Wonderful to use.
Wonderful to use and looks great. Since I purchased my Weber Kettle Grill I learned more about how to grill than I thought I already knew. I downloaded the Weber app and have taken advantage of the information provided. Things like direct and indirect heat, meat placement and grilling times & food temperature. Love the design of the kettle lid and the importance of how the smoke travels to the vents and placement of the meats below top vents. Now my barbecue has that smoky flavor. The bottom of the kettle design has a handle to control ventilation and also assists with cleaning ashes which fall to the bottom.

Great upgrade features.
This is not my first Weber Kettle. I had my last one so long it was time to get another one. I really love the upgrade Weber did with the legs. The clips that you insert into the legs have a button that snaps into place when connecting it to the kettle. This is important for me because I have to move the kettle up the steps from my basement to the patio. Sometimes the legs would fall out. Not any more. The assembly booklet was very helpful. There is an online video if you want to use it. Registration of the product is also online. My Memorial Day grilling was memorable. Thanks for the improvements.

Love it

After nearly 20 years in the heat and rain of FL, my old Weber kettle finally died from some rust. So of course I bought a new one. I also have a Weber Genesis s435 gas grill but mostly use my charcoal grill, especially for "important" stuff like prime NY strips. Recommend reverse sear method for steaks and ALWAYS use the starter chimney. I have sometimes put the grate right on top of the starter chimney, which really makes it like looking into the business end of a jet engine. 2 minutes on each side after bringing internal temp to 115 F. Perfect medium rare steak! Have also made low and slow pork shoulder, brisket and even and spatchcocked Thanksgiving turkey on my Weber kettle.

Looooong time Weber owner
This is my 4-5th Weber and my 3rd or 4th Kettle in 45 years so I’m a little biased.
Every Thanksgiving I smoke a Turkey which always comes out great.
The current model goes together very quickly and easily, is well constructed and the ash removal process is very nice. It actually seems more robust than my last one from 15 years ago. Handle guard on lid is an improvement since then and the bottom storage rack is more solid.
Since my most common cooking method on the Kettle is indirect heat, I have the grate with wings that allows for the addition of more coals. A must have.

My family purchased this 22” charcoal Kettle
24 years ago this month. We have taken care of it, kept it covered, and used it every year since. Replacing only the cooking grill every few years. Growing up our parents had always trusted the Weber brand, so when we moved into our first home we bought this Weber kettle. It has lived up to the quality, workmanship, and product durability that can’t be said about other brands. We’re still cooking with it and hoping to pass it down to our kids for them to enjoy grilling with their families!
Thanks Weber for making such a good product!

Nothing beats the real thing

Have had the big box store gas grills, only to rot the burners in 3 yrs. The infrared block arm hair cincher is ultra expensive and practical but a pain to clean and replacement of one burner cost as much as 3 of these grills. This is only our second Weber in 32 years, gave the other one to our son. Once you master the chimney for starting the coals and get the baffle for indirect heat and the rotisserie kit and basket, you can do it all. Aftermarket stainless rod grill grates are my best update and highly recommend them, buy once and be done with cheap plates steel parts. Lump charcoal from B and B or Royal Oak as good as bags of others costing double. Can’t say enough about how good the Weber is. Enjoy !!!

Simply the best grill!
The classic, all-purpose grill, and it also serves as a smoker.
I recently gave away my old smoker, as it was too large for my purposes, and took up too much space in my garage. In my search for a new grill/smoker, I came to realize that the Weber Kettle grill was absolutely perfect for my needs.
To grill, I stack the charcoal in the middle of the lower grate, and things go per the usual plan.
To smoke, I line the charcoal around the elipse of one side, along with the wood chips, and I place the meat on the top grill surface on the other elipse.
Perfection every time!!

My Spare 'Original 22" Kettle - Isn't so original
3 years ago
A small but signifigant problem was noticed as soon as I put the kettle together. The handle and hook for the lid were no longer in line with each other. I have been using the kettles for about 35 years now. My wife bought me a spare. When I needed to cook 4 butts at once I decided it was time to get the new one going. When I found that the handle was 90 degrees out from the hook I just wondered what the 'original' part of the title was all about. Not a over all failure and it can certainly be used. It just makes things difficult when doing some heavier cooking.

The Original Kettle Continues to Evolve
I have owned a few kettles in my time and with each new model - Weber continues to improve the design. This latest version is no exception. Easier to assemble, better safety features, simpler functions and improved quality. I also purchased the Weber Rotisserie Ring Kit and it's new design fit is superior to the old models. No external tabs, that will eventually break off with wear to hold up the Ring. This new design - slips inside the kettle bowl to make a secure seal all the way around. Brilliant! Simple and efficient improvement. Good Old American Ingenuity.

A Classic, Still as Good as Ever
I switched to propane grills about 20 years ago for convenience, but recently bought a Weber kettle charcoal grill. It's solidly made, works great, and seems like it will last. Since Weber has been making the same basic design for years and years, they have refined it to near perfection.
Since the same basic design has been around a long time, there are lots of accessories available that make it easy and convenient for either smoking or grilling. The upper and lower vents with dampers make it easy to control air flow to smoke at a low temperature, or to sear at a high temperature.
The Weber website and iGrill app have lots of resources from recipes to grilling tips that are helpful for me to re-learn charcoal cooking.

Quality for Price isn't Great.
It's too expensive for what you get. I bought two of these and one of them the lid doesn't fit right. It also came with a chip in the lid pre-installed, so there's that.
It cooks. As it should. But it wasn't anything noteworthy. Average quality, it does what it's supposed to.
If I were giving it a grade, it'd be a C.
Weber has started charging more and giving less with these. Little things you normally wouldn't notice, like the thickness of the metal, overall. Or the quality of components compared to older models.
It is what is. 3 Stars.

Still a Weber grill fan
Purchased this grill to replace a 33 year old Weber kettle grill. Very similar to my old grill but it is readily apparent that the construction is not as “ heavy duty” as an older Weber kettle model. My new grill has only one handle on the lower kettle (to pull/roll the grill) vs. the two handle that the older models had to make it convenient to either pull or pick up and carry the grill. Also, the hook on the lid is located in a place that requires much more wrist strength to use vs. older versions. I had a minor part missing but I contacted customer service and they quickly and efficiently resolved the issue by shipping it out right away. Overall, I am very satisfied with my recent purchase and still recommend Weber grills.

RIP after 24 years
I came to post this review because I wanted to brag on my Webber grill. I purchased this grill 24 yrs ago, and today (while grilling my 3rd turkey to share), it finally said, "I've given you a long life, but it's time for me to go". After year round grilling for all these years, this is the last turkey my old friend will cook for me. The metal finally ate through where the legs connect.... but even then, I found a way to finish my last turkey. I will miss this old girl. Now to save up for a new baby Webber....because no other brand compares. RIP

Decent grill
Don’t get me wrong it’s a good little grill. I’ve used it to smoke ribs and cook burgers on multiple occasions and everything has come out amazing! But there a couple of improvements that would make this even better, especially for the price. Have a thermometer on the side of the vent, have a something on the top vent so you can grab it cause it gets hot. Things that they could add on this without hiking up the price too much. But it’s a good starter grill. Weber just needs to realize there is competition out there with good prices and all updated features.

Simply the Best
My kettle grill is about fifty years old. I porcelain finish is still fine. Why I say that is, I do not use lighter fluid. I light my lump charcoal with a 500,000 btu weed torch. There is no need to wait twenty minutes for charcoal to be white. Two minutes with my weed torch and the charcoal is ready to start grilling or roasting. If I am roasting I still use the two Weber charcoal holder for indirect roasting. About one minute on each holder with my weed torch and ready to start roasting. With all that heat (flame) the porcelain Is holding up fine.

Back to Charcoal
After using a gas grill for a couple of years I missed the flavor and versatility of a charcoal grill. My birthday was fast approaching and my wife asked me what I would like for the occasion. She talked about a couple of things that I had mentioned would be nice to have, but finally I said that I wanted to get back to grilling with charcoal and suggested a Weber Kettle. So that's what she got me, and I couldn't be happier. I use it 3 - 4 times a week and it's a success every time. (I'm thinking I may have to put my gas grill in mothballs). Whether I grill direct or indirect that flavor is always there. I have not ventured into smoking anything, but plan on going there soon. The bottom line is that I love my Weber Kettle.

Grillin n Smokin

Another one to the collection. Decided the framework of the last grill was perhaps weakened and needed to be upgraded. Didn’t get rid of the previous one however since we like to grill and smoke at the same time. Just made one of the most amazing smoked pork butts ever. Ten hours of smoking and some follow on tricks and it was so amazingly delicious that you would do it a horrific injustice adding sauces or seasongings. Beautiful smoke ring I might add. We’ve smoked briskets and ribs in them as well. Falling off the bone and delirious. Love my Weber’s!

The Standard of Charcoal Grilling
When I moved away my parents bought me this as a Christmas Gift. It was my first barbecue ever as well as my first experience grilling with charcoal. It took a while for me to get the hang of it, but I am hooked and never going back. I was amazed at just how versatile this grill is, from a quick burger grill to nice long smoking sessions this baby can handle it all. I would recommend maybe gowing up to the premium or master touch series though to get the grill grates or Gourmet system, but you can always just buy replacement grills for it if need be.

quality ...both good and bad..

love the webb cooker,it is so much easier to work and to create quality edible good looking food for the table, the reason i didnt give the full five stars id this.. the top grill has a bent edge that came with the box it was packed in. It works and I would "tweak" it back but then it would break completely then. fortunately it does not affect the purpose it was designed for but it still looks bad.other than the fact it shows some true "quality care" and or attitude problem with the packing folks the rest of the cooking device is superb.

With upgrades the perfect grilling machine
a year ago
I bought this about 6 weeks ago, where I complained about poor quality pieces. The kettle itself is as good as ever, just some of the other parts including the legs and grill grate were substandard, I was displeased with that and gave a poor review. Giovanna from Weber contacted me and asked how they could fix the issues. They sent me the proper replacement grill grate and a new set of legs. The unit is now as it is supposed to be and as I have become accustomed to. This is being used several times a week and suspect will last for several years.

My one and only grill
My parents bough this grill in the early 60s. I cooked with it nearly every week. When I bought my first house, this was about 35 years ago, I purchased this to cook my first meal in the house. When I moved, I bought a new grill as I didn't want to move a dirty grill and have owned this one 23 years. It has stayed outside except during hurricanes for all that time.
I recommend this grill without hesitation. If you have this grill I recommend its use for the Thanksgiving Turkey. It makes cooking the turkey very easy and its taste is superb.

Great Basic Charcoal Grill
This is my second 22" Original Kettle Grill. My last one (Which was over 10 years old when I got it from a neighbor who was moving) was given away to a neighbor when I won a new Kingsford Charcoal grill at out Neighbor Night out back in 2015. It's cast iron grates rusted out and finish started to bubble and rust after 3 years under a covered patio. It was a cheap replacement and my family bought me another new 22" Original Kettle Grill this year for Fathers Day with a cover. I loved my original grill and sure this one will get tons of use.

Just what i wanted
This is what a grill should be. I bought this grill to upgrade from a cheap plain 18 inch square grill i had been using and i'm so glad that i did. This 22 inch kettle is the perfect size for cooking for my family and has enough room to cook for a small gathering as well. The grill heats quickly and holds heat at steady temperatures. Once you learn to control the vents even low and slow cooking is possible. I've cooked whole chickens, racks of ribs, and more at a steady 250 degrees and the quality of the food was amazing. I add wood chunks to the coals and it works great as a smoker as well as just a grill. I would give it more stars if i could, as i can't find anything to really complain about. I love it and use it on average of five times a week.

Versatile Grill
The Weber Original Kettle Grill 22" is versatile enough to handle whatever I'm cooking up for a backyard barbecue. Indirect heat results in a delicious caramelized sauce on ribs or, with mesquite chips, a succulent whole smoked chicken. The vents modulate a charcoal fire perfectly, whether you want low and slow for tender drumsticks or hotter and faster for juicy grilled burgers or mouthwatering steaks. Thank you for the pleasure you have added to my life in 40 years of grilling on your excellent products. Nothing beats a Weber grill!

22" Weber Grill ~ No Frills
I've used it twice since I purchased it in the summer. It works fine for what it is, but it's not anything beyond a normal grill. I decided to use lump charcoal, not briquettes. I found the bottom grate was too wide and the lump charcoal would fall through to the ash holder. I went and purchased a second bottom grate, placed it 90 degrees offset and used safety wire to hold it. The cross hatch pattern that holds the lump charcoal is tight enough to keep the smaller parts from dropping down, but still provides enough air to keep the lump charcoal burning. I recommend this to any that decide to use lump charcoal and not briquettes. Outside of that I have no problems with the grill, it's just not that spectacular. Hopefully it will last a long time.

Long lasting
We were given one of these as an wedding gift. Although I replaced the charcoal grate several times the unit lasted us 30 years and would probably be still using had it not fallen off the back of a truck.
We cooked our Thanksgiving turkey on this grill several times.
We gave the same type Weber to others as wedding gifts, since we were so pleased with ours.
Unfortunately we replaced our Weber with a different make gas grill which has lasted only five years. Now on a fixed income my Weber days are over.
Great products though

Weber quality as always.

I switched back to charcoal from gas for the flavor so I can add wood chips directly on the coals. I’ve been messing around with the different positions in the Weber owner manual. I can get the required 2hrs of smoke to ribs and then still have enough heat to put the ribs in the aluminum pan with a little apple cider vinegar covered to give it that little bit of extra flavor and to tenderize them. To finish them off I char them with BBQ sauce and serve. Burgers and ribeyes I just use hickory or apple/cherry chips. For straight burgers I use mesquite chips because of the strong flavor. I haven’t done a shoulder yet so I’ll see how it does the shoulder later as it takes a good 6-8 hours to get it cooked to the right temperature full making pulled pork.

Coming back to charcoal, the right way
I’ve gone to a pellet smoking grill in recent times, but a few weeks ago, figured charcoal would be nice now and then as a complement.
I literally forgot how great a simple hamburger is when you cook it on the Weber. For the first time in seven years, I’ve put the cover over the smoking grill and have the Weber in my prime spot on the deck.
Better late than never!
(Plus this new Weber has so many design improvements compared to the one I bought in 2003...it’s like the Mercedes-Benz of charcoal grills or something...)

The grill works just fine and the food is always delicious. Its my first Weber, ever, and I use it every week. However this specific grill is quite limited in three major ways. 1) the plate that serves as an ash catcher is horrible. If you get some wind or a breeze that ash is getting tossed into the grass/surrounding area. 2) No thermometer to gauge the temperature, and 3) I wish my grill had some built on hooks to hold tongs, spatula, etc. A big pain in the butt to keep all that stuff elsewhere nearby. All in all the lesson learned is NOT to get cheap with the grill and trying to save some money. For those looking to get their first ever Weber, I highly suggest getting one with the pan as the ash catcher and a thermometer. Remember: if you're lookin' you aint cookin'

Still The Same
Years earlier I owned a kettle. Many great meals were prepared with that old one. I got modern and went to gas grills, but was never satisfied.
Upon purchasing the new 22" original kettle, I couldnt help but notice that there were changes. The 3 daisy wheels were replaced by a scraper/damper system. The wooden handle was now thermoplastic. The legs inserted in a different fashion.
But I can assure you of one thing. The grill itself still cooks the same great food!
Never going back to cheap gas grills again.
