    Thuya: maintenance tips

    A narrow hardy conifer often used for hedges.

    Common name: Cedar

    Exposure

    Prefers full exposure to sun. Tolerates half-shade, but foliage will be less dense.

    Watering

    Water abundantly at planting. In autumn, if rainfall is low, water at the base of the trees to prevent drying out over winter.

    Planting

    Plant in rich, well-drained soil.

    Fertilization

    Fertilize with a granular conifer fertilizer at planting. Repeat fertilization every spring. Avoid fertilizing after mid-June, as this may interfere with the maturation period.
