Great for DIYers and Contractors alike

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was amazed at how handy this was around the shop this weekend. I had a Christmas crafts that were the perfect use for the pin nailer. Crown to put on my kitchen cabinets, then glue ups in some walnut tables I was working on. My favorite feature was the red light that comes on when you are low on pins. The 1 inch pins were great for assembly work until the glue dried.
I bought this for detail work on cabinetry installs and trim work in new residential construction. The nailer jambs frequently or will randomly start leaving nails proud. Ive tried different brands of nails and never found one that worked consistently well. My nailer recently quit working altogether after only using it sparingly since I bought it in April 2023.

Must have!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] FINALLY! I have been waiting for this battery powered pin nailer! This thing is amazing. I unboxed it and put it to work immediately. I used it to pin miters for picture frames, and a face frame for a cabinet. Its small and lightweight and extremely easy to use. I especially like the safety trigger having kids around this feature is definitely a plus!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE THIs TOOL! I redid all the baseboard trim in my house and this tool made the process a breeze. I liked that it had little to no recoil, shot nails fast, and was easy to reload. It also comes with some nails which was great because I forgot to grab some from the home store. I highly recommend this tool for your home projects.
As a side-gig I use a Shaper Origin to cut logos for businesses and mount them on walls. This nailer is perfect for that (in conjunction with adhesive, of course). The extra cost is worth it so as to not have to lug around a compressor! But what I did not expect is how incredibly useful this thing is for day-to-day stuff. ANYTHING you want to glue can be set with this pin nailer, and the "lesion" it leaves is so tiny you do not have to deal with any patching! My garage door had a lot of trim that was flaking and warping. With some waterproof glue and this pin nailer, I had the whole thing fixed in half an hour! I do own a 18 gauge DeWalt nailer, but anticipate it will be used much less now that I have this pin nailer. In fact, if you are a home based DIY person, and thinking of 18 gauge or 23 gauge, seriously consider this pin nailer (and using adhesives). After all, you are not framing houses, are you? This product is def worth the extra $$$!
I love the new line of 60 volt tools I purchased a 60 volt dewalt 7 1/4 circular saw and a 15 ah battery and use it daily at work it has unbelievable power as much or more then a corded saw. The battery last all day long nonestop cutting and ripping wood all day these new 60 volt tools from dewalt are absolutely amazing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked this gun up to install a new kitchen crown molding. I typically used the dewalt 23ga air pin nailer. I figured I would give this a try. Used it for about 6 hrs with no jams, and one battery. Would recommend. No longer having to setup a compressor and deal with hose rubbing on the new cabinets is worth it alone.
The mailer is great. It is quiet and powerful. It has a small footprint compared to the other cordless nailers like the 18, 16, 15 gauge ones. Plus, no wind up time. Has worked through everything that I have tested it with with no hiccups. Definitely recommend to those who are thinking about pulling the trigger.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the battery powered 23 gauge pin nailer for a repair on a accent wall. It was nice not to have to get the compressor and hose out. It has a nice shape for access to tight areas and easy to use. I really hope that Dewalt makes more nailers like this one.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great addition to my other Dewalt Cordless nailers. I am constantly routing out different jigs and this is perfect for holding them in place on my work piece. It’s a little bulky but I don’t mind that because I’m not using it in tight spaces.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice little nailer! Been using a ton on projects here and there and I can see all of the uses for years to come. Haven’t used more than one type of nail, but I’m sure I have plenty of uses in this gauge. So quick and easy to use!
Glad Dewalt finally came out with a 23 guage cordless pin nailer.Makes life so much easier, I use it when gluing up poly board that sets real quick. Helps keep everything n place. Light weight easy to use, finally……
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ive used it around the house for nailing molding up. Works great light weight very impressed. Definitely would recommend to others. The adjusting depth for nails is a great feature.easy to load and user friendly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worked flawlessly. No jams, easy to setup and maintain. I use it primarily for fine woodworking, and even nailing into hardwoods, it had no trouble and was consistent in pressure when dialing in the depth.
The DEWALT - ATOMIC COMPACT SERIES™ 20V MAX* Brushless Cordless 23 Ga. Pin Nailer is Great. This product was so simple to use, and I love how nicely it is made! I definitely recommend it is greatly made.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dewalt pin nailer is perfect for building small projects. I used it to build a small storage box out of plywood. The nails shoot in perfectly and at the right depth without marring the material I'm nailing. My close buddy got the Metabo Cordless Pin nailer and we compared the two tools. The Dewalt was much better across the board, we specifically liked the Dewalt more because it uses a trigger safety versus on the Metabo, it uses a tip depression safety. The Tip Depression safety on the Metabo would marr up the wood we were woorking on.
The Dewalt pin nailer is quite light for a cordless nailer, it did not put much strain on my wrist while using it to nail precise wood projects together. This is a super convenient tool to have for any carpenter/wood worker since there's no air hoses and you can control the tool quite precisely without damaging the project.
I hope Dewalt will continue with this type of Cordless nailer across all their different nail guns. This is the first Dewalt tool I've used that does not have the wind up noise of the brad or framing nailer guns I've used in the past. Hopefully Dewalt implements this technology into their framing and brad nailers.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dewalt DCN623 pin nailer is a great addition to my tool bag. I install a decent amount of trim ranging from baseboard, crown, shoe, etc. and this tool definitely helps cut the need for a compressor and air hose on site. I am amazed at the ZERO wait time for the nailer to shoot the pin. It fires at the same rate as my AIR Dewalt pin nailer. Unlike all of the other Dewalt nailers that have the ramp up, this one fires instantly.
So, the pros that I believe are most important when using for trim or small moldings and work that I perform. One, portability, I paired the nailer with a 2 amp battery, it stays light weight, and balances the nailer perfectly. Two, shoots exactly as I am used to with my previous dewalt air nailer, so really no change with how I am accustomed to using. Three, fine tuning depth adjustment, I can really dial in the depth the pin goes into woods ranging from pine to red oak. Last major point, size. Although it is overall bigger than an air pin nailer, using this tool to pin/glue trim returns or for fastening and gluing detailed moldings, this slightly larger size is irrelevant to ‘getting into those places’.
The only flaw, and this is a personal preference, is the safety trigger size. I have a wide hand, and with the ‘safety trigger’ being about the same size as the main trigger, due to the compact size, my safety finger almost always rests on it, thus eliminating the ‘definite’ lockout to prevent accidental firing. If the safety trigger was smaller in size I feel like my finger would depress it less, on accident.
Overall, this is definitely a winner!! Thank you Dewalt!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have put over 3000 nails through this baby, and it is awesome! It is great for installing small pieces of moulding, with no nail holes to fill. It had plenty of power to bury the nails in many types of wood I used, but gentle enough that it didn't crack when installing delicate trim pieces. I didn't experience any surface damage around the nail head as I have seen with others. There is no “ramp up” like with some nailers, it fires immediately when the trigger is pulled, and will fire nails in quick succession without issue. It feels great in the hand, and has great balance with a battery. I ran it with my 1.7 aH Powerstack, and the clip held it on my pouch without issue. I have included a photo next to my angled finish nailer for size comparison. Before I got this, I used the Dewalt pneumatic pin nailer, and it is really nice to have the same performance without the air hose and compressor. There is a depth adjustment, which I highly recommend using. I like to fire a few nails into a test piece first, to dial it in and make sure they are sitting flush. Loading the nailer is easy, and the magazine mechanism seems to be improved versus the pneumatic pin nailer. I had no issues with misfiring or jams, which is a common problem with pin nailers. However, if you do have a jam it's very easy to pop open and clear it. The only improvement they could make would be capacity to fire 2” pin nails, this seems to be the biggest difference between the cordless and pneumatic versions. However, pins that long are not common, and 1-1/2” nails are more than enough for most of the delicate applications where you would use a pin nailer. If you do finish work, this tool will easily pay for itself in labor savings from not having to fill nail holes. Not to mention you won't be dragging around the air hose and compressor!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Atomic 23 ga pin nailer arrived last week!
First impressions were it's small, sleek and sharp looking. It has some nice features including a built in light, a belt hook that can be placed on either side of the tool, easy toolless jamb accessibility with the depth control inside of the easy to open lid.
I decided to first try it out on some softwood scraps of different sizes. It easily penetrated all thicknesses and left no sign of damage except the tiny nail hole.
Next I tried it on some cherry, oak and walnut scraps, with a slight adjustment I was able to get the nails flush and with a bit more adjustment it penetrated even the hard walnut, again with no damage from the plunger and just a tiny nail hole.
It easily fired nail after nail and the depth stayed consistent.
It has a two finger trigger fire, the lower trigger is the safety and activates the light, which is nice for seeing what you're aiming at, and the upper trigger shoots the pin nail. The tip does not need to be depressed to fire the nail like bigger nailers require, this is nice for getting into tight spots.
The size of the tool is nice and compact for a battery operated nailer. It is naturally bigger than my pneumatic pin nailer but I also am not tethered to a hose and noisy compressor! It feels comfortable in my hand and not to heavy. It also has the belt hook which is so nice for leaving hanging from my pocket while grabbing the next piece of material.
I have a hard time finding any negatives with this pin nailer. The only thing that I can come up with is the light could be slightly better as it is somewhat blocked by the tip, but still better than any other nailer that I've owned because none of them even have a light!
Overall, the Dewalt 20v 23 guage pin nailer is a great little tool that gets the job done, both comfortably and quietly. It should be a nice addition to your set if you're in the market for a small nailer.
