I would definitely tell my friends to buy this
4 years ago
I had a freak wind storm (read micro burst) tear through my neighborhood and knock down or shatter every tree it could find. I rushed to buy a chainsaw and decided to go with Milwaukee as I'm a big fan of their other tool and battery line. I used this Chainsaw to help remove whole 40' trees from my neighbors yards and smashed car ports. I was one of many folks with chainsaws helping, but I was the only non-gas saw. I was keeping up just fine with the speed and quantity of cuts the others were making. The saw had more than enough power and cut through some pretty stressed cuts.
10 out of 10 I would tell my family and friends to buy this saw.

Fast cutting wonder

Use it for dropping trees.and blocking a few cords for farmhouse. Works better than the gas 45cc.for.dropping, just a bigger bar would be better for the larger trees. Blocking is fast, but hard on batteries when blocking trees over 12inch. Will power through wood faster than the chain, and I like the chain in it.
Milwaukee needs to release the MXFuel battery version for chainsaws, with 20" bar.
Just watch your oil, since ou can go through it before the battery does, whereas gas chainsaws typically go through a tank of oil and gas at the time.
Couldn't get pictures uploaded, had some ones for proof of blocking and piles or small wood.

Great little saw.

I used the saw to cut some poplar logs 18-20 inches across. The battery dies after about a half hour of cutting. I would say that for anyone looking to cut firewood with this saw you need at least 2, HD 12 battery's probably 3 because of the insanely long charging time. Do not use the xc battery's they will overheat instantly and you'll end up ruining your battery's . For people just looking for a saw to use on occasion this is the best thing since sliced bread; you don't have to mix gas, or worry about it going bad, and there's no risk of flooding it. Overall I would say that it's an amazing saw. I just wish the battery's lasted a bit longer.

Used it for first time to cut up a lot of cedar. Seems good to make a cur set saw down and not have it idling vibrating around or restarting it too. The chain cut width is narrower than normal but it cut fast and well. I was running a 9 ah battery in it not the 12 ah one, but it lasted quite long. Bar oil I'm guessing last about as long as a battery , will find out the 12 ah battery. The bar tool stowed underneath the saw is handy but a pain to get it out, I tightened the chain after a little use. Which was really easy to tighten took longer to get tool out of saw. Saw has good power for bucking logs or just limbing trees, a real good purchase.

Thinking of Carving???
This is really a great tool to notch logs for log cabin (12 inch +/-). Need to add oil to ensure chain stays lubed, as other users have advised. I add oil when the battery reaches .5 +/-. Cuts a number of cuts, used it for so notches so far, so it is hard to convey how much cutting and plaining occurs, but I do know that it works considerably longer than a full tank on the gas one, and is more maneuverable. Although I should probably not use this tool for what I am doing, when using a chainsaw for carving, this is a top performer. I look forward to summer so I can try different bar lengths to accomplish goals.
Nothing like good chainsaw carpentry

Great for firewood
Super quiet and great for cutting logs to firewood length .
I personally did not like it for removing small branches from the logs as it seemed to bind up a lot with the small stuff that my big saw has no issues with . But once the felled tree is limbed the Milwaukee saw does a great job of cutting it all to length. It cuts extremely fast and comes razor sharp .
The only improvement I would make would be to put a slight wider cutting chain on that would hopefully prevent the binding . But i can see why they went with the one they did .
I would absolutely buy again though And if I can only have one saw this would be the one I would grab .

M18 Fuel Chainsaw

I used this saw to cut up a small tree and some limbs blown down in recent storms. I also used it at a friend's house to do some trimming. I really like using this saw. It's convenient, no noise, no starting problems etc. It has plenty of power and run time, too. I've used gasoline powered chain saws for years, and I'm still impressed with this saw. I let my friend borrow it for about a week, and he said, "I want one of these". I know it costs more than a gas saw of similar power, but it's really handy, especially if you don't want to disturb the neighbors. Plus I'm getting older, and don't want to pull start every time I'm cutting wood. Great saw.

GREAT DIY Chainsaw
I bought this chainsaw because I have had very good experiences with Milwaukee tools and I already had M18 batteries and chargers. Great saw. It took down a 10 inch diameter tree with no problem at all. This tool has great balance and super easy operation. Two things to know: 1) It doesn't come with chain oil and 2) it does come with a chain tightening wrench. For my fellow DIY'ers, watch a YouTube video or two on how to judge if the chain is tight enough and then how to make the simple adjustment if needed. My chain did not need tightening straight out of the box, but for safety sake, you should verify. This is a great saw and I would buy again.
