Just bought it but happy with purchase

I use this to trim my shrubs. I have an old B&D electric trimmer and cut the cord one last time. After this, I got frustrated and decided to go wireless/battery. Since it is Autumn, I did not need a full trim, but more of a cleanup and got the job done much quicker than with my old trimmer when not cutting the cord. This trimmer has power to cut through older growth while the old one bogged down. I could trim the sides easily as it slid through even some older growth. After 20 minutes of use, my 5.0 A.H. battery still had 2 bars with no loss of power. I picked the 5.0 as a balance between price, weight, and how long it will last. I also have a backup 5.0 battery.

No bush stands a chance. I have used an old corded set of trimmers for years that barely got the job done. Buying these was like going from a chevette to a corvette. Couldn’t be happier with them! They are surprisingly light and power full. Thumb size limbs slice like butter, and I have yet to tire them with a 5.0 battery.. Right out of the box they’re sharper than Karens voice at the managers desk. Thank you Milwaukee for making such a great line of tools! I’m confident in the tools, and feel like I don’t have to baby them. I’m looking forward to many years of service out of these and my other Milwaukee power tools.

Was skeptical at first being battery powered, but this thing rocks! It chewed up, down, sideways and on into next week. I take care of my yard, my parents yard and my MIL's yard. Spent 3 days trimming and still had battery left. It was eating everything I threw at it. A little on the heavy side, but that's to be expected with a 24" blade. However, it is balanced very well and I didn't seem to get tired or mind at all. In fact, I rather enjoyed slinging through all the hedges and brush. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up. You'll be glad you did. Now I'm eyeballing other M18 products. Great stuff Milwaukee!

Impressive with few Shortcomings

I came from a 20+ year old electric model and wished that I would have moved to this unit a lot sooner. It effortlessly cuts through small branches and bushes without hesitating. My only issues would be the lack of a trigger lock so that you don't have to squeeze the trigger the entire time, but I understand the safety considerations of not having one. Also it is a bit of a hefty tool especially when you are using it for overhead cutting tasks. It is also a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I am just a homeowner rather than a professional using this tool daily but I would gladly buy it again.

Great trimmer

Great trimmer. Not too heavy and handles my 100 ft of various hedges with one 9ah battery. Cuts clean and I seldom have to go over an area multiple times.
One caveat:
The trimmer I bought had so little lubrication (white lithium grease) in the gearbox, it may as well have not been lubricated at all. While reading through the owners manual, I decided to familiarize myself with the lube procedure. The manual describes the locations and general amounts of white lithium grease to use on the components. Mine may have been just an assembly station anomaly, but I'm really glad I checked it. Buyers may wish to remove the bottom cover plate on the gearbox and confirm proper lubrication.

I bought this hedge trimmer because I don’t use one enough to own a gas operated trimmer.
It works better then I expected. It cuts my bushes and trims my smaller trees very well. It takes no effort from me compared to the way I used to do it by hand and with shears and snips.
This Milwaukee hedge trimmer cuts anything that fits in the gap of the cutter.
I’ve used amazon few gas trimmer and they blow exhaust in your face the entire time your using them. This one doesn’t bother you at All.
The best part is there’s almost no maintenance just charge the battery or battery’s and clean the blade off after use. I also Oil the blade to keep it sharp and from moisture sticking too it.

I’d say it worked wonders ( it does work great) but I have to give more recognition to my husband Héctor who operated it.
My not so nice neighbor let his massive hedges grow out of control and they were very grown over our fence. Also a tree with them.
I had ask the neighbor 3 summers ago and twice this summer but he just ignored me.
So my wonderful husband went and bought this tool and one to cut branches. It didn’t take him long to buzz it down and loaded it and took it away.
My husband is my hero in this.
That said the hedge trimmer is great quality, decently priced and easy to operate.

Blade Issues

I bought this tool September 2022 and didn't the tool until summer of 2023, using it 1 time. I placed the tool back into the blade sheath and stored the tool in my shop. I went to use it September of 2024 and upon removing the blade sheath the blades were rusted. I put a battery in the tool and tried to run it and the blades didn't move, so I sprayed PB Blaster on them and the blades still didn't move. The blades are made of a cheap grade metal that rust very easily. Milwaukee needs to use a better grade of metal and I say this because I have other Milwaukee tools in my shop that don't have any issues sitting out and getting rust on them. I will never spend money on a Milwaukee yard tool again.

This hedge trimmer performs very well in its intended role (residential hedge care). It is powerful - will cleanly cut anything that fits in its teeth, which is about 5/8" - works flawlessly and simply, is well balanced with any battery, feels substantial and of high quality manufacture. Again, its surprising how much work can be accomplished with any of the battery sizes - much more than expected. To be clear, hard cutting, not just nipping new shoots. Strongly recommended. The only downside, if it can be called that, is, like most Milwaukee Fuel products, it isn't inexpensive. Then again, you get what you pay for, so I'm simply commenting on principle. For what it does/can do, its a fine pricer performer.

I bought this trimmer to replace a competitors brand that no longer did the job the way I wanted. When I used the Milwaukee trimmer to "touch up'" the trimming I did with the other tool, the difference was day and night. It was like going to a hair salon and getting your hair razor cut instead of trimmed with a pair of pinking shears.
The trimmer cut smoothly and took the hedge down at least a half inch without leaving the holes the other one did. When I was finished and backed away to check out the work, it was amazing.

I am using this unit for my own personal use. I have corded trimmers and was tired of worrying about cutting the cord and also having to get a cord out each time to use them.
I have many Milwaukee tools and had thought about buying this trimmer for awhile. I expected it to work well, but after using it to cut back some hedges that really needed a heavy cut back, I was truly impressed at how well it did. With the long cutting blade it made it easier to not bend over so far and the ease it cut with was amazing. I cut for 3 1/2 hr. with the same 8amp battery.

I use this hedge trimmer to maintain all of the shrubs and bushes on my 1-1/2 ac property. It can cut up to 3/4” branches with little effort and the battery last plenty long to handle everything that I need done. I would highly recommend this product to anyone from a homeowner to someone that owns a lawn maintenance company. It has the power to keep up with gas powered competitors with none of the hassle. It lives up to the Milwaukee name and I am very happy with it. I actually just purchased the Gen 2 M18 blower and was very impressed with this unit.

I've have had a gas trimmer (the top brand) for several years and it still works fine. But I thought I'd try the M18 trimmer for the convenience factor. I found I prefer this cordless model over the gas. It starts immediately, is easy to work with, revels the gas trimmer for power and in between cuts I can put it down, do my picking up and then go right back to trimming without having to restart with a pull cord. So basically I like this one for the same reason I bought a M18 weed whip. One by one I'm switching over to cordless for my outdoor power tools.

Relief from fumes vibration weight

Smooth operating and NO FUMES!! My HC-150 gas trimmer spewed fumes pretty much right in my face. I always felt ill after using it. The Milwaukee trimmer is much lighter and way less vibration than the HC-150. The Milwaukee blades come very sharp but already have signs of wear after 2 12HD battery cycles, unlike the HC-150 which is still sharp after 10 years of home use. I trimmed for a half hour without an aching back with the Milwaukee trimmer. I’d only last 10 minutes until I needed a break from the fumes, weight and vibration on my gas trimmer.

I was reluctant to buy a battery powered garden implement as I figured it’d be tough to be gas powered tools, but decided to try it due to the fact I own a few other milwaukee tools and every single one is smash hit. First time I used it I put on a 5.0 battery and trimmed thick branches And light branches for a few hours and barely used one battery bar. I’m extremely impressed and the ease of just putting in a battery and going, it makes this the go to trimmer. No more searching for two stroke fuel or having to mix, or purchase more. Take the battery out of the impact, light or drill and trim a large size yard. I have used this multiple times and can find nothing wrong. I have a couple acres and this handles it no problem. 10/10 recommend.

I am starting my foray into battery powered lawn equipment and boy am I glad I chose Milwaukee... I already use there drills and impacts so I have this battery platform in place and the lawn equipment is of the same high caliber. This hedge trimmer looks and performs just like a gas or electric version but with none of the hassle those have. Power and cut capacity are great and the battery like is more than I could want...love this thing...buy it, you won't be sorry. Just make sure you use the 5-8 AHr batteries for full effectiveness.

So I had an older electric hedge trimmer that I was using. It was always a battle that could last way too long, so I actually dreaded when the time came to trim the bushes and hedges. Until... for Father’s Day, my wife gave me the Milwaukee battery powered hedge trimmer as a gift. It was absolutely amazing how much difference there was between my old electric trimmer, and the new Milwaukee one.
I now look forward to the task of trimming bushes and hedges. And the battery lasts way longer than I thought it would too.

I love this hedge trimmer. Have a 76-year-old friend that I garden with that is in amazing shape runs every morning. Vegan :-) we use it to trim weeds cut down cover crops and yes hedge trimming. So we named it the Horton after my friend. Small branches no problem this thing mows through everything. I am a small organic farmer so it’s going to get a work out. I also purchased the hedge trimmer for the string trimmer. You can see them in action on my YouTube channel organic clean food connection :-) go grow something worth eating

I used my clippers for the first time this fall to trim top and one side of about 130’ feet of hedge 7’ high and 5’ deep. I clipped for 2.5 hours and generated about 4 large garbage cans of densely packed clippings. The clippers cut much easier and quicker than my old corded clippers. The 3/4” tooth was great! I went through half the charge of the 9Ah battery. Unbelievable!! I had a backup 6.0 Ah battery ready to go but never used it! Great product! Hopefully the battery will last for years and not degrade too much!

I have a hedge trimmer attachment as part of a combi system on my gas line trimmer. It worked good to reach up in the air but was heavy and I would get tired trying to use it to trim smaller bushes. I was a little Skeptical of this unit but have good experience with Milwaukee tools and already had a few batteries so figured I would try it. I still haven’t had a battery wear out before I do and this thing will cut anything you can get in between the teeth. It’s not “light” but I can’t see it being any lighter with the battery.

I have several M18 tools and batteries and haven’t been disappointed yet. This is no exception. I could never go back to a corded trimmer on convenience alone, but the power and 24” range are incredible too. It made easy work of small bush limbs and even took out a few larger ones I didn’t think it would be able to handle. There is a limit where you need loppers (or I like the hackzall), but overall this has been a great purchase. I used the 5Ah battery it came with for about 15 min and it had 2 bars still when I was done.

Thoroughly happy. Never have to worry about getting, mixing & storing gasoline. Don’t need to worry about the maintenance associated with gas engines. It is much quieter & no fumes. It can cut in any orientation, which can not be said the same about my old gas hedge trimmer. Better for my health. No issues with it cutting. It has the power to cut 1/2 inch branches with no hesitation. I have kids, and usually they are inside when I trim, but this way I can hear them run up. No cord to yank on. Just annoyed I didn’t buy earlier.

They run strong and cut very well. Very light weight compared to a lot of gas powered models. Owning a home with 5 hedges I did them all in one charge and came out perfect with a 8.0 battery. Not sure if I owned a business how long they would last if I had to use them all day. I think I'd have to have a couple extra batteries charged on stand by it's a shame the batteries are just as expensive as the tool but overall a great tool for the home owner. I dont think you'll find a lighter good cutting pair. Very impressed.

My driveway has trees and bushes on both sides that make it a little tight if you have a trailer in tow. I used this hedge trimmer to take everything back a few feet and it did great! Anything thumb size and below it went through like butter. I could make it go through slightly larger stuff, but I had to work at it a bit. I was able to trim up 400-450ft on one 5.0 battery and still had a little life left at the end.
The only complaint I have is the safety disconnect. I can tell they spent some time with the design of it, and I know you can only do so much before lawyers start sweating, but I still don't like it. I would like to see some way of disabling the disconnect when needed. As I was not just trimming hedges around my house, some of it was off angle and tricky.

I had a seriously overgrown little vineyard, infested with Himalayan blackberries, which are our scourge, noxious weed here in NW Oregon. Some of the canes had gotten nearly an inch in diameter. Everything smaller, the trimmer cut through like butter but the big stuff took some “sawing” which still was not bad at all. I am extremely impressed by the power of the tool. I won’t lie, the cutter is heavy and after 4 hours, my arms were burning and the strap is not all that helpful. Still I am quite happy with purchase.

Made easy work of trimming overgrown brush in the fields. Very well balanced, and lasts for hours of hard work with the 8Ah battery. Power doesn't fade as the battery drains. Cuts through thicker branches than I thought it would.
I bought it because there was no option to use a corded trimmer in the fields - closest outlet would be 500m away, and hauling a noisy generator out there would be a pain.
I've owned this for a week, and my old Stihl corded trimmer is now obsolete. This one is so much easier to use.

I got tired of dragging the cords every time I needed to trim the hedges. I own numerous other M18 products and have never had any issue with any of them so I had no issues with buying the hedge trimmer. As with every other Milwaukee product I own it works great powerful plenty of battery plenty of muscle.
The machinne plows through half inch thick branches with ease. the only suggestion I have would be to widen the guides for the teeth to allow a little bit bigger branches to get into the cutting teeth easier.

As others have noted, this attachment is heavy. I bought this mainly to trim tall hedges and using the tool in a vertical orientation is not easy for long periods of time. Using this for horizontal applications is very easy. The effectiveness of the tool is very good as far as the cutting/trimming action. It cuts through .75” diameter hedges/branches with relative ease. Overall the usual high quality of Milwaukee, but definitely on the heavy side if you are trying to do any vertical or overhead trimming.

I am Milwaukee Brand to the core! My Dad, Uncles, and Myself all being from Wisconsin originally, have all used Milwaukee Tools for years and years! Even my Mom loves her Milwaukee Drill. I cut about 120’ of hedge with it on a 5.0 battery and still had 3 bars left. I cut the other 100’ of hedge with gas stihl bg56 for a good comparison. It did a great job but, much slower than gas or corded. So when you are cutting sides you have to slow down and makes them feel heavy. With gas im moving faster swinging up and down , so less fatigue when cutting so much. Weight feels about the same as my stihl bg 56 or my corded stihl fse 70. If you have less to trim you’ll love these. they are quiet also.
