My favorite feature is the removable plastic pieces. There is a clear piece that keeps the annoying strands from coming up and getting in the way. The best thing about the clear piece is that it casts a shadow on the workpiece that you can use guide the blade. Being ahead of the blade, the shadow guide allows fore a nicer cut and makes the saw easier to use all at the same time. The basics are great (coming from someone who doesn't use it everyday) so things like power, battery, and bevel are great. Speaking of bevel the dewalt xr jigsaw has a slippy bevel and I got tired of cutting angles on accident and that is why I upgraded to the m18 FUEL.

This jig saw works great. It replaces an other brands corded one. Like the light for the blade, that helps a lot. There is a spring inside the blade holder to push the old one out. Make sure you push hard to put one in or it goes in crooked. Variable speed trigger is good. A bit fussy at low speeds. Most of my cutting is on sheet metal so slow is better. Once you get used to it though it works fine. It comes with clear plastic blade guards. Not sure why, they don't stay on, lost mine in the first day. Like all jig saws if you want a precision cut you will need a different saw, this is a jig saw so the blade will flop around.

Very reliable with impressive power!!

This is the second Milwaukee power tool I've purchased within a year, the first being a drill/driver. It replaced a corded jigsaw of a different brand that I'd had for 25 years. I have been really impressed with this saw! The freedom of not having to drag a power cord all over the place is so awesome and with little to no sacrifice of cutting power...holy cow! Blade changing couldn't be easier since it uses T-shank style blades. I do wish it would have come with an edge-guide attachment. At least the sole plate has the slots and threaded holes to accept an aftermarket guide. Lighting is excellent. Overall I am very happy with it.

So far used to cut various pieces of wood for Adirondack chair, worked perfectly!! It’s got some weight to it but I like that, I feel I have more control over a weighty tool than flimsy lightweight item. It glides nicely over wood with or without the protector in it. The splinter guard is a nice touch but I removed it so I could see better as the light through it casts an odd shadow that put me offline the first time I used it. The blower function is nice, either forward or back depending on your preference and coupled with the vacuum extraction system it keeps the area clean and tidy. I haven’t tried any angled cuts yet but the action in the machine is nice.

I'm glad my old jigsaw broke mid-project

Excellent tool to have. I now have most of the M18 system and I have not been disappointed in any of the tools. The jigsaw is well designed and comfortable to use. The base gives you the confidence that you will not mar the surface of cabinets, changing blades is user friendly, and it is compact enough to carry around in my packout drawers to keep me mobile. I purchased this tool because my corded Dewalt jigsaw would not release a blade (on the last day of a bathroom remodel!!!). As angry as I was at the time for delaying the project, I am ultimately happy that it forced my hand to upgrade to a cordless jigsaw.

I bought this saw because the electrical outlets were too time consuming to locate an available one and too far away from the area I was permitted to cut in. The variable speed and the instant torque is much better than my corded saw. I would recommend this jig saw to anyone. Was cutting plastic sheets with a milwaulkee blade and they were smooth precise cuts that didn't require any finishing after the cut. Saved me hours from what I had to go through on the day before the purchase. Paid for itself the first week I used it. Time is money and the return on investment continues with each subsequent project. Great saw.

Works Great with the right blade

The first time I used this jigsaw I was very upset because I could not get the blade to go in straight. I tried over and over again, I looked online, and it said that I wasn’t inserting it far enough, but that was not the problem. The real problem is I failed to read the instructions and was using a blade with a “U” cut on the top instead of the T-shaped blade that is required for the saw. Once I removed the U-shaped blade and put in the T shaped blade it cut fabulous it works great. The light is usefu,l the little plastic piece to help prevent sputtering works amazing. The slip shoe worked flawlessly, and I like the way the Allen key is concealed in the back of the tool.

I recently bought this jigsaw to replace my existing corded tool. As a contractor, having all cordless tools makes life so much easier. I could not be happier about that decision. It's an absolute beast, and probably the most useful tool I have..right next to the cordless multi-tool. Pros- Very powerful Lasts forever on a 1.5ah battery (I like to keep tools light weight) Ergonomic Easy to use and swap blades Con- And it would be a stretch to say its actually a con. The plastic piece at the bottom has to be removed in order to make angled cuts. It's small and will probably get lost at some point.
