Works great for little old ladies too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this chain saw last fall and love it! I am 73 and live alone on several acres out in the country. Limbs of some trees get broken in storms and always fall in the area I mow. This chain saw works great to cut them out so I can move them out of the way! I have used it to trim some dead branches off trees and trim an old apple tree. It hs pretty to power to go for an extended period. it is easy for me to use, not too heavy, and just perfect for cleaning up area a large yard with lots of trees! I steppe being able to use a gas chain saw years ago. Switched to corded electric but that was getting to be a pain hauling all that long heavy extension cord around. This one is perfect for my needs. Thank you, Dewalt!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this saw for a year now and I am greatly impressed with it. With the 5 amp hour battery I was able to cut up an entire 30 foot male tree. It has plenty of power for it's size though you must start the chain before touching the wood or it won't go. It does leak a little oil when sitting. Sometimes sticky shavings will get built up and you've got to stop and clean it out. I thought the on/off trigger switch (not a variable speed) would be an issue but either I've gotten used to it or it's not a big deal, I don't notice the lack of variable speed.
I picked it up recently and was impressed with the way it worked. It cut through a branch that measured 9 inches across after cutting. It limbed, cut and performed great. I have only one drawback which prevents me from going to 5 star and that is the trigger switch. Being on the side makes it more cumbersome than the traditional top, thumb trigger lock out. I found I had to roll my hand in uncomfortable position to use it, unless I pulled the trigger with my middle finger, index finger on the top of the handle and the thumb on the lockout.
I really like this saw. It’s so easy to grab and go for lighter jobs than having to fire up one of Stihls.
The only thing I do not like is that it slings an ungodly amount of oil. (That be a defect. Or it may be adjustable. I don’t know.) It will run out of bar oil in about ten minutes of total run time. Not enough time for the battery to not show all three lights on the tester. I don’t know if I should make a warranty claim (it’s only a couple months old) or figure out how to adjust the oil flow.
Except for that issue, I love it.
The saw works great and it's really handy not to have to mix and fill with fuel when there's a branch or small tree that needs a quick trim. Unfortunately, it leaks most of the bar/chain oil out of the reservoir when not in use. It leaked all the nice clean oil out overnight and made a huge mess on my shop floor. We have several DeWalt tools and this is the first one that has disappointed me. Looking at the other reviews here it seems that there must be a design flaw in the DCCS620. Leaking oil makes a mess and is a fire/safety hazard.

Dead

Bought the chainsaw 3 plus yrs ago. I'm 73 and needed a few things cut down around the house we just bought. Worked great for a dozen or so cuts and then put it away. Needed to cut some branches yesterday, it spun once and quit. DEAD! I have dozens of 20 volt tools and batteries and I'm at a loss as to how it won't work after just sitting around in a cabinet. And yes it leaks oil. Seems like it's probably the switch or safety but the repair costs almost as much as just buying another. NO I won't do that. Come on Dewalt!!!

Purchased 2 - they both leak all over everything
il y a un an
I purchased one saw and it worked so well that I purchased another saw for a gift. However, I warned the person I gave it to that mine leaked oil all over and be sure to put down a plastic sheet. Sadly, the second one leaked as bad as my first one. I then looked at the reviews and noticed this is a chronic problem for this saw. Is there a fix? It is sad that something working so well is hated simply because the oil leaks all over the place. It would be 5 stars easy if you can solve the oil leak issues.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I'm sorry you weren't pleased with the DCCS620P1. Your feedback is valuable as we take into consideration every piece of feedback that we come across. We would recommend draining the oil from your saw after each use to avoid any oil leaking out. It is feedback like yours that allows us to make improvements.

Chainsaw won't start

Purchased the 12" chainsaw to use in conjunction with my 20" gas powered saw. I have a plethora of other DeWALT cordless power tools so it made since to purchase. Not happy about how much oil leaks from the reservoir but can overlook this by emptying the reservoir before putting it up for storage. Pulled the saw out the other day for cutting branches that had fallen from trees. NO START!!! Battery was fully charged and chain break was off. No clue as to what the problem could be unless faulty switch.

Light work saw
il y a 2 ans
This saw is good for light duty small tasks. Got this to climb with while trimming trees. It's nice and light and easily manageable up in a tree. Don't need to pull start or worry about an engine running while climbing. Have had for over a year and requires little to no maintenance.
Do not get this saw if you intend to do much more than trimming. Can cut through larger stuff but low power and takes a long time and chews up batteries.
Nice saw for it purpose and well built like everything DeWalt makes

I LOVE my chainsaw! As a lady farmer it’s a joy!
il y a 4 ans
I love this little chainsaw. As a woman I can never get my gas powered chainsaw to start. I have to wait for my boyfriend or call a neighbor and that’s a real bummer. I saw this little saw in the local farm co-op ad and went for it. Boy am I glad I did! I use it to clear woody brush, keep my over giant oak tree trimmed and away from the main road in front of my farm, and trim up pines and firs. This saw has been an absolute blessing. My boyfriend is surprised at how much power it has. Thanks DeWalt!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as an alternative to my gas chain saw and it has not disappointed. It is a great saw around the house for cutting smaller trees and bushes. Quick and easier to use then getting out the gas saw all the time. I’ve even taken down to my hunting property and use it to clear branches up to 6-8 inches around. With a 5a battery it last for a while. I was skeptical at first that it would just be a glorified pruning saw but it has exceeded my expectations and I’m glad I bought it.
I opened new saw and was putting chain on when chain adjustment locked up. I needed this saw today. I called dewault and was on hold for a hour. During the hour I desided to risk warranty and repaired the adjustment, The adjusment bolt was lockeded took alot of pressure to release. after that it was fine and sees to be a good tool. My huge issue was the horrible hold time with support. Being the leader of these tools and premium prices I expect premium service!!!! I fixed it on hold?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this for nearly a year. I was hesitant at first to but a Battery powered Chain Saw.. I am So Glad I Bought It.. Light Weight, Clean, Quiet and Powerful.
I Manage a FIXED WIRELESS INTERNET COMPANY.. I also own 4 Cell Towers.. This SAW has more than 100 times allowed me to gain customers by trimming trees and branches that are in my LINE-OF-SITE. It also helps me quickly keep the brush away from my GUY Wires on my towers..
This should be in everyone's truck/van.
Excellent for small or touch up tree limb cutting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 20V MAX XR Compact 12in. Cordless Chainsaw Kit Is Great I Love It Perfect For Making Fast Smaller Cuts Branches In The Way. I Live On A Mountain And Need To Keep My Bluff View Open And because Of A Down Grade Of Land To Keep Small 4in.- 5in. Trees Cut Out Of My View, The 20V MAX XR Compact 12in. Cordless Chainsaw Is Great Because Of Being Light In Weight Verses A Gas Powered Chainsaw When Walking On Step Terrain. I Always Been Happy With All My DEWALT Tools.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got tired of fighting my Stihl chainsaw for 30 minutes every time I needed it to start, so I gave it to a relative and bought this saw. I am glad I did, this thing starts every time, just click in a battery. Use a little bar oil and it goes. I cut down and cut up a 20’ holly tree on one 6ah battery. I have also used it with a flex volt 20/60 and it worked perfectly. I can take this saw to a job site and use it in my backyard. Perfect little saw for most jobs.
I have been searching for a Battery operated chain saw for some time. I have been assisting my son in clearing fallan trees at his property with a bowsaw and his Dewalt battery sawsaw. Being 91 yeas of age, gas powered chain saws are for obvious reasons are beyond my abilities. I had a fear that I would need 2 batteries out in the woods but found that the 5V battery ran saw powerfully for an Hour and a half. I was spent cutting and picking up limbs at that time also. Happy to then go and recharge both of us. Great saw.would recommend it to anyone. My daughter, a gardener, saw me with it and said that Dad when you pass I want dibs on that saw. A suggestion, I wish the Kits, all had a extra chain included, Most stores dont carry this 12" chain
After previously owning a few gas chainsaws I was reluctant to purchase a battery unit due to many of my tasks requiring stop and go work. Thanks to current battery technology and DeWalt's brushless motor design, a chainsaw model exist for grab and go demands. Additionally, I wanted something better than maintaining gas powered chainsaws, the bother of mixing fuels and keep a carburetor in top notch ready condition. This unit was able to outwork a comparable gas unit as it is 100% ready to run as fast as the trigger could be pulled! It was able to cut through tree trunks, limbs, and 2x4s with the speed and reliability of gas powered models. With medium landscape jobs, ~2-3 hours, I have yet to run a battery dry. Looking forward to the many years of being able to grab this chainsaw without the concern for cold starts or the fuel prep!
I find this to be a great little saw. Starts every time without jerking on a cord,Stops after each cut, low noise, lithe weight . Some folks complain about it leaking oil....I have had literally dozens of saws over the past many years...Stihl, Poulan, McCulloch, Homelite, Husky, and everyone of them leave a little oil where you set them down....don't put any chainsaw on the seat of your truck and then express surprise that there is an oil stain! With respect to battery life, I have had no problem in using this for trimming and getting Christmas trees. I always take a back up battery, but it has been just fine for "home use". If you want to cut a lot of large wood, I suggest the 60 volt....which I also have...which I consider comparable to any of the same size gas burners in power, and again the battery lift has been just fine with me.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use a lot of Dewalt 20V tools in our shop and in my experience they've always been extremely reliable. When I saw that Dewalt came out with a 20V hedge-trimmer and chainsaw, I picked up one of each. Both tools do well, especially for light tasks and yard maintenance, but the chainsaw is my new favorite tool. I've used it for trimming trees, cutting railroad ties, cutting up scrap lumber for the fire pit, and we take it camping for firewood. It's quiet, convenient, and so far been extremely reliable. As soon as I wore out the 12" chain, I switched it over to a new 14" Oregon bar and chain and have had zero issues. I use the 60V Flex batteries with the chainsaw, and get several hours of fairly continuous use. Just remember what it was built to handle (8" to 10" diameter max) and let a good sharp chain do the work. Tough little saw!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the saw a few months ago for small tree/branch cuts and general trail clearing on a rural property. I was pleasantly surprised by the power and the runtime of the battery (4 ah). The saw is capable of one-handed use. The tool-free chain tightening system is great, although with the tough Oregon bar and chain I haven't had to do much tightening. So far it seems like a tough little saw.
I liked the idea of battery operated chainsaw vs. my finicky old gas-powered MAC 26. The only downside is that when it's below freezing (I live in the deep north) the battery has to be brought inside to warm up before it'll take a charge. I'm quite familiar with Lithium Ion batteries and this is a known shortfall of that style of battery in general.
Pro-tip: keep those lithium batteries topped up and stored inside if you live in a cold climate.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this chainsaw from my hubs for my birthday last year. It is the best chainsaw on the farm! It is light and easy to handle and gets the job done. I have used it for cleaning up fallen trees and it is truly impressive. It is user friendly and the batteries last for a surprising long time. I have caught the old ranch boys using it a few times as it is always ready to go. Truly handy and efficent piece of equipment. Highly recommend
It worked great a when I first used it about 10 months ago. Just tried to cut down some honeysuckle and it cannot even cut through a 1/2" branch...it just stops. This is despite having used 3 different fully charged 20v batteries that I have. I even replaced the chain. Very disappointed! I only ever get DeWalt products too. Also, the thing leaks the chain oil like mad. Had to place it in a container so it wouldn't just get everywhere.

Cool little chainsaw......but.....
il y a 2 ans
I wanted an easy to use and dependable chainsaw for clearing small trees around my property. I used it about 10 times the past two years and it worked really great. The last time I used it, I was cutting a dead pine tree about 12'' thick and it just stopped working. Changed the battery but still nothing. Took the chain off, had oil and clear of debris. No idea but I do know the warranty expired. Not as dependable as my other Dewalt tools.

Great for pruning
il y a 4 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this for pruning and felling fruit trees, and also cutting up firewood (~10" dia pine, fir and oak). When cutting firewood that size, you only get about 15 cuts per batter (5mAH), but when using for lighter pruning as it was designed, it works like a champ. It's very light weigh, and i like that it is serviceable without tools (i can tighten/replace chain and add bar oil without needing a wrench or screwdriver.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought this 3 wks ago charged the battery used for about 1 1/2hrs 2 different days.i do not know what the bad reviews are about 1)the saw is a 12" cordless it is not meant to fell 18-24" 60 ft trees 2) i have not had a problem with oil leaking anymore than i did on my gas saws and i have owned at least 4 and still have 3.use the saw for what it is designed for and you will be happy if you over work it than shame on you
I was looking for a light saw to trim branches and brush around my rural property. I have gas saws but they are overpowered, heavy, noisy and can kick back on small stuff. I bought the 12” 20 v dewalt to see if it would be easier and to date I am very satisfied with how it performs. It is strong, cutting limbs 5” plus easily and handles well. Battery life with 3 and 5 AH batteries go over 45 minutes and no tired arms.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this over a year ago , to prune the trees in my yard, and to take hunting /quad riding to cut blow down trees from roads and trails. I used it about 25 times this hunting season on 4"- 10" blow downs. Average about 7", all on a 4 amp battery, with a 1/4 charge still left on the battery . I think this is a good little saw for the money. Also no stinkey gas smell when I leave it in my locked up jeep.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this item to cut off posts for fence projects. I figured it would be quicker and easier than using circular saw. So far, it has performed above expectations and saves a ton of time.
On the side I have use it to cut small trees, branches, etc and it has never let me down.
For a battery powered saw, it has over delivered!! Dewalt knows what they are doing when they release items to public.
I bought this and the pole pruner to keep in my cargo trailer so I didn't have to keep fuel in my trailer and mess the inside up. This saw works well and I am satisfied with the battery life. The problem I have is it leaks oil everywhere. Even if you empty as much as you can it still leaks oil. Now I still have a mess and smell inside my trailer. I hope all the Dewalt saws don't have this problem.

Great concept; poor quality
il y a 2 ans
After buying this kit for the fall season, I found my new DeWalt chain saw to not work properly. I can hear the motor spinning but the chain only spins sporadically. It's like the drive motor isn't engaging. I also found the chain oil leaks all over my garage floor after sitting for a while. I own about a dozen DeWalt tools but this one fails the name horribly... I had better hope for this kit.
