Cette scie à chaine 20V Max possède un moteur sans balai lui conférant une autonomie supérieure. La chaine bénéficie d'un ajustement de la tension sans outil et est lubrifiée automatiquement. I purchased this saw last summer to use for camping hunting trips. Did not use it till this winter to trim trees and pruning. Saw worked fine all day then wouldn’t turn over. Checked battery and still had 2 bars on a 9amphour. Looked at saw and there was bar oil leaking from motor cover. For what ever reason this saw won’t turn motor now. Of course I didn’t register warranty so now I screwed!

Loved this chansaw until it stopped working

I came here looking for solutions to my chainsaw that was great until it died. Did not get much use out of it before it stopped working. Tricky trigger button (possible source of problem) seemed to have intermittent issue when new. Unit would start up and then stop. Then it would work fine - used it for a few home projects. Put it away for a year, brought it out and it worked until it just died. It is just out of warranty, so I don't know what to do - repair costs nearly as much as a new one, and concerns with reliability (based on the numerous complaints here) make me wonder if there is a defect. Is there a newer series since 2019 where any known defects have been resolved? Would buy again if there was some certainty. The chainsaw was otherwise well balanced, easy to use, and worked great when it worked. I used it maybe 3-4 days in 3 years, and would be using it this weekend if it still worked.

Very impressed until...

I was impressed with how this saw worked, even bragged it up until it started acting up. When I depressed the trigger, it hesitated or would not run. Now it will not work at all. I used it around the house when I first got it a few years ago. The warranty is up and so are my hands! I use other Dewalt tools professionally and the quality has always been there, but not with this little saw.

Great saw!!

I borrowed this model from my neighbor once to cut down an overgrown shrub and couldn't believe how powerful it was. My wife got me one for Father's Day and I use it all the time. We have since moved to the country and I have about 8 acres of timber. We use it all the time to trim trees and cut up fallen trees for firewood. I have yet to encounter a project it can't handle.

Easy, light weight, and powerful

Love it! Recommend highly, so far we have used it to cut down 12" trees without fail. It does use alot of oil so have plenty on hand. We have yet to have to get out our heavy gas power chain saw for our needs. Husband bought it for me as it is light weight and easy to handle, now I can't get it away from him. So far we have taken atleast 20 trees down and countless limbs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great powerful tool. Works as described and is easy for anyone who is new to chainsaws. The only flaw I see is the oil runs out quickly and if not drained it will make an oily mess on your floors. Other then that it’s perfect, cuts well, easy to use, easy to sharpen and very handy for our needs. I am looking into the 16in as well to add to out collection. Thank you dewalt.

excellent performance for its size

I purchased this saw to take camping and driving up seldom used logging roads. I have used it cut firewood for camp and to clear any downfall on the roads. I have used gas powered chainsaws professionally and have found the battery powered machine idea for my needs. No need to mess with the old gas/oil mixtures and how to dispose of the stuff at the end of fall.

Great General Purpose Chainsaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a week ago. Charged the battery and the next day used it where we are clearing an area. Used it to limb several trees to be felled. Limbed the trees, about 40 cuts of 2" or less, then felled the trees. 4 trees, trunks were 6-8 inches in diameter. Then cut those up to add to my firewood pile. Probably 80 heavy cuts and then cutting scrub down. Checked the battery and still had 75% of the charge left.
I bought this with some trepidation, I had been using a gas powered 12" saw and after 2 years it gave up the ghost. Had a friend who had an older model DeWalt and he was happy with it so I bought mine. It doesn't run as fast as a gas saw but so far it does everything I bought it for. I own other DeWalt tools and they all work just as advertised.
I recommend this saw if you're just looking at doing light/medium work around the home. No gas/oil/pull to start, just press the trigger and do the work.

Awesome little saw

i purchased this saw to do some cleanup work around my property. little did i know just how much i had to do. this little baby has definitely stood up to the challenge. i am absolutely amazed at how well it performs. it has out performed most of the gas chainsaws i have owned over the years. i highly recommend 20V MAX* XR® Compact 12 in. Fantastic, but oil leakage!

Fantastic little saw but the oil leakage coming from the bar oil filler cao, as well as bar oiler area is way too much. When using the saw, it leaks heavily out under the sprocket area / bar oiler. When it's resting, it's heavy leakage from under the filler cap. There is no gasket on the cap, that's for sure...
Is this normal?
Any tips here???

Great Saw..... leaks!

Bought this saw in a pinch. It works for everything that I need it for. However, It leaks oil horribly. First time, it leaked all over the passenger seat of my truck. I thought I didn't have the cap on tight enough, after the second leak out in my garage, I realized it wasn't me. It was the saw.... big time design flaw. But... still great saw.

Good for just making a few cuts

If I hadn’t already been invested in dewalt, I would not have bought this. There are much better options. It’s almost worth buying off brand and getting a couple extra batteries for that brand because this is a bit of a disappointment. First, I wanted a top handle cordless saw for cutting branches off of a ladder. It is awkward to hold one handed because the handle is placed too far back and is not balanced. Second, it is heavy. Even for being a plastic small saw. 9 pounds. Not exactly something you can use for a while in the tree. Third, the chain speed is very slow Making it more prone to binding up. Fourth, it does not have variable speed throttle. One speed and it’s a slow speed. Fifth, the non variable speed throttle had to be squeezed hard. Really hard. This makes you for fatigued in your hands and arm having to squeeze so hard not to mention the weight of the saw. Well I own it but I will be buying a better option because this saw sucks

New chainsaw...dead/faulty battery came with it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this chainsaw on May 17, 2024, I got everything ready for it oil, battery charged...just to find out the battery is faulty, it worked for about 20 mins, died so I charged it back up...took over 4 hours went out to do a little more cutting & the battery was dead. But I had just taken it off the charger so I thought that was strange, push the button on the end of the battery to see if the lights would turn green...no lights at all of any color, put it back on the charger & it said that it was fully charged. Not at all happy about this!!! I like Dewalt tools I have a few of them...but unfortunately I can not find my slip showing that I just bought it, so now I am stuck with a tool that I can not use till I can come up with the money to buy a new battery for it.(the chainsaw came with the battery & charger). When the battery was working the tool worked great, I have not problems with it, I am just upset with it coming with a faulty battery.

Great functionality and very Useful!

I had underestimated this chainsaw - doing clean up around the property and this chainsaw has been put to the test...and hasn’t failed! It’s the perfect size to teach with as well.
The oil reservoir tends to run out faster than I’d like, but it’s a good amount too as it gives me reason to stop and rest. Thanks for a great product Dewalt!

Disappointed - expected better from DeWalt

We purchased this saw a couple of years ago. It has seen very light use in cutting up small branches and limbs, less than about 5-6 hours of use overall. Today we got it out, it started to run for about a minute, then quit and will not start again. Tried a different battery with no success. It is acting like it gets no power at all.

Great for the wife!

I bought this last summer for my wife to be able to cut up smaller limbs, etc., for backyard campfires because she can not start my Husqvarna. This thing works great. We have a few larger amp hour batteries for the 20V system. I've used it to trim shooting lanes for my deerstands; just a bit quieter! Works great! Highly recommend.

Thought I would give it a try. Dewalt is my tool brand for most of my stuff so I was sold on the brand. Went out and cut my first fully charged battery full 6 pieces of oak on the ground once battery dead 5-9 inch. So it only came with one battery. I had a couple 3amh batteries so I thought let's give it a try. It died before I could cut one 9 inch piece of oak. Yes all batteries fully charged. I placed it on the UTV Seat for the ride home it leaked most of the oil all over my seat and when I placed it on the table in my garage the oil continued to leak out. I started a chat with Dewalt they told me you have to drain the oil after every use. So I said lets see how this goes I placed a cup on the table and started to drain the oil 50% in cup rest on table. Not all would come out so it will now drain out onto floor in garage.
Was happy with the thought of this purchase but I will be returning if possible. Sorry I can't give this a positive review

Great home use

It works great on anything 6 inches and smaller. May take a little longer than a gas powered unit, but with the battery you don't have the hassle. Larger branches will use up the battery quicker too. All in all good product.

Great compact chainsaw.........while it worked

Enjoyed using this 12" chainsaw on limbs and small trees until it stopped working. I used it 3-4 times over the year but it became intermittent and then just stopped completely. Got it replaced in a quick 4 days from a DeWalt repair center. Rating it 3 stars because it is a nice, handy little chainsaw but shouldn't have failed.

Great tool

Bought a 20Volt pole saw. Liked it so much thought I would try this 20Volt chainsaw. Love it. If I am going to cut a load of fire wood I take my Sthil, but to cut a little brush or limbs here and there I take the Dewalt. It's quiet and efficient. No tools needed to tighten chain.You will wear down before the battery wears down.

Amazing versatility

Great little saw

Bought the Hedge trimmer and they worked great so I bought the saw. Do a lot of pruning and it's a great little saw to climb up in those apple trees with. No problems at all, I wouldn't buy this for cutting firewood or for logging but for cutting branches and doing some pruning you'll be glad you bought it.

A hard-working little saw

I received my DeWalt cordless chainsaw for a Christmas present 3 years ago I have not had one single problem with it. It is a blessing to have. People laugh at me about my little cordless chainsaw until they see it run and then I'm the one laughing at them. Thanks DeWalt for making such a great product.

Chainsaw stops working

I bought this chainsaw two or three years ago the Dewalt 12 inch cordless electric. I was very happy with it until two days ago it completely stopped I’ve changed batteries recharge batteries absolutely nothing. I can find nothing about how to fix it or what to look for beyond what is in the manual.

Great clean up saw

Have use this in the past years around the house. With Hurricane Ian just passing us. This saw is a champ for the clean up with cutting up the fallen limbs that have broken off the tree trunk. It does have its limits. I’m glad I purchased this product and highly recommend it for the small stuff!

Leaks oil and electric motor seized

Bought as alternative to gas chainsaw. Immediately noticed oil tank leaks. Oh well, I'll just put rag under and keep. We had storm damage with 3 tree limbs down. Chainsaw was still on first battery and quit working. Electric motor is seized and will no longer turn even with chain removed

Probleme d huile

J ai achete ce produit il y a trois mois et depuis que je travaille avec j ai des problemes avec l huile qui coule tout le temps. Je l ai utilisee au froid et le bouchon a l huile s est casse tout de suite. Tres ordinaire comme scie. Et elle ne tourne pas assez vite pour l ebranchage

Yes owned. Sold both my gas saws and will never ever own a gas saw again.
We burn wood and this saw cuts all of our wood no problem. Also have the bigger deal saw buy this one has spoiled me.
