YOU CANT ADD TO APPLE MYHOME APP OR ALEXA

I really dislike purchasing an item that then requires a ridiculous extra purchase or set up do what it should have been able to do in the first place. The Item works fine, but you always have to use their app-which freezes all the time and lags for ever. I was trying to connect it to my Alexa and MyHome app on my apple, only to realize that you cant do that. You have to purchase a seperate item to connect it or use a specific app to my that connection which is a membership based app (IFTTT). So annoying and frustrating when this should have been a feature added to the product. Even light bulbs come with this feature. COME ON!

Great when it works/could be so much better

I purchased the MyQ garage door opener on March 19, 2020.
When it works it's great with three major exceptions:
1. The strobe light is obnoxious
2. The closing alarm sound is also obnoxious
3. It shows as offline multiple times per day (so you can't use it)
Let's talk about #3 above. I have tried putting one of my mesh router satellites in the garage thinking maybe it was a WiFi strength problem - no change. It's really awful that I have to get out of my car to either open or close the garage door because the MyQ system is offline (see screenshot photo)
Also the process of setting this up is ridiculously difficult and should be a much easier process.

We do not recommend to use Mesh routers for myQ devices as they constantly lose connection when it disconnects to assist another device using more internet connection than a myQ device. Please make sure you check your internet connection and that you have a constant 2.4Ghz connection with your myQ device. Any disconnection issues, we would recommend to contact your ISP, if any other issues, you can contact us at technical.support@chamberlain.com. We appreciate all the time that you put into getting your device to work and we will be sure to pass your input along to our myQ team. As far as the flashing light and alarm from the Smart Garage Control Hub, this is a safety feature we have integrated and can not be disabled.

Installation app needs improvement

At a certain point in the MyQ installation app, I was asked if my garage door opener looks like the image shown, and the only responses are YES and NO. I chose NO, and the unit wouldn't pair. After an hour on the phone with a tech, she recommended that I exchange the unit for a new unit at my local big box store. Same problem. After three more attempts, I pressed YES when I reached that point in the app just to see what would happen, and I was able to continue the installation A short note on that page in the app would have saved a lot of time and frustration: "Your unit might have lights on both sides."

Good hardware, awful software and functiinality

This doesn’t replace my clunky old door switch…why? Software is constantly losing communication with our (very strong) Wifi signal meaning we have to get out of our car to close the door, about 60% of the time. Also, why not make the strobe also function as a light? I have the remote camera/door opener for a separate detached garage as well, which includes a light…although I have similar software issues with that device too.
Wish I’d gone a different direction altogether, with a different brand, but this is what my door installer uses. I have shared my experience with the owners as well.

Finding compatibility nearly impossible

One of the most difficult things Iʻve ever setup and I do IT work for a living (the other is the MyQ camera). Plus you shipped me two of them. Iʻm trying to make sure you didnʻt charge my account twice. Why write on the box "Donʻt buy unless you know itʻs compatible" when your website or that phone app doesnʻt say that or give you an easy way to find out if your opener is compatible. The chat support people barely understood what I was asking. The thing works now but it shouldnʻt be so frustrating. I would return the other one but your website lacks any support for getting that done.

Fantastic and Fun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This garage door opener is incredible. A few blocks away you can have your garage door open and ready for you to come in in your car with kids and groceries. There's no more getting wet in the rain and or snow plus dealing with all those nasty, messy boots from the kids. You, your children and the car stay nice and dry as you enter your garden which is waiting for you blocks away.
Another bonus is your wife or husband now can hear when your almost home so there's no sneaking up on each other anymore.. hahahahaha
Love love this garage door opener and if we ever move we definitely will bring it with us or buy one to have it waiting for us at our new home.
Highly recommended to anyone with a home you get a MyQ garage door opener.
Constantly say it's offline. Tried a wifi reset. Found my wifi although it shows very weak signal but that doesn't agree with my analyzer. Enter password and it keeps insisting its the wrong password.
Hold the gear button to try again to get the flashing blue light - I hear a click oh oh, it's done a factory reset so now it's not connected with my opener any more.
Try to discover my Sears opener but that's not an option in the new app. Only their wifi enabled openers.
What a big pain.
This is the second MyQ I've had to fix this week.

This only works with wifi capable openers

1) no place to sign up. Only register product or log in.
2) figured out register means sign up.
3) asked if opener says "wifi" or "Powered by MyQ". Mine says neither. It just says MyQ. Can't click neither. Just "yes" or continue without varify.
4) asked to click the 6 or 7 items such as strong signal, Bluetooth, etc... I don't have a wifi opener so I can't click that. And that's as far as you can get in the process. Can't go further. So, I'll just return it.
Summery... THIS ONLY WORKS IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A WIFI COMPATIBLE OPENER
