Fail over time
il y a 13 ans
I used these to hang a group of pictures in my new home. They are basically just a 5x7 picture and glass with colored tape on the sides so the weight is 1 lb. or less. I very much liked using the Command strips, it made hanging very easy. After approx. 4 months one of the pictures fell and the glass broke. I repaired that one. Then today I found another had fallen and broken the glass. I took all the photos down (7 total) and placed a nail back-up to save any more broken glass. They're fine for keeping a photo straight on the wall but I won't be using them as a stand alone mounting again. FYI It was the adhesive that let go, not the Velcro. This is in a new home with freshly painted new dry wall.
Thank you for sharing your review on our Command(TM) Picture Hanging Strips. The large strips you used should hold hold 4 lbs per set (which should be fine for your 1lb pictures). The adhesive is designed to be permanent until removed as long as weight limits and directions are followed. If ever a Command™ Strip failed we want to hear from you so we can ensure our products are working well for our customers. Please keep an eye out for a direct e-mail from us shortly. Thanks!

Great product
il y a 5 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These picture hanging strips are awesome. We just repaired and painted our living room and dining room and did not want holes in the walls to hang things. We bought the picture hanging strips to try out and we're glad we did. They really hold the pictures on the wall with great stick. Only issue is after putting the wall side on and removing the picture you have to wait 1 hour to rehang the picture. Has to do with the adhesive. Lining the strips up again is a bit of a challenge but its worth the time.I highly recommend these for hanging stuff without putting tons of holes in your walls.
Dont waste your time with this product. Adhesive failed on back of a wood frame, and in some cases the painted wall. Rubbing alcohol will leave streaks in your painted wall. Leveling the painting can be difficult unless you have some help. I dont think that these would be along term solution, and the time to hang one picture could be long. Does this product have a shelf life? The backing was difficult to remove. So, unless your hanging something on a cinder block/concrete wall, or if your hanging something in a rented space where the owners say no holes in the wall, avoid this product.

No holes in plaster walls
il y a 13 ans
My nickname is hanging nut, but my husband's nickname is no more holes in our plaster walls. Our house is 84 years old with 13 inch plaster walls. So after repainting, I decided to buy Command picture hanging strips. We also have 20 grandchildren and each of their picture is hung separately. Then there is a grouping of 6 wedding pictures (our childrens) and a grouping of our children as babies, our wedg.picture and the wedding pctrs of grandparents & great grndprnts. That is just in the family room. The bedroom has even more. They have all been hanging for over 2 years now and I have only had one fall down, and that was because the paper backing on the picture ripped. So easy to do!
And my husband is happy.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I bought the picture hanging strips to hang a bunch of pictures in our camper. Because as you know the walls are not that thick in a camper. Well they worked great. You have to make sure you clean every side good it tells you that on the package. But let me tell you it is simple and they hold fantastic. What is really nice is you can adjust the picture if your wife puts it up crooked "hehe" or maybe the husband. That in itself is a great reason to buy them not a one time shot you can remove and straighten them. If you move the pictures or take them down "NO HOLE".
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. I have bought dozens for different things.
I hang my kids canvas pictures on the wall, of course they work perfect.
I hung 3 motion sensor night lights on my wood railing (battery operated and needs to be removed when replacing) so I don’t ruin my railing.
The best is a under counter CD radio, I used several to mount, it’s been up and holding for 3yrs now, plus has taken abuse. We are not easy when messing with the radio but no issues at all!!!
This product is awesome, I like change, this product allows that without holes in my walls...LOVE IT!!!
I bought the Large command strips to hold a 6lb picture frame, and put 2 sets of strips on the frame after cleaning the wall and frame of dust etc. The strips held for a few months and then failed, breaking the relatively expensive frame ($80) and damaging the baseboard in my new home as it fell. I am very disappointed and this is the second time this has happened. The first picture I had fail, happened after a few weeks on the wall. I am staying well below the weight limit and securing them correctly, and feel something needs to be done. At least replace the damaged items.

More than a picture!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband came home with his new license plate for his dirt bike today and immediately went to work looking for something to hold the license plate onto his bike with. He explained to me the holes on the small license plate don't fit to his bike and in order to screw the plate in place he would have to drill new holes in the plate. His solution? Command picture hangers! He stuck them on the license plate and his bike and is currently riding his bike around! We'll see how well they hold up but sure made me laugh at the many uses of the Command products we have around here!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My home has old horse hair plaster walls and it is not easy to hang pictures as I can't always easily get the nail or hook where I want it. But now I can decorate my walls without worry now that I have found Commands variety of picture hanging strips. It was great to be able to mark the wall exactly where I wanted to put the strips and know that they were level and then attach the other strip to the picture, put into place with no mess. And if I decide to redecorate (which I do a lot) I am not stuck with extra holes that need to be filled and repainted. Thanks Command!
I have tried multiple times to use these to avoid holes in walls since I have been instructed not to put holes in them. Each time I am disappointed, I have spent so much money and now my stuff is breaking. I have weighed my things to make sure they are not too heavy, it doesn't matter, they don't even last a few hours. I have had pictures fall and a small metal rack fall twice now and the last time it broke, I can't even get to my picture because it is behind the tv. Empty walls it is. Be aware this stuff is a rip off, not worth the paper and packaging it is in.
We're unsure why you have run into trouble when weight limits and instructions are followed and we'd ask you please connect with our team at 1.800.934.7355 M-F 8am-5pm CT. We can gather some additional information and try to understand why this is happening. Thank you for leaving your review and we look forward to your call.

More than for pictures
il y a 12 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I teach Kindergarten and use Command products everywhere in my classroom. I have all kinds of hooks to hang everything from Birthday crowns to wisk brooms and dust pans to clean up snack messes. I use the double side poster tape and clear tabs to hang posters. So when I was going to hang a 18 pocket clear vinyl shoe holder on a brick wall, I went to the Command aisle to see what I could use. I put it up 2 days ago and filled it with emergent reader books. It's still holding strong! Now I can find my books quickly in a glance. Thank you, Command! You are a life saver!
i bought the large hanging strips to hang a picture. The instructions say to use 4 strips for up to 16lbs. My picture is about 10lbs but i figured better to be safe than sorry. I placed the strips as directed and everything seemed fine.
About a half hour later the picture came crashing down. Not only did it rip off some paint from where the strips were, but when the picture feel it chipped the wall molding as well as broke the picture. I am so upset because this picture frame is an antique family heirloom that my grandfather passed down to me.
Very dissapointed!
That is disappointing and we'd like to understand why this may have happened. Please hold onto the product and call our team at 1.800.934.7355 M-F 8am-5pm CT. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

Great for my office
il y a 8 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just started at a new job, and my work area did not have any place to put the picture of my kids that I keep on my desk. My main office wall is a plaster partition; I didn't know if the structure would even support something hung from a nail. Also, the owner of the firm is planning on moving our office within the next year, so I want to limit the repair work that might be required. I used these hangers for the photo of my kids and a few hanging file pockets. About two weeks after I arrived, I got some additional storage space for my files. I removed the file pockets and the hangers and there is absolutely no sign that anything had ever been attached to the wall. Great product that works exactly as it says it will.
Just bought three packs of these to hang some picture frames we've been meaning to hang. We didn't want to damage our walls, so we thought we'd try command strips. Big mistake.
We followed all the instructions to the letter, cleaned the wall with rubbing alcohol, pressed strips the the back of the frame for 30+ seconds, position the frame and press to the wall for 30+ seconds to secure, but when we reached the step where you gently peel the frame from the Velcro to let the pieces on the wall set it didn't separate and ruined two spots on my wall.
Never again.

Don't waste your money
il y a 3 ans
I hung up 3 pictures a few nights ago using twice the recommended strips. All 3 pictures stayed on the wall for less than 12 hours. I bought more strips and attempted again this time with 3 times the recommended amount of strips. (Each picture weights less than 2lbs.) This time all 3 pictures did not last even an hour. I have used the exact same product in the past and all those items are still hanging up, most a few years later. Whatever 3M changed was not for the better. This product went from a great one to a horrible one. Done wasting my money on these!!

When it’s worked I’ve like these options
il y a 4 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We move every couple of years due to our field of work and rehang our artwork everytime with these products. Unfortunately, we have about a 15% rate where prepping the walls then using these, even taking account the weight limitations, that something falls off the wall from the wall side sticky. We have lost one artwork due to this, luckily no more yet. Because of this, we do not use this for our most precious professionally framed items.
When the above doesn’t happen, its great to leave our rentals with clean non-holed walls.
It does however make me nervous every time to see what drops.
So all in all we are happy, with a little reservation. We are about to put up all our artwork in the new place, so here goes another round!
I started to apply the adhesive strips to the wall and the frame before I realized that I had to reposition two of the strips. I "pulled to remove" and it took quite some effort but they came off eventually. What I'm disappointed about is, once you pull them off, you can't reapply them again. The now stretched strips won't rebound to the original shape. So make absolutely sure of where you want the strips to go (on wall or object to be hanged, because once you pull them off you can't reapply them.
Otherwise, pretty good idea and pretty good product. The one other time I used this was for my corkboard and it's been holding up for nearly a year now. I still have a few other command hooks I bought that I've been meaning to put up.
This is the best product I have found in a long time. We remodeled a bedroom, turning it in to my new sewing shop and I hate putting holes in the wall. My daughter suggested using the command strips and they are fabulous. We used them on pictures, mirrors, shelves, anything that had to be mounted on the walls. When up easy, no problem to reposition an item, no problem removing the strip and no damage to the wall. This is all I will use from now on. Wish you had one strong enough to put up my granddaughter when I vacuum. Now that would really be something!
I have used this product (standard adhesive strips) for years and haven't normally had a problem, however i have just moved in to a new rental property and several pictures have fallen off the wall. Ive bought all sorts of different shapes and sizes and read carefully what is suitable for size and weight. I always make sure the wall is clean and have used several strips to redo it but it keeps happening. If it was my own house I'd just use normal hooks but i don't have that option as i am renting. Frustrated that nothing stays put. Any other suggestions?
Hi Folks,
Last year was the 30th anniversary of Disco Demolition at Comiskey Park in Chicago. I had an exhibit of my photos taken on July 12, 1979 at The Music Garage in Chicago. This event was documented by television and the internet. The photos were hung with the 3M Command Strips because the gallery did not want holes in their walls. The Command Strips stayed up for 3 months without losing their grip of the 10-30x40 boards. The show was a huge hit and see by many Chicagoans. Thank you for making the exhibit possible and making me look like a champ.
I used to be a walking advertisement for this product. I swore by them to everyone I knew. I would spend the money on them in bulk even though they are expensive. Something has changed in the way they make them, and they no longer work. Just rehung a picture that fell after a year of holding, and this one just fell and hour after hanging it and broke the frame I just replaced. So so frustrated with this product. It is now worthless. This has happened all over the house in the last six months and has cost me so much! And it used to be so good.

The glass in my frame broke to a million pieces.
il y a 12 ans
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought these hooks when we purchased our new home. We did not want to put holes all in our walls. It seemed to work great for about a year. I came home to find my picture laying in the floor with glass scattered everywhere. My candle sticks were broken candles all over the floor. I certainly would not reccommend these to hang large pictures. We even used 2 hangers to secure it better. I am very upset not only did it break the glass, this was very special picture that a friend painted for us. I would not reccommed these for large pictures.
Thank you for taking the time to write a Rating & Review on our Command(TM) Large Picture Hanging Strips, using up to 4 sets of strips on your picture would allow you to hang up something weighing up to 16 lbs. If you were using our Command(TM) Picture Hanging Hooks (5lb or 8lb) we only recommend using 1 hook per item hung. All Command(TM) Brand Products are intended to be permanent until you decide you want to remove them. If you feel you used the product according to instruction and weight limits and had a failure we would ask you contact us directly be e-mail at www.command.com or by calling us using the phone number on the back of each package 800-934-7355 M-F 7:00 am to 6:00 pm CST for further assistance. Avoid at all cost
il y a 5 ans
This does not do what Command promises and it will end up costing you more in the long run. I placed these birds on my wall on 5/16/19 and on 5/23/19 the 1st 1 fell and shattered. No serious damage to the wall at that point and only a small ding to my floor where it fell and broke. On 7/20/19 another 1 fell, this time it damaged the wall and it will cost me more to repair the damage wall. I followed the instruction on the package exactly before attaching. Just save yourself the time, energy, and money this will cost you in the long run.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Could the installation instructions be any smaller? I had to gone online looking for instructions that I could actually read but then couldn't find the product number on the package which I think is 17206-C. I foolowed the ones for a different product that looked similar.
This is for a treasured print of me dirt-biking with my father, son and brother-in-law many years ago in Revelstoke, BC. It's in a plastic frame with a glass pane so I sure hope it doesn't drop and smash. It had a very tough to remove wire with clips into the frame that I had to remove first.
Highly recommend you use a level to place it on the wall because you can't move it after it sticks. I was looking for the Command product that has a hook instead but couldn't find it.
Just moved into a new apartment and we didn't want to put holes into the walls. So we decided to use the Command Damage Free Hanging product (2 different sizes for multiple items) to help make our place feel like home. Needless to say we will NEVER buy Command products again. We used the correct sizes for our pictures, followed the instructions and what do we have for it? Scratches on the walls and completely busted up picture frames. It's not easy being able to afford certain things when you move to a new state and city, so when something of yours breaks due to a company making such a bad product, you take it a little personal and become upset. So thanks Command for ruining our beautiful frames. Don't waste your time or your money on these things.
Thank you for creating your Rating and Review of the Command™ Large Picture Hanging Strips. We are sorry to hear about the difficulty that you had when using our product. If you followed all of our mounting instructions, used the correct amount of sets of strips for the size and weight of your pictures, we would ask that you contact us directly at 1-800-934-7355 so that we could speak to you further about this application and offer a possible resolution. Caused An Injury

I used to swear by these Command Strips, but now I will never use them for decorating again. Seconds after I sat down on the couch with my one year old, an 8x10 picture frame that had been up on the wall for 3 years suddenly came crashing down. The corner of the frame split my eyebrow, hit my eye, and scraped the skin underneath. I’m just thankful my son wanted to sit in my lap instead of next to me or else it would have hit him directly on the top of his little head. As a result I have taken down every frame I used Command Strips on.
Damaged the wall--not even close to a clean remova
il y a 8 ans
I mounted a simple 8 X 10 framed certificate on my office wall a year ago with these strips, thinking I'd be able to take it down and move it later when I received more plaques to hang. I was shocked whe, despite my efforts to slowly pull the frame off the wall, it took a huge piece of drywall with it. I was able to cover it with another photo, but I can kiss my security deposit goodbye as it will take a lot of work to repair and paint the damage. This is exactly what I'd hoped this product wouldn't do. I should have gone with nails.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I jsut moved into a new apartment. And i did not want to mess it up with holes in the walls. I used the picture strips. I have a very large photo frame with a nice print and those strips hold it and hold it. Better than a nail. I have since purchased several other products for hanging things and i am very impressed. I dont think i will ever go back to nails. To be honest, i did not think at first that they would really hold up the photos and frames etc. But they work, they work the first time and they do what they are designed to do.
I created an amazing collage wall from my collection of vintage frames. I followed all instructions because I did not want anything to happen to my collection. Everything was fine for about three months and then they all started falling off. I lost 4 of them before I finally took the whole wall down. It would be fine, except that one of them ripped the paint and plaster from the wall. Now I have to repair the spot and repaint it, plus repair the frame. Awesome. No short cuts people. These things are worthless. Just hammer in a nail.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish there were more in each package and that I could buy them in bulk for less! This makes hanging photos and frames and canvas super easy. I wish I had known about them sooner - I would have WAY fewer holes in my walls! I thought they were just the refills for the command hooks. The folks with the poor reviews clearly just don't know HOW to use them. I feel like it this product was marketed a bit better then they would sell to moms, teachers and home makers like wildfire. Some QVC how to videos and BOOM - they'd sell out!
