PACKOUT Tool Storage Crate - 18"

Ive used this pack out to hold my hand tools, its great for that however I wouldn’t consider it a good packout. Ive had problems with locking other pack outs on top of it. Hitting bumps and potholes usually causes whatever is locked to the top of it to come off. I recently had lost a packout box along with hundreds of dollars worth of tools i had in it because of this issue. I only purchase milwaukee tools because of the quality and trust i can have in them, however this crate does not quite live up to what i hoped a packout would be, its durable but it is not something you can trust to hold another packout on top of it.

I use this crate to store and carry multiple tools and parts on the job as an A/V technician. When I purchased the crate I didn’t notice that the lock mechanism was missing, and when I did notice it was not there I thought Milwaukee designed it that way. It’s actually become very annoying as the crate slides out of my Packout “stack” when I’m driving in the work van, and everything falls over. I have to put it to the side now when I drive taking up space that I could be using to store something else. I was disappointed with the crate not having a locking mechanism from the very beginning, even more so now that I know there should have been a lock in the first place.

I'm a contractor and Master Carpenter in Florida I use these crates for everything. One benefit from these crates is that I have the connecting plates attached to my trailer floor and when I need to be dustless my festool strainers fit right inside perfectly with very little space to rattle so now I can put my festool strainer boxes together and set them inside one of these crates and then bungee cord it down to the floor mount it works perfect in fact I have boughten a dozen of them

I probably have around 30+ crates that I use in my supply storage for all different types of tools and supplies, drywall, paint, automotive, adhesives, you name it I have a crate for each category. After these crates came out, I switched out all my tool crates for the Packout crate and they have been a great addition. I can easily grab and go to my job sites. The crates are well made and durable, and I agree a lid type option would be a great upgrade to these crates!!

This is a great product. I feel like it was not marketed properly. I say that because you can connect other packout boxes to the top of this, including the work surface and initially I was worried that I would be unable to do so , so I opted for other boxes instead. Being able to use the work surface as a lid will be a big benefit to me. I am not the most organized person, but I am trying. At the end of the workday, depending on how much time I have or do not have, I will throw stuff into the crate as oppose to the respective boxes to leave the work site. This way I can easily find the items later as oppose to searching through my other boxes. Another minor issue for me, aside from the lack of a carrying handle, is that the crate is a little bit small( width wise) than some of the other packout boxes so I am unable to fit as much in it

I actually love this system including the crate, and have purchased six crates so far as grab-and-go kits for certain home projects (electrical, plumbing, patching) and cordless tool storage. The only thing that I don’t like is that the footprint is smaller than the PACKOUT storage boxes which costs some capacity. I had to store my reciprocating saw diagonally, losing space for other tools. Still recommend though.

I'm still getting amazed by the quality and type of products that are still coming out. I was one of the first to get the new storage system and now we have this packet. It's though, reliable all around great. Don't hesitate to buy one the amount of different way Milwaukee has come around to use it. It's just phenomenal. Use it going on walls or on a cart. It's just a great tool to keep things organized and in one place. My only problem is it's height. It should be as tall as a milk create and have the additional height to use the quick coupling connection they use in the other cases. It should be at least 2" higher. Note: I don't know if there is a reason for it height. Some kind of standard? For an example. You can use it to store gallons of paints but not the can of 1 gallon thinner, no worries on gases the two side handles gives enough ventalition to keep gases away.

Wow! Just Great ! Just about perfect shape, design, quality, and even love the color! LOL! Sure, it's a dairy crate, but elegantly beautiful and functional! Only for those who love their tools, take pride in their work, have something to say to the world about being excellent about their systems and methods, who love great tools !!! My old dairy crates have been updated and refreshed ! Just Excellent !
