M18 18 V Lithium-Ion Cordless Compact Heat Gun - Tool Only

Last winter I was unable to access my tools since my puck locks froze up. Going to a job and having your equipment locked up is no fun, thankfully I got one of the locks open but I had to move a lot of stuff out to get to my items that were closer to my other door with the froze lock. Not wanting to do risk having both of my locks freeze up and not accessing my tool I used this heat gun. This year the same thing happened where it got so cold the locks where inoperable. I applied heat for 15-20 seconds and thankfully it worked. I plan on keeping this nearby for the winter time, especially in the event that my pipes freeze up

We probably have a hundred Milwaukee tools at work so I was excited when this heat gun came out. It should've been super convenient compared to a corded one for heat shrink connectors, which is 90% of what I use it for. With the optional attachments it barely gets the job done and without them, forget about it. If I need to heat more than 2 connectors I'll save time by grabbing the corded one. I was really disappointed in this product, I fully agree with all the other 1 star reviews. I personally own a yellow 20v heat gun and it blows this one away. I don't care if it would eat batteries as long as it worked.

Most of these reviews complain about battery life. For me that’s a non-issue. If you have a basic understanding of batteries and how much power a heat gun pulls, it’s on par. Comparing it to a plug in 120v hair dryer is a uneducated comparison. My issue is that it doesn’t have adjustable heat settings and a positive lock on the trigger. For the price it should come with a reducer too. Hopefully Milwaukee is listening to all these bad reviews, which I failed to read before purchasing. First time I’ve been let down by Milwaukee cordless tools. Jacob, no need to reply. You guys have to have gotten the point by now.

We love Milwaukee, our work trucks are outfitted with drills, impacts, screwguns, lights, saws that are all part of the M18 system. This tool does not live up to the Milwaukee brand and standard that we are accustomed to. It simply does not compare to corded counterparts. If it were a suitable heat gun, there would be several features missing from this tool that would also keep it from living up to the Milwaukee standard. There is no hip/pocket hook that is on every other drill, impact and gun we own. There also needs to be a method to lock this tool on rather then having to hold the trigger in when using it.

This product does not live up to what is advertised. Tried to heat up some heat shrink for 500 MCM crimps would not even make it soft. This is not a review towards the rest of milwaukees products. I am a huge Milwaukee fan and all the power tools and hand tools are Milwaukee. But this item doesn’t live up to the Milwaukee name. I’m am super disappointed in this item as I thought I would be able to heat heat shrink for cable connections without having to get my map gas torch out. Like I said this is not a review to bash Milwaukee just a review to lest people know that if they plan on using this item to heat, heat shrink connections for electrical use that it wil not do the job.

I purchased the tool only version because I don't need another charger lying around. I love that it Heats up quickly and is so convenient. Bought for heat shrink Items for quick professional looking water tight repairs. I wish it came with the heat shields when you purchase tool only, the shields are really the most important part of any heat gun and direct the heat exactly where you need it While shielding what you don't want to melt so I bought shields separately bringing the cost more in line with the model with the battery charger, something to consider when you make the choice!

The M18 Heat Gun does exactly what it is intended for, however, I would like to see some of the additional features you come to expect with Milwaukee. It would be nice if you could adjust the overall heat output (more or less for large and small heat shrinks) or if there was an adjustable aperture built into gun to control flow. I know there are additional attachments you can purchase to give broader abilities, but its nice when I don't have to carry excess material onto a site. Overall I would recommend, it gets the job done and fits in great with all my other Milwaukee tools.

Huge Milwaukee fan. To the point where I've swapped out all my other cordless tools and wrenches. So like someone stated earlier this is not a knock on their other tool. The heat gun is a miss and will be returning. It does not heat up enough for solder seal connectors. Shrink tube melted fine but low temp solder ring in the center did not. I attempted 4x and same result. Went through a fully charged XC5.0 battery attempting to get this to work. Battery drained quickly. Stronger heat is required along with a temp control. If it's improved I'll definitely give this another shot.
