Charcoal Grill - Kettle - 363 sq. ft.

I received my 22" Original Kettle as an anniversary gift from my employer. I have always wanted to own a Weber and was excited when I saw this one in the catalog! I have cooked two meals on it this week, both outstanding. Assembly could not have been simpler. Construction is very sturdy. My grill came with a cover, which fits very well and should keep my grill well protected for many years. I have already purchased some side charcoal baskets and a tool hanger, but have lots more accessories on my Christmas wish list! This is a versatile grill that anyone from a BBQ beginner to a seasoned pitmaster would truly enjoy and be proud to own.

The grill has maintained its popularity over the years for exceptional design that includes an easy removal system for used charcoal, a lower rack for storing charcoal, well placed handles protected from heat, and a strong body. But, what is even more exceptional is the distribution of heat that results in even cooking and smoking. Sloped sides and domed top create a flow of heat and smoke that results in even searing and cooking. Yes, I also have a Weber gas grill that is also fantastic, but when I want that exceptional flavor that comes from grilling over hot coals enveloped in taste enhancing smoke, then my kettle is the desired grill.

This is my second weber charcoal grill I first bought a 22" grill back in the 80's I've tried other types and brands over the years but have never found one that could outdo my old trusted kettle the wood handles finally wore out years ago, the vents on the bottom finally fused in place but it still grilled like the champ it was. Sad to say it passed on earlier this year when a freak ice storm caused our patio to collapse causing irrepairable damage to it. I did not hesitate or even consider any other replacement other than another classic 22" kettle grill from you. Here's hopeing that it will serve me and my family as well as the last one

After four years, my new Weber Kettle grill is rusting out where the pop welds hold up the charcoal grate. Each of the pop welds are rusting out in the same manner. My weber is never exposed to the elements, and I use a heavy duty cover. All other areas of the grill are fine. No rust present. I can only assume the issue is a factory defect. I purchased a new weber because I had my old one for 25 years. When I moved, I treated myself to a new grill. However, the new grill is rusting which has never happened to me before with a Weber. They clearly are not the same quality and not worth the price. I should have kept my old one.

This is our 2nd Weber kettle charcoal grill, our last one was at least 15 years old and it was still kicking. We ended up replacing it mostly because the lid had been dented over the years and no longer fit well (we live in Upstate NY and use it year round even in a couple feet of snow). I saw one on sale and figured we could use another. The old one will probably end up at camp. It’s a great grill. I do prefer the chimney to light the coals, but none of us get the newspaper anymore so I have to buy packing paper or start it the old fashioned way and let the fluid smell burn off Either way you light it, it’s a great grill!!!

Two obvious issues: Most obvious appears when even a light wind blows ashes out of the ash catcher dish! The solution was to purchase and install a large capacity ash catcher # 65143. Another minor irritation was having to wear a glove to adjust the hot lid damper. Only solution was to purchase a # 63070 damper kit and remove the nylon handle, then install it on the original damper. Handle alone did not appear to be available for purchase, but it should be factory installed on the damper during assembly...Hot damper is a very obvious safety matter. After adding these two features to the grill I am very pleased with it.

This is a good grill. The base model needs to be enhanced with the Weber 7478 Charcoal Grill Tool Hook Handle. In my opinion that would have made my experience better out of the box. Also the hook for the grill cover lid is way too small. Even with remembering which side the hook is on (by using the Weber logo and grill cover handle placement) it’s not very easy to hook without a bracket hinder. If it was maybe two inches longer it would be easier to use. Personally, I would like the legs to be just a bit taller. I’m 6’1” so I would have appreciate a little more height. With a little enhancements this grill will be awesome.

Had the 22" and 18" back in the late 80's up into the 90's and loved them, just like this new 22". Really like the lower vent/ash remover, only 2 thing's I'd change is a stop for the closed position and a decent thermometer but those are a very minor issue. After years of not using a Kettle Grill my first time with the new grill was like I never quit using one, it's easy to control the heat and cooks evenly throughout the entire cooking grate. Assembly was super easy with clear easy to understand directions. Buying another 22" this fall when they go on sale and storing it for when this one wears out in 20 years
