Great Addition to the 20V XR Line!
il y a 5 ans
Was thrilled to see this being added to the XR line-up. This Sander is definitely well built and feels really solid. The battery does make it heavier than the corded, but this is unavoidable and is well worth the ability to move around unobstructed by a cord. The on/off and speed control are easily changed with one hand. The dust collector bag is now off to the side unlike the corded one, but this poses no issues. The dust collecting 8-hole system still works great as ever! There is really no downside to this Sander.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this sander yesterday, charged the battery fully before using it, and have found that the battery barely lasts 15 minutes. I have been rotating 3 batteries (I do like that they are interchangeable with my dewalt drills), but am not able to compete my sanding work before running through all three batteries, even rotating two on two chargers while I work. I like the convenience of a cordless sander, but 15 minute run time negates the convenience of a cordless tool.

Excellant sander
il y a 4 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ive used sanders both corded and cordless but the results were less than impressive. This random orbit sander was different. It gives an even finish to various materials both hard and soft but is able to quickly remove material whenever necessary. The sander has hook and loop attachment for sandpaper as well as a twist-off dust collector which traps dust surprisingly well. The variable speed control is easily accessed and gives distinct increments in speed that allows you to work more efficiently. Control and overall use of the sander was very easy and vibration was minimal to the hands except at the highest speeds and even then wasn't unpleasant. Weight and balance of the sander is very good even with one hand operation. If you choose good quality sandpaper, this sander will provide great service and you'll enjoy using it.
I bought this two months ago and love it. My crew loves it too. The product is durable and works almost all day off one battery. It packs a lot of power and the variable speeds is amazing! My crew and I are so happy that we know longer have to plug things in to get work done on our sites. The world of technology is helping business owners like me cut time down and my employees are happy! Dewalt is a great product and I would recommend it to everyone.
I love this little sander. The functionality of a random orbital with the size of a palm. There is some heft to it, so you’re not going to forget it’s there, but it feels sturdy. The variable speed is a nice feature and adds some flexibility. I’m not a fan of the dust collection bag (I’ve never seen one of those work as intended), but I added the DWV9000 and my old (small) shop-vac for an inexpensive and remarkably effective dust collection system.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a journeyman painter and recently received my license. If you know the painting world then you know it's all in the preparation. One thing that always gives us issues is corded tools especially when there isn't enough outlets or heavy duty boxes on jobsites. I've been switching to cordless for a while now and I've been dying to get a cordless sander from Dewalt since that is my system. It's a sander and I love it. Simply the best.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My company purchased this sander to keep in the building to use on various projects. I find that we're more likely to grab a sander to quickly touch something up with the cordless setup. This sander is way more balanced than I thought it would be with the battery being side-mounted, which is a pleasant surprise. Battery life is good. The orbital sander is one of the best tools to get the cordless treatment, in my opinion.
Impressive and perfect for large or small projects

There's not much more to say about this product other than it has a great battery run time, is heavy duty enough for larger jobs, and delicate enough for small weekend DIY family projects. It's come in handy during my latest furniture and cabinetry builds. This is among one of the easiest cordless sanders I've used when it comes to control and finesse, and the variable-speed aids in that heavily.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this sander for about a year now and it definitely has not disappointed, the ability to be able to work somewhere that's either powerless or lacking an outlet near by is a game changer and one of the biggest Pro of this tool. Only Con so far is the weight when using a larger AH batter in my case a 4AH which seems to put a bit more strain on your wrist than a corded sander would.
I run a small woodshop. We use orbital sanders a lot. This sander is very comfortable to operate for extended periods of time. Works much better than our previous sanders ever did. My only complaint is the batteries do not last as long as I would like. Not an issue as I have two batteries so one is charging while I am using the sander. We will be buying a couple more.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this sander on an impulse while I was shopping for sandpaper for my current project (floating entertainment center with cherry). I wish I had bought it so much sooner. The selling point for me was the 20V Max platform as I already have other tools and I was growing tired of using extension cords. The weight is very balanced and is extremely easy to operate.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a metal frame of a swing and had wood I wanted to repurpose. I wanted to sand the wood for us to sit on and thus this purchase. The sander did an outstanding job smoothing the wood and giving it a consistent finish. It is easy to use, great battery life and it looks good to boot. This is my second Dewalt power tool and my want/need list continues to grow.
I've been using this sander for a few days now. I was AMAZED that it seemed just as powerful as the corded version I bought years ago! Well built and very ergomical. I was worried that the battery would get in the way or just add too much weight. I was extremely satisfied with regard to both. I'd definitely buy it all over again, given the chance!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A cordless orbital sander....well it's probably the most used new tool I have in my growing Dewalt arsenal. As a remodeling contractor, I'm always sanding something and this tool packs a punch. Battery life is good and I have plenty of batteries so not a big deal for me. I wish I had this tool years ago, no more cords for me. Good job DeWalt!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Owned this for two months, and it’s its exactly what I need.
I often work away from AC power and don’t like dealing with generators if I can help it, so the obvious cordless convenience is key.
Being able to finish up small jobs with this sander is great.
I used it recently to clean up some Ipe that needed repair and it along with various paper got the job done.
It has more bulk than the corded versions so I probably wouldn’t use it for big jobs as my arms would probably get irritated, and the corded versions probably are more efficient time/cost wise.
I do have over a dozen batteries so I’m sure it could keep it up longer than my body.
I currently have 7 corded sanders, 2 different sized belt sanders, 2 finish sanders, 2-5” orbital and 1-6” orbital sanders.
I just picked up this 20V to add to my cordless collection.
I’m not throwing away the corded sanders anytime soon like I did with my drills, but it’s perfect for my needs.
I love this sander, I have a couple that I have used for many projects over the past 2 years. I put different grits on each so I can quickly sand a project from coarse to fine. I have found that using the 3ah and 4ah 21700cell batteries are terrific for weight and balance, as the older 18650 4ah and 5ah batteries are just a bit bulky.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed breaking out this new toy. The motion is great and it's not too bulky for my hand. I'm thrilled to have a variable. But, I wish the speed control was somehow built into the palm, like a trigger finger or something of the sort. It's slightly awkward to stop and move the dial. But, still works great!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When Black and Decker came out with 20v sander I bought a handful and used them mercilessly. I killed about a half dozen and I still have two or three. They were gutless and not up to any professional usage but they were cheap and warranted. I loved the ability to take a sander anywhere regardless of A/C availability and without cords.
I bought one of these DeWalts the week they came out (got the first in the county). I got the same freedom and ease of use but also power, durability, and long battery life.
I have two now, since I tend to door my time between jobsItes, and continue to be grateful for them. I've used them mostly on either but also on fiberglass, PVC, fresh concrete, and a lot of drywall mud and plaster. Pretty sure some of those are recommended against by DeWalt but my sanders have weathered it all without complaint.
If you find yourself without power or want to reduce the number of cords underfoot I highly recommend DeWalt's 20v sanders.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this sander about 6 months ago, and it has come through on all of my small projects! The 20v battery surprised me as far as how much sanding time I got with no decrease in power until the very end, and we sanded a door we built from scratch that took an afternoon and half an evening! Definitely worth it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I often need to sand multiple places during a remodel. This sander is strong enough to handle any job I’m doing and saves me so much time not having to worry about where an outlet is or trying to drag an extension cord around. It also does a great job pulling dust into its collection bag. Love this sander!!
I received a DeWalt Combo set that included the 20V Max XR Sander for Xmas from my wife. It works great for about 2-4 minutes then it abruptly shuts down. If I remove the battery (which is very difficult to do), and blow out the contacts, it works for a few more seconds. Love the rest of the set...
I bought this sander thinking that there was a 6 inch pad available. Found out apparently their isn’t . Im an auto body tec and the sandpaper is all sold in 6 inch. I guess I will return it. Dewalt is missing out on another hole trate to service since their not available with a 6 inch pad.. ??

About time DeWalt!
il y a 6 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for those odd ball quick sanding jobs. Thus far I haven't plugged in a corded since I bought this sander. This guy is a bit slower than my DeWalt corded unit. But the hassle free use of this guy is awesome. As far as run time goes with the 5 amp hour battery I haven't had any issues.
My son-in-law has one and we used his to do some remodel work. I liked it so well I bought one. Battery is only about 45mins run time, but two of the small batters works very well. The big battery is bulky. It wont let you get in small places to sand. But out in the open large areas works good.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this cordless sander a year ago, and it has been a blast to use on all kinds of projects, from birdhouse to a deck. It is great not having a cord to drag around and trip on!
Looking forward to expanding my DeWalt cordless collection in the future, as they are great quality tools.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this random rotary sander about two months ago to replace my black and decker battery sander and fell in love with it immediately! It’s light weight and has a nice grip to it for easy holding with a very accessible on off switch and speed controller. Comes at a good price too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been waiting a while to write this review, as to put this sander to good use. I absolutely love using this sander! I’ve used batteries ranging from 1.5Ah to 60V FlexVolt and it hasn’t disappointed at all. It stands up to the pressure that I’ve put it through. Well done DeWalt!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this sander 2 weeks ago and have used it on a bedframe project I was helping my friend with. A couple of things take away the 5 total stars I could give it.
For one, the battery packs would pop out randomly. I could go 5 min. of sanding and then it would pop out, or 10 seconds. I think they might need a little tighter fit, and maybe a rubber type material to grip the battery on the inside a little better.
The sander is heavy from the weight of the battery and it tires your hand out quicker than a corded sander. Not much they can do about that.
The price at this moment is high, it isn't even close to their corded version, though this one actually has less overall material in it meaning it should be cheaper to make (brushless motor aside).
My takeaway is that if you only need to sand every once in awhile, on a job site or in random places where you don't want to string out a cord, then this will fit the bill, but if you are in a shop stick with a corded sander because your hands will thank you.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to re-finish the stairs in my house. I ripped up all the carpet, and pulled all the staples, nails and furring strips out. This made sanding an enjoyable and fantastic project. With the variable speed, i can make sure i am being precise with my sanding.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few months ago knowing I am going through some major renovations in my house. It surprises me how much I have used it and how powerful it is. It makes finishing work a breeze, and is also tough enough to handle things like sanding down hardwood steps.
