I own the 18v-only 6-battery charger, not this one, and absolutely love multi-charging. It actually does change the way one works, for the better. I do use 18v and 12v, so I would have purchased this unit if I did not already own the 18v-only version and mostly use 18v tools. This 18v/12v version appears improved over the excellent 18v-only version (some simultaneous charging rather than consecutive-only charging), and having both 18v and 12v in one charger clearly has some advantages. The obvious downside is that this 18v/12v is substantially larger than the 6-battery 18v charger, at least without the batteries on them. What would be best for folks like me (and also for 12v-only users) would be for Milwaukee to add a 12v-only charger to the line, smaller like the 18v-only unit is. After being so pleased with the 6x18v I would also buy a 6x12v device. Perhaps the batteries could angle in to fit 2x3 12v batteries in a smaller footprint using the same general charger layout. I routinely use all 6 slots of the 18v charger, keeping compact and XC choices always ready for use; very convenient. It would be nice to do the same with 12v.
One reviewer on another site commented that the handle makes for a clunky wall-mounted unit, but for jobsite convenience the carry handle works great, in my opinion a big value add. Personally I would just saw the handle off if I intended a permanent wall mount, but I move it among jobsites (a main reason for battery tools) and consider the handle _mandatory_. If I was Milwaukee engineering I would never drop the handle but might consider making the handle permanently removable to accommodate home DIY buyers who want to wall mount.
