Love it but

I love M-18 hedge trimmer bought the M-12 for my smaller hedges and it’s compact versatility however I was very disappointed when it refused to cut some branches that were just too big to fit into the slots to trim which I didn’t think were too big but I think the slides are too small and should be able to cut a little bigger branch to finish the job I had to go back and get M-18 I was disappointed that my My new M-12 hedge trimmer couldn’t however for the right application I absolutely love it unfortunately most of the bushes at my house or not the right application. For the straggler pieces that grow out of your well manicured bush it’s perfect

For gardeners, but not professionals

Works well, the blade has protection so you can't try cutting a branch that might be too big. HOWEVER the trimmer runs too slow, results in sometimes having to make 3-4 more passes to cut a section. Also if you have thought of cutting little cedar bushes, you might be better with another tool than this one. It struggles alot. On the other hand if you want to cut little bushes, plants, perrenials, anything with leaves 3/8 or smaller, as long as you are patient, you will be happy with it. Battery life is good, too. For commercial use I would avoid as the cutting speed is too slow.

More useful than i had expected
I have dozens of cedars that I prune a natural shape at about 8 to 10 feet tall. I used to use a 24 in trimmer but i found that too heavy. The M2 8 in trimmer was much more effective. Light enough to be used (safely) with one hand and the 8 inch bar is great for the curved shapes. I also used it for spring clean up of all my perennials such as phlox that have sturdy stems. Again the one hand control while i use the other hand to hold on to the stems is ideals. Powerful enough to cut anything that fits into the teeth such as lilac suckers, or loading the entire bar with a large bunch of pompas grass... (the space between the teeth is 5/16 so the stated capacity is not realistic) Runs for a surprisingly long time on 3 or 4 AH batteries. Love it.

Very good. See comment on trigger release

Convenient tool for "sculpting' bushes and hedges. Somewhat quicker than hand shears and about as accurate ( I alternated arbor vitae in my circle) Weight is not bad and balance good. I dislike the safety release for the trigger- fatiguing and limits positions I can use ( bad shoulder). I disabled the release easily with a spacer and tape ( suspect that manufacturer knew people like me would try and made it easy) , but of course now have to be extra careful. I use the cover sheath a lot. Battery life excellent.

My first disappointment in Milwaukee products
2 years ago
Trimmer has the quality I’ve come to expect from Milwaukee. I have the full size Milwaukee trimmer, the problem with this unit is The gap between the teeth on the cutting bar isn’t open enough. When trimming tender growth the blades simply push the foliage over instead of cutting. It does work well on woody plants.
I have countless Milwaukee tools I use professionally and at home. This is my first disappointment. It’s not a quality issue, just needs a better blade design

I love my Milwaukee 8" trimmer
This trimmer is a powerful, lightweight tool which allows for the user to perform the best job you can on your landscape plants. It is very easy to get in much tighter areas because if its small size where larger trimmers can't but doesn't lack the power to complete the task. It is especially good at trimming the bottom of plants where branches are so close to the ground or a once over on missed branches after using the larger trimmer. I love this trimmer.

I have used the 24” trimmer for a couple of years. I always said I would buy a small hand trimmer if Milwaukee came out with one. Well as soon ad I heard that the 8” trimmer was available i jumped one one. I have been using the 8” for three weeks now. It is s great trimmer. easy to use, ease to sculpt bushes. Im getting abbot an hour of run time with the battery that came with it the tool. i highly recommend this trimmer.

Nice Compliment to the M18
I have the full-size M18 Hedge Trimmers, and the Quik-Lok Hedge Trimmers, while this M12 won't replace either of them, it does compliment them nicely.. The M12 is very lightweight while at the same time, built Milwaukee tough.. Plenty of power, if it fits in the teeth it's getting cut.. Battery life with the 4.0 is great.. If you're on the fence, get it you'll be glad you did.!
