looking at your 60v weed trimmer!
First Battery operated chain saw. Have owned alot of gas powered saws. First time cutting up a large oak tree that fell on my property and this Dewalt saw was totally impressive, not what I thought. I have the 16" FlexVolt saw, it cut through like it was going through butter. No issues at all. Advice, buy an extra battery to swap out and keep the job going. Battery life is good, but having an extra one helps. Totally pleased. Only three saws to own... Stihl (Gas) Husqvarna (Gas) and NOW DeWalt (Battery. All the rest are junk.
I was looking for a electric chainsaw that I could quickly pull out to complete quick tasks. This chainsaw exceeded my expectations for performance of an electric chainsaw. It was easy to use and had plenty of power. Unfortunately, after about the 3rd battery the motor started smoking and quit running. Lucky I only bought it a few weeks ago so I was able to take it back to the store for a refund.
I really liked the chainsaw and would like to get another one but am hesitant because of the motor issue I experienced.
I bought the saw yesterday and was reading the manual while waiting for the battery to charge. There was no bar oil included, but I have lots of it.
When reading about operating it, I came across a statement in the manual to never use it as a left handed person would, with right hand on the handle and left on the trigger. My Current Stihl 036 that I've used for 20 years works fine left handed, but is not ideal. This saw is designed to thwart left handed people even more.
I'll try to use it right handed, and will update the results. I'm a bit afraid that it will be unsafe for me to operate it right handed, since its a very awkward position for me. We'll see.
As others have noted, the oil plug is stuck initially, and takes a lot of force to open. Then its OK.
I have used this sparingly as since I bought it last year. Less than 10 uses. Probably more like 5 and it was a nice little cutter until it died. i can't get the battery to charge past two bars so I'm thinking it is dead so I'm not sure if it is the battery or the saw's motor but at the price to replace either of the two it doesn't really matter. Won't be purchasing any more Dewalt Products again. Really wish I hadn't just bought the Dewalt pole saw.I'm sure that will be a disappointment too
I have nothing nice to say about this chainsaw, there are three major issues with it. 1) The chain tensioner is constantly loosening up, this is even after tightening the assembly with an allen. 2) The oiler apparently has a common issue where it stops oiling, so say goodbye to your chain and bar. 3) The oil leaks everywhere all the time unless you leave the whole chainsaw on its side.
Overall I'm very disappointed in the quality of this tool, I expected a lot better from DeWalt.

Do Not Buy. Awful Quality

I only bought this two months ago and has been back for repair twice under warranty only to fail a third time. The chain keeps coming off the sprocket, followed by the screw that holds the washer over the sprocket becoming stripped or the washer fails. It continues to do this after only a handful of uses. I replaced the screw again, only this time used a lock washer to keep it tight--worked longer, but eventually failed again. Now the chainsaw is destined to be recycled and I need to purchase another one. As for power, that wasn't an issue. When it worked well, it worked well. But what good is a chainsaw that has a screw that always strips or washer fails What a wasted of money and wish I never purchased now. Its a shame as other DeWalt tools I purchased have been perfect, this just seems poor quality.

My experience after 2 months of occasional use
il y a 2 ans
As long as I keep the chain sharp, the saw cuts well. I am not disappointed with power, no vibration is nice. It doesn't leak chain oil, so I can keep in my house without any mess or smell. I bought two extra batteries, but I can manage to fill the ATV cart with logs on one battery. I have two issues:
1. There is a reverse thread bolt that holds a keyed washer onto the sprocket. This bolt backs off. Before cutting yesterday, I put blue theadlock on the bolt which seems to have done the trick.
2. It gathers shredded wood inside in the vicinity of the sprocket...a lot of shredded wood. Eventually the chain will come off, even though I keep the chain fairly tight. I have been cutting my firewood for 30 years, I know about chain tension. Fortunately, removing the cover is fast and easy without any tools.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw about a month ago and i love it. I have used it to xut through a 14 inch tree trunk and it did great. I find that the battery holds up well and i can run the saw for over an hr on the 9 amp hr battery. The instant power and the auick stop of the chain when you release is great.
The downfall i see is the safety. It is an akward position if you want to use the saw in anything besides the standard position. Also i have had the bar tightener loosen up when using it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As others have mentioned, the oil tank is small, requiring it filled ofter. The toolless chain tensioner is convenient and functional, but does not secure the bar very well and feels like it will fail at any moment.
Otherwise, i love this saw. It cuts up 12-16" hardwood logs like butter. The motor has great power and battery life is surprisingly good. The chain stops instantly when you release the trigger, so it is very safe to use. I'm familiar with using gas chainsaws. This Dewalt 60V isn't goinf to lead me into getting rid of the gas saws, but it sure is nice being able to set a saw down anywhere you please not having to worry about starting the grass or leaves on fire due to a hot muffler. This saw cuts wood quickly, has a good balance to it and should be a very low maintenwnce saw. Glad i got one!
I bought the saw a couple of weeks ago and it operates just fine for what I use it for, but the only complaint that I have is that Dewalt doesn't make a case for it. The saw body is too long to fit in a generic case and the bar oil likes to drip after use which creates a small mess. I had a reaction to a special mat on my bench that I use for maintaining other tools and caused the rubber underlayment to mis-shape and create a bubble. Plus a decent case would protect the saw.
I've had my saw for a about 1.5 years . I actually prefer it over my Stihl saw for some tasks. The other day the chain oil stopped pumping and over heated the chain/bar before I noticed. Looking into the issue i found that lots of people have the same issue. There's a small pin that breaks off (cast aluminum) and the pump stops. This is probably a manufactures defect but I haven't sent mine in for repair yet. Waiting to see if the repair is covered under warranty first.

il y a un an
Cuts great for a few batteries but is really only good for trimming trees. We used ours to cut trees up and it only lasted three batteries. Took it in and got another and this one lasted longer but right at a year it quit. Probably cut a pickup full of wood. Chain cuts into the plastic case and nothing on the sprocket to keep it in place. Really a bad design. Leaks oil all over the place if setting up right. They probably should have hired a better engineer to design it.

Very disappointed!
il y a un an
I am a huge Dewalt guy!! I have just about every tool Dewalt makes, and am very satisfied with most of them. This saw is not one that I’m satisfied with! It has good power for a battery saw. The problem is with the oil reservoir, I have had this thing less than a month and it has leaked out all of the bar oil. It is leaking up inside the saw. Very disappointing. Now I have a huge oil stain on my shed floor. I will be returning this item. Maybe it’s time to try Milwaukee?

Nice but leaks
il y a 4 ans
I have owned this saw about 8 months and have mostly sawed branches up to 10" dia. or so. It saws well and I like the simplicity of not having gas/oil mix, spark plug, etc. Only problem is the oil leaks all over so you have to put paper down under it in the garage to protect the floor. Partly for this reason it would also be nice if it came with a case. It goes through a lot of oil due to the leakage problem. I may have to contact the company if I can't fix this problem.
I have not used the chainsaw yet. filled the resevoire with bar/chain oil (only about 1l4 full) according to the level indicator window. The next day notice a puddle of oil under the tool. Thought I was storing it wrong as it has the ability to hang the tool on the wall with the chain pointing down. Once it was hanging properly it leaked worse as the level indicator window is now pointing downward. Apparently its the level indicator window that is leaking.

I work as a landscaper and moonlight as an arborist, and I can fell and buck a 15 foot Wasingtonian Palm with it and two batteries no extra charge, but next time will bring the felling saw for the heavy lifting. It is nice to know what it can do in a pinch, but it is not a replacement for a big saw.
The perfect kit to start with and, I wish they sold, would be two batteries and a fast charger. That is also what I think about most of thier lawn care tools.
