Decent but not durable

I use this at my home to trim back honeysuckle periodically. Not hard use or commercial use. The blade locked up tonight. This would be the third milwaukee outdoor that I have had fail. First a battery sprayer, then electric full-size chainsaw and now the hedge trimmers. The other 10K of Milwaukee power tools such as my Fuel drills, sawzalls, grinders don’t have any issues. Not impressed with the outdoor yard line of equipment.

I have used this hedge trimmer for clearing my 4 wheeler trails, clearing out low hanging limbs for my driveway and finesse work on some hedges at my rental properties. I cannot recommend this enough! I went through a couple batteries the first couple days I owned this and my biggest complaint was that it got heavy after several hours of work. I realize that this is not an all day tool so I chalk that up to not being used to it.

An 18v hedge trimmer with attitude

Need a rechargeable 18v hedge trimmer that will exceed your expectations? I trimmed 40' of really overgrown evergreen shrubs that are 5' tall and it worked like a charm. Then I did the back lot line thats 200' of solid woods encroaching the grass. Next a couple of smaller separate hedges and finished up with some massive raspberry bush trimming. All of it took about 30 to 35 min and it used less than 50% of a 5 ah 18v battery.

This hedge trimmer is nice I have the pole hedge trimmer and my wife does not like it so I went and got this for her I went out of town for work for a couple of days and came back and she cut all the bushes in the yard and she said she loves the hedge trimmer she said she couldn’t believe she only used one battery it looks like she used a 4 amp and there was still two bars on it and she liked that she didn’t have to use a cord

With the 9.0 Battery it's perfectly balanced, but heavy. It cuts great, the motor is strong and I won't miss mixing pre-mix and dealing with ethanol fuels. It's a bit of a work out, but well worth the workout for the results. I've used the smaller battery and it worked just as well. I recommend it, but know that you need some strength to muscle it around. I'm a non-commercial user w/ Commerical equipment experience.

This is an awesome tool. This tool works considerably better than others on the market. I have other Milwaukee tools and have not been disappointed in any of them; this is no exception. Plows through thick shrubs with ease and I don’t have a problem with battery life. I have approximately a third of an acre with a moderate amount of shrubs and brush and this tool has been quite pleasing to use for maintaining our yard.

My electric hedge trimmer broke and I was hesitant about going to a cordless tool. As it turns out I was completely WRONG, I love it!!! Although it's heavier than my old one it's larger and worth the extra weight. I use it for trimming EVERYTHING, Boxwoods, Azelias, Arborvites and on and on. Plenty of power and large enough to cut the bigger pieces that my old one would not. I woul NEVER go back to electric, I LOVE it.

This hedge trimmer makes my yard work so much easier. I used to have to get up a ladder to get Jasmine's cut now all from the ground including trimming across the top at a 90° angle. Plenty O Power from the 5 ah M18 to get it done with the extension bar tool, power bar, and trimmer it is not to heavy to handle just a getting used to it. As always time will tell if the whole tool holds up with some care. Like it so far.

Great product, definitely does what I need it to do. I’ve used it on several occasions to cut/trim my juniper bushes and it cuts through them with ease. The same goes for when I use it on a big hedge that I trim in my yard. No problems at all and it never bogs down. It is a bit on the heavy side with the battery, but it’s balanced well and its good performance far outweighs the extra heaviness. Happy with the purchase!

Being retired, it 'Cuts down the time spent', no pun intended. Just what was needed in preliminary pruning lengthy Forsythia hedgerow and ornamental Vinca Major fence overhang a foot from the ground up. Trimmer was easy to handle with 9 volt and the sharpness of the blades remained tight. I am a DIY Milwaukee M18 user with many power tools and the packout. Excellent design quality in mind of user and functionality.

Longer cutting blade than the average corded hedge trimmer so it will speed up your work. Plenty of power and lasts a long time when paired with a 5 ah battery. A bit heavier than a corded trimmer when you add the battery but totally manageable and well balanced. Love the fact that you can grab and go and not have to set up cords which for me was sometimes 150’. Definitely recommend to anyone with a large property.

Has an impressively long bar, runs quiet and has sharp teeth. With the length comes a little extra weight but it’s manageable. Using a 5.0XC battery I used it for 30 minutes and it had 4 bars still. Has a nice bar cover for storage. Cut through a bush branch that was as big around as a no.2 pencil. Great buy! Just wish I had saw the QUIK-Lock tool first and i would have gotten that instead for the Change-ability

I looked at several cordless hedge trimmers before settling on this one. I was concerned about the weight compared to some of the smaller ones available. The cutting thickness and its ability to share use of my other m18 batteries made the decision for me. It cut great and with the battery installed, it felt better balanced and the weight did not seem to be an issue. The blade cover is a nice add on as well.

Lots of power, not bad!

The hedge trimmer does a pretty fine job; I had some weeds that were so big they made themselves into trees… this thing took them down like a champ and don’t burn the battery out like the weed eater does. An hour of grinding tough stuff and i don’t think it lost a light of charge. Follow the directions on after care though, I have some discoloration on the blade after the first use because I didn’t.

Prior to buying this trimmer I did alot of research. I also use alot of Milwaukee M18 products as a maintenance person with good luck. Wasn't sure about trying Milwaukee yard products but I must say WOW! The trimmer is fast, ergonomically great .Did alot of trimming using a 5 amp hr. battery . Still showed 1/2 charge when I was done. Cut my time at least in 1/2 by not having to mess around with cords.

I purchased this trimmer for my father because I have so many M18 tools that I just let him use one of my bateries. His corded Black and Decker trimmer fianally died after 20 years of hard service. He only trims the hedges twice a year. On a 12.0 battery with 3 hours of trimming some pretty overgrown hedges I can tell you he's worn out way before the battery is and he loves the trimmer. He did seriously consider the entry level Stihl trimmer but weight, vibration, and cost were definitely a factor in the decision. Our only critique is that we wish it was greasable/field serviceable. The quality and capability of batery tools in this segment is now capable of matching the gas tools, DEPENDING on the application. The Battery's platform is an investment. This is why I think field serviceable tools (in certain segments) should be looked as the next step in the cordless world.

I have many shrubs to trim on my property and it's always a painstaking job to cut and trim them every year. My last home was surrounded by hedges and yews and equally a backbreaking job yearly. I have had hedge trimmers that never did the job well until I purchased Milwaukee's M18 Fuel Hedge Trimmer..It does the job in half the time and cuts like a hot knife through butter on every type of shrub.

When my husband passed away I was left with a garage full of fuel powered lawn equipment at my home and the same at my cabin. I struggled continuously with not only getting things started but also with handling heavy/cumbersome weed eaters, blowers, trimmers, etc. not to mention the issues with them breaking down and needing repair. My Milwaukee collection began with the M18 blower, chainsaw, pole saw and weed eater and most recently I added this M18 Hedge Trimmer. I LOVE IT! It's lightweight, powerful and has plenty of run time for me to accomplish the trimming around my house. I cannot speak highly enough about the cordless Milwaukee tools...no more messing with gas/oil and I no longer have to swallow my pride and ask a man to get things started for me because I'm not strong enough to repeatedly pull those stupid rip cords. Thank you Milwaukee, my collection has only just begun!!

The product is the articulating hedge trimmer. This trimmer makes trimming a breeze. In the past I would have to climb a ladder to get to much of what had to be pruned but using this tool enables me to do 90% of the work from the ground and it slices through branches like butter. The battery lasts quite a long time and powers the tool with as much force as any electrical trimmer I have used.

I bought these to help clear trails for Jeep Jamboree. I already had M18 batteries so it was a good fit for me. They have worked great so far and sure beats cranking on the group's gas powered set. These will cut anything you can fit through the guards. One recommendation is to keep the blades sprayed with a light coat of WD-40. The blades will try to surface rust if left in the safety sheath.

So I owned a landscaping company in the past and have used many gas powered units. The power of the Milwaukee is great and is good for home use, only changes I wish it had was blades all the way to the end with no guard, and also have double blades on both sides, the unit has only single blade on each side so that is a professional nit picking, overall it’s a good well balanced unit.

Overall far better than my old cordless Black and Decker that lasted for years. As I have now standardized on Milwaukee for all of my cordless tools this was the natural choice to replace my broken tool. The unit is very powerful and works exceptionally well. If I had one criticism of the trimmer is it is a bit heavy (perhaps I am just getting older) and I tire easily using it.

This product is absolutely great. In the first two uses, I got the job done in just a little more time than I would have spend fiddling with the cord for my old trimmer. Then there is the issue of cutting speed and aggressiveness. The Milwaukee is so much better than my old trimmer. I bought this not to trim hedges, but to clear out shooting lanes for deer blinds. And yes, worked absolutely perfect. Very impressed, to hell with trying to cut brush with a chainsaw, this is what you want. No more chain pops, swing this puppy around like a light saber, feel like darth.
