Good tool for what it's made for
il y a 2 ans
This is a nice compact & portable heat gun for small jobs, especially where dragging a power cord would be inconvenient. I've used it to repair breaks in our underground dog fence, and my wife has used it for some vinyl stencil work in her crafting (I've also used it to release bubbles in epoxy resin pours).
Compared to my corded heat gun, it does not produce NEAR the volume of air, and I haven't compared max temps between the two. I'd say they're probably close enough it doesn't matter - but the air volume I did find a little disappointing. You're not going to work quick with this tool, but for some applications, that's okay.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little skeptical as I could not believe you can pull so much energy from the battery and have a good runtime (the laws of physics). I feel like this small tool is defying the laws of physics! I'm using for all projects that need heat - electrical jobs (shrink insulation), bending plastics, pre-heating for painting and drying paint jobs, pre-heating surfaces to promote flashing tape adhesion and much more! I really like that it heats up very quickly and the set-up is much faster than my corded heat gun.
How does it compare to corded heat gun? If you need high temperatures, use the heat gun for long time without interruption, this tool may not be the right tool.
This heat gun is perfect for delicate work. Example being decal removal from vehicles. It puts out just enough heat but not too much that you need to worry about damaging the factory paint near or under said decal.
The trigger system works great and comes with attachments.
If you've a rapid charger it will recharge a 4 or 5 ah battery by the time you you run out. In other words if you've a lot of heat gun work to do make sure you've got two batteries.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality feel and build, small, compatible with my existing 20V Dewalt batteries. Works well for heat shrink tubing, low-temp solder connectors, softening wire insulation and irrigation tubing.
I use this mostly for exterior lighting and audio wiring. Buried cables are using hard when dug up, this works well for softening the insulation, applying heat shrink tubing, and the low-temp solder connectors.
If you are wanting to strip paint or similar application, it isn't going to create enough air flow or heat a large area -better to stick with an A/C powered heat gun for that work.
Trigger switch has a secondary trigger to keep it from accidentally running in the bag.
An improvement Dewalt could add would be a switch to blow plain air - speed up the cool-down time (the tip is HOT). You can't just finish a job and toss in the bag.
Good tool I glad I bought
I am a chainsaw sculptor and I finish my carvings with paint and stain. When painting eagle heads and concentrating on the eyes, I used to have to wait to be able to paint a different color. I figured I would try the heat gun. A Flexvolt on there and I cut the finish time down by hours. I have it as my 'go to' for finishing now. You can literally watch paint dry.
This is a great heat gun for small and quick projects. I purchased it to dry small areas of paint, wet drywall, shrink wrap, as well as for other miscellaneous projects around my home. It doesn't disappoint. It heats up fast, gets as hot as advertised and the safety and continuous trigger lock make it comfortable to use and prevent accidental triggering. The build is what I expect from DeWalt. The grip is comfortable, the gun itself doesn't get hot, it feels solid and isn't too heavy(though 4+ Ah batteries make it significantly heavier).
My only complaint is that it drains batteries fast (less than 15 mins continuous use on a 4 Ah fully charged battery), the heater parts stay hot well after use and the gun can't stand up without the battery. However, I do think DeWalt compensated for the hot issue by including lots of rubber parts including side bumpers that keep the hot parts off of surfaces. The gun would just need to cool before storing away.
It did the job I was wanting to get done. It took a bit longer than I expected do to the fact The fan could’ve been a bit stronger. The compact design was nice. The led light was nice but wasn’t necessary, to have an option to turn it off would be a plus. Other than that, a Great product.
Without making this sound strange it just doesn’t blow enough hot air and absolutely eats battery life. I use a heat gun applying self adhesive membranes just on the edges and it takes forever with this tool. For the conscience of being cordless it slows me down than running a cord.
Hello, Bingo I appreciate your feedback on the 20V MAX* Cordless Heat Gun DCE530B and I'm sorry to hear that It doesn’t blow enough hot air and eats battery life.
This is not the kind of performance we expect from our products. We will be reaching out to you via email at the address you have provided to assist you further.
