Solution for those with trouble charging
il y a un an
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the DeWalt 9AH Flex-Volt battery (60Volt DCB609) to help me in my work as a contractor. It's been an essential addition, and I'm eager to share my experience with it! Some users have reported issues with the battery not charging correctly. Upon investigation, it appears that this issue often stems from user error rather than inherent faults with the battery. When charging the battery, it is crucial to ensure that it clicks firmly into the charger with an audible click, NOT just until the light and even fan (if your charger has one) comes on. The form factor and weight of the battery can cause it to slightly engage with the charger and then push the charger away if it is not held firmly. This can result in the battery having just enough electrical connection to exchange information but not enough to actually charge. To avoid this frustration of batteries not charging, it is important to fully seat the battery into the charger. I wall-mounted my charger making it very easy to fully snap a battery in without the charger moving around.
That issue aside, the battery has been very impressive in runtime and power. I have never had it die on me even though I have intentionally not charged between jobs in an attempt to drain it and see how long it takes to charge. Even with this I was only able to use up 1 bar of the battery! The long standing problem of the fuel gauge only staying on as long as you are holding the button is fixed as well. All its claims of increased power and performance are very true. I tested it (the 60v 9AH) against a 4AH XR battery. The test was drilling 5 inches into wood with a 1in spade bit using a DCD999 hammer drill. The 9AH battery averaged only 3 seconds to complete the hole while the 4AH averaged 7 seconds to complete the job. The drill also had a slight stall with the 4AH. I could not get it to stall with the 9AH even though I tried. The additional weight of the 9AH battery also really helps balance my cordless roofing nailer (DCN45RND1), making it much easier to handle especially when doing a dangerous roofing job! It may not be ideal for some small tools (like the DCF850 impact driver or DCD805 drill) as it is a bit heavy
I must say that the performance of the DCB609 battery has exceeded my expectations. It has consistently delivered outstanding runtime and power, making it a valuable asset for me as a contractor. I would highly recommend this battery to fellow professionals and even DIY enthusiasts.
Pros:
- Impressive runtime and power.
- Highly enhances tool performance.
- Versatile and compatible with ALL 20V and 60V DeWalt tools.
- Durable construction.
- Fuel indicator is fixed!
Cons:
- Heavy, especially for small tools
- Premium price compared to lower-capacity batteries (but you are getting what you are paying for)
