Awesome slide mechanism

I've used this knife for a week or two now and have been very happy with it. I didn't used to cary a utility knife on me, I always used my leatherman knife. Having this at my side all day while working is really convenient. I like being able to adjust the depth of the blade. My only complaint is that the blade goes from scary sharp to just very sharp pretty quickly. It's still sharp, but its not ninja slice a piece of paper sharp. To be fair, I'm not sure if this is an aspect of all blades or if I'm just being harder on this blade thanks to their claims. I would recommend this knife.

Go OLFA, don't waste time with other blades...

I love this blade! I mainly use it to cut/strip wire and to size sheetrock and I haven't had to snap off a single blade in the 2 months since receiving it. The fiberglass housing is much touger than the cheap plastic housing of my old blade. I can use the knife however I please without fear of anything snapping under pressure and that reliability is priceless. My only suggestion is to add an end cap that you flick back to change the blade. It's fine how it is now because it takes some force to push the blade holder out in order to change it, and it clicks beforehand so you know that if you push a little more the blade holder will come out for changing, but I would like to see an end cap as an added feature.
ProsAttractive, Comfortable Grip, Durable, Easy To Clean, Easy to change blades

My favourite knife!
I am a glazier by trade and spent a lot of time changing windshield. I’ve been buying Olga brand knives for year, but this knife is my absolute favourite. I usually own several of these knifes at a time and use them daily. 99% of the time I have to replace them due loss rather than breakage. The “hook” on the back I’ve used as pry tool for plastic plugs, a dull edge box opener and flat screw driver. The low pro slide opener is great and doesn’t drag in the pocket like wheeled knives.
I will continue to buy these knives until Olga discontinues them, hopefully never.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I typically don't post reviews but I have been thoroughly pleased with my 18mm Heavy Duty Hitter. I love having a sharp blade and have always been a fan of the snap off, deep reach utility blades. Years ago I used a much lower quality brand utility blade to cut through flex duct on HVAC installs, wish I had an OLFA blade back then. Lately I have used my 18mm blade for several tasks such as cutting thick cushion foam and 1/2" Rubber stall mats. Blade quality and sharpness are exceptional. Will definitely continue to use OLFA products in the future. #sweepstakes

Only buy Olfa utility knives

I've been using utility knives (at work and at home) for long enough that I've learned that the cheap ones are junk. Every knife I've ever purchased from Olfa is still in use to this day, it's the only knife worth buying. This knife offers some great new features that enhance the usability of it - the comfort grip handle is really comfortable to hold and when you need to use the knife for multiple hours it really makes a difference and I love the pick, it's so handy to have and keeps me from bending the tips of the blade sleeve on the knife. #sweepstakes

OLFA Utility Knife

Not only is this an amazing knife but the company has absolutely impeccable service. All I had to do was contact them via Instagram and they sent me a free knife to try out before I decided to purchase a bunch of different items that they created. I own my own business and we do many different things; therefore it is an absolute must to have so many different variations of utility knifes on hand at all times; Olfa makes this possible! Great quality, durable, sharp and reliable. I would recommend these products/company to any and everyone!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are great knives. I got one and I was blown away with how shape the blades are. The blade stays out and doesn't easily retract unless you want it to. I was very leery of the pick on the end but I end up using it daily for many off tasks. The knife is very well built and seems like it will last me a long time. I keep one in my work bag that opens bags/boxes and strips wires back or cuts ram board and other things. Then I also keep one in my garage for woodworking that helps a lot with marking wood and opening packages. #sweepstakes

The Finest Utility Knife
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am an Art Handler and use this knife on a daily basis in the field. From cutting cardboard, rigid archival board, matboard, soft polyethylene foam, and anything in between, this product stands up to the test. The comfortable ergonomic design lends itself to being truly accurate with every cut, and you never feel like the blade will drift off the cut or malfunction given the knife's heavy-duty construction. Even after the 100th cut, OLFA's provided blade stuck true to the quality of when I first used it. When it comes time to change blades, it couldn't be any easier either. Overall, this utility blade has been the finest I have ever used. It has stood up to many uses, and a myriad of different job types. #sweepstakes 100% would recommend this product.

It's a basic utility knife. I find the styling of these knives to be somewhat unsafe. I'm a 20 year Union Electrician and would never use this knife on a job site. It would probably be lost within a day. You could purchase the cheaper versions of this utility knife for less money and the backs of them are equipped with a tool to safely snap off used blade portions. This knife was sent to me with just the request of a review.. Unfortunately, I can't give it a good one. It's not something I would ever purchase or use regularly.

In remodling , I got the olfa about the time I was finishing up the drywall install, I had cut drywall , cut al the paper to cover the flooring was great to have the sharp knife to be able to cut without tearing the rosin paper up, it's got a handy way to open paint cans on backend of the olfa. Worked good for scoring diffrent materials, vinal plank flooring, cement board, wood shim shingles as w as many other items g hat I would normaly use a utility knife for. It was slim and easy to just carry in my pocket .

Best utility knife I have used.
I have used this knife on a daily basis since I received it. The first thing I noticed was how much better it felt in my hand compared to other utility knives I have used in the past. The increment stops are very positive and tactile. The blade was noticeably sharper and has stayed sharp. I have used this knife for everything from opening packages, cleaning splinters from pocket holes after drilling, to cutting templates in cardboard and plastics. It has stood up to every job I have put it to. I'm a believer.

Indispensable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hesitated to spend more than what I had previously paid for the countless flimsy razor knives I'd destroyed over the years, but after splurging on an LA-X I finally understood their value. I now have three of these knives so I can keep one handy anywhere I am. It's the sturdiest knife of this type I've held, and the utility-pryer thing on the handle is awesome (best use so far has been pulling up old staples a tenant had gone a little overboard with when hanging up decorations in a bedroom). #sweepstakes

Exceeds Expectation
I always thought the OLFA was just another snap blade knife. Not so !! I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong, this knife is awesome. It's well made and light weight with a non-slip rubberized grip which makes it comfortable to hold. The blade is extremely sharp and easily extends and retracts with positive click stops the entire length of the auto-lock feature. Whether you're a homeowner, hobbiest, DIYer or professional tradesman this is a must have addition to any tool kit
What can one say about a "box cutter" type knife? These are the tools you reach to when something needs to be cut. There are three things that differentiate these types of knives - how sharp is it? How comfortable is it? How easy it is to swap blades? Cheap home improvement store knives have blades that dull quickly, often have sharp edges that make them uncomfortable to use. Finally, most require a screwdriver to swap blades. This OLFA is solid, with rubber bits where others have metal and that makes the very comfortable to use. The blades not only are sharp, but somehow they stay sharp far longer than the other blades. Changing blades is without tools and safe. The only downside is that there are no instructions on how to change blades but once you get the hang of it you will be surprised at how easy it is.
ProsAttractive, Comfortable, Durable
ConsChanging blades is a bit uninuitive
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great knife for overall use!
First time using the knife was to cut open 55 cardboard cabinet boxes & then put down 80 square feet of LVP flooring, we have not snapped off the first blade tip yet & it is still cutting as sharp as the first time. Started using a standard utility knife, but after the about the 5th cut the blade tip broke & switched out the blade then we switched to the LA-X & with the auto lock & it performed beyond our expectations! We will definitely be buying more of these.

Good quality Utility Knife
The OLFA LA-X utility knife fits comfortably in my hand. I wear Blaklader pants a lot and the knife fits perfectly in a side pocket. Nice sharp blade. Used the opener on paint cans with no problem. I've easily cut the thick plastic packaging that we are all familiar with. Before using the OLFA LA-X utility knife I used a Fastcap tri-blade utility knife that felt cheap and broke on my within 3 months. The OLFA LA-X appears to be higher quality then the Fastcap.

Was pleasantly surprised how many applications this new blade has stood up too. I'm only on my second blade notch and have utilized this tool for any thing from rough to to fine cuts on materials such as 2" foam board, Fiberglass insulation, tar roofs, and my new go to for thermal pan cardboard cuts. I'm loving how long the blade has lasted and how well this thing fits in my tool pouch or pocket. I feel sorry for my other blade that are now collecting dust.

Works very well for what it is, great for cutting things like insulation (foam or fiberglass), cardboard, scoring plastic, etc. Way more useful than I thought it would be. I always thought the cheap, flimsy snap-off style knives were useless. This one is not. I'm not throwing away my various EDC or sheet-rock knives, but I keep this in my shop and it's a go-to for so many tasks it doesn't even go in a drawer, it sits on one of my work benches.

I'm loving this knife!

I used the knife initially to open boxes, then I had a modelmaking project due and I decided to give it a shot. The locking mechanism works really nicely and my foamcore was cut at a perfect 90 with the ruler. I use a smaller Olfa knife most of the time, 9mm, but this one packs a serious punch (it's sharp, too!) The pick is a little weird and I don't have a lot of use for it, but it'll come in handy one day. I'm very satisfied with the knife.

Great, Durable blade

Blade housing has great grip, amazing ergonomic design and good materials to grip with or without gloves. We have a 100% glove policy so it is important to have a blade that is easily operational with gloves on. The blade actuator is big enough and has the groves that make it ideal for use with gloves. The materials great, durable and seems like it will hold throughout many projects. Definitely providing Olfa blades for my crews.

This knife goes with me wherever I go, from installing flooring to grafting trees.
The black snap blades make clean, precise cuts in all kinds of linoleum and other flooring.
When grafting trees, I use the metal pick at the back end of the knife. I make a clean cut and use the metal pick to gently peel away the bark to expose the cambium layer. I've tried other fancy knives for grafting but keep coming back to this one.

Great design for the la-x I really like the metal pry tool on the back, I've found multiple uses from paint cans to prying up plastic tabs. The knife is great design also, I like how it locks in the middle position of the snap blade. My first OLFA product and probably won't be my last. I find myself grabbing this more often than I normally would a standard utility knife. Great product and thanks for the sample!

The only knife I'll buy

Got my first one when I was 11 for cutting strings on hay bales, i have tried other knives but I have learned not to waste money, its the only knife in my rool boxes now, I have over a half dozen between my trucks, carpet tool box, linoleum box, overalls, framing pouch and mechanic box. The thumb slide is awesome, I dont have to take my hand off of whatever I am holding to lock and unlock the blade.

Best utility knife I've ever owned!
I used this knife daily, never had any problems. The pick on the back has been extremely helpful. I need to find a holder that attaches to my belt though. It's a little carrying this in my pocket all the time. I've had this knife since March, still using the same blade it came with. Down to the last 3 segments. Time to buy more. Like I said, I use it daily. Best knife I've ever had! Thank you.

I work at a commercial sign company, We make signs of all types plus we do installs. We have similar utility knives of good quality but i would say the OLFA (mine) is better because its lighter and is easier to find. Plus my blades do seem to out last the other employees blades. Only problem is a couple of the fellows keep taking my knife! I think they are jealous because mine is nicer :-).

Got this knife and initially was curious about the rear “blade” but after carrying at a trim carpenter for months I can tell you it is the best of both worlds!! A blade that is sharper than any Stanley knife with the ability to pry and scrape and do all the things a utility knife should not do on the other end! And all with a long blade that auto locks in position!!! Awesome tool!

As a commercial and residential glazier this knife is perfect. I use it for cutting rubber when glazing storefronts and use it to trim rubber and plastic while installing shower doors mostly. I bought one of these after running through multiple cheap utility knives you see at the big box stores and hardware stores. Those things just don't last. This Olfa LA-X is the best thing I've ever used. It's well designed, and the metal tab on the back makes it perfect for opening cans. I just bought my 2nd one, and will probably add another just to keep in the truck.

My go to knife.
I'very had this about a month and it's become my go to utility knife. The extendable blade is great so that you can get an etrxa long blade for reaching into creases or when you want a long cut. And snapping tips means the blade is ss sharp as you need it. Reloading the blades can be a bit trick, but I haven't had to do it often because the blade edges stays pretty sharp.
