If your working on equipment in or out of the shop this tool is just as good as any air powered die grinder minus the hose. The tool is a little big with the XC batteries but makes up for it with its versatility. I made the switch to Milwaukee tools years ago and it was the best money making decision I had because the tools always work! I just wish Milwaukee tools would start making kitchen appliances for the wife.

I do light DIY stuff, but a lot of it requires flap discs for removing old finishes. I bought this M12 angle grinder (and its straight counterpart) to supplement the air powered one I already own because I hate the noise of an air compressor. Since purchase, I haven't even turned on the air compressor- they are that good! Only time I need the air powered set is when space a really tight- the M12 is a bit bulkier.

Great grinder for small spaces. Had to change waterlines in a cabinet and was able to cut the metal pex rings without having to take the top off the cabinet. Used the ceramic blade for cutting tiles and again is great. Used the fiber blade and guide to cut drywall, works great. My husband has the 18M grinder and it’s very heavy compared to the 12M grinder; the18M is a two handed tool, the 12M is a one handed tool.

This die grinder is more powerful than any pneumatic grinder that I've ever used and there is no hose. It's compact and light. The max RPM settings make things a lot easier too. It does run through batteries pretty quickly if you are applying a lot of force on your substrate, but if you apply light force so that you maintain high RPM and allow the grinder / abrasive to do the work, the batteries last a lot longer.

I just bought this tool to replace my old air one that is worn out, I have replaced all of my air tools with Milwaukee tools and have never once regretted the decision until I bought this.
Under the smallest load it stalls out, and absolutely drains batteries. My other tools will last weeks or heavy use without needing charged, and with this one I cant accomplish 2 minutes of work without needing a new battery

Finally a lithium powered die grinder!

I've been waiting for a replacement for my air powered die grinder. Although not as svelte as it's air counterpart the M12 FUEL 1/4" Right Angle Die Grinder is awesome! With 4 RPM ranges and linear control in each range there is a RPM and power level for anything you might need. Typical M12 long battery life is excellent. The LED light facing forward from the back of the trigger housing is a nice touch as well.

Unmatched power without the hassle

Love this product has much more power than my air powered angle grinder with out all the noise and air hose. I can comfortably remove silicone and gunk from parts without ear pro all day on the lower settings without fear of gouging metal and cut or grind metal like butter with a hot knife on higher settings. The price point was high and it was a hard pill to swallow but I couldn't say that it wasn't worth it!

Great little tool.
Very handy. Two downsides for me are that the tool is a m12, so it lacks power a lot when cutting. Like, do not buy this to cut.
Other major problem I see is that the collar is wayyyyy to thight. Each time I put a mandrel, I need to tear the whole collar appart cause loose the lock nut just won‘t do it. I’ve probably put more time trying to remove the bits than doing actual work with it.

The M12 right angle die grinder is an awesome tool when I heard it was coming out I couldn’t wait to get it. I’m a contractor and sometimes I would leave it on the job site and not have it in the shop. I bought a second one to make sure it was always there when I need it. I use it all the time probably second to a drill. It’s the perfect size plenty of power very well-made. Very satisfied with the purchase !

I bought this to supplement my Milwaukee rotary tool that I've had for guite a while (several years). I was hoping that this would be a nice go between the rotary tool and an air tool. Its just a bit under powered for what i was expecting.
But maybe i got my hopes up too much for a 12 volt tool.
It eats a 6.0 battery pretty quick. Can you guys make a bigger battery?
All-in-all im not going to take it back.

Great tool to do most jobs.... when it works. Constantly shuts off with or without a load, double checked battery strength, fresh 6amh battery, regardless it still shuts off with it without load.
I own t dozens of Milwaukee M 12 and M 18 tools first time I’ve been disappointed with what other products. I hope there is a fix for this soon. I really love the concept of having this versatile cordless tool.

Endless but limited possibilities

So far the tool has come in very handy out in the field and in an industrial setting. Not worrying about if an air hose can reach or an extension cord can reach makes things a lot quicker. The standard battery under normal light constant use runs out fairly quick but I've never had an actual "oh no" moment for draining a battery. Cleaned up six, two foot pipe flanges for a job in the field and still had two cells left on a normal battery using light pressure. Using any type of pressure really kills the battery faster, but with the high capacity battery that's not an issue.
In your hand its light, comfortable and easy to use and guide. The selectable speed helps alot depending on what grit and surface your working with.
I would recommend this tool to anyone needing a portable angle die grinder, and recommend the high capacity batteries to anyone doing a lot of work with it.

Did a review for this product before but with my continued use, have lowered my rating from a 2 star to 1 star. It is my second one; the first I thought was defective. Grinder cuts out frequently. Don’t believe me? Buy it and see for yourself. I love and own many Milwaukee tools but this one is a dud. Gets hot and cuts out. Even brought a larger battery which just allows it to cut off and on longer.

great tool straight m12 die grinder

very handy not having a hose or cord attached to it.first job was to polish up a 4" male cam lock fitting to make it round enough to fit new cap. worked great first 6.0 battery lasted 15-20 min. with a 3' flapper wheel. like the battery indicator and the variable speed. some day a tool less collet will be a nice improvement. two other guys in the shop have now purchased there own after using this one.

I'm on my 2nd one of these and it does the same thing the first one did. Any time any little bit of pressure that's put on the wheel while for example stripping automotive paint or getting rid of rust the grinder shuts off. This is very annoying and is slowing my work down. With that being said everything this is said to be and what it does isn't accurate. I'm uploading a video showing so you can see

Good product, just lacking torque

The die grinder works fine. I was a little disappointed at how easily it power out when working it hard on a cut off wheel. But I am used to using a 120V angel grinder to do most of my cutting, so maybe my expectations were just a little too high? It does what I need it to do, just not as fast as I had hoped. It would have been nice if there was a m18 version, but it wouldn't fit in places as nicely.

It will stop rotating, if you don't let it get up to speed, as other reviewers mentioned but it isn't a game changer for me. I decided to purchase this as I am restoring a vehicle and didn't want to purchase an air compressor large enogh to run an air die grinder. Since I already had a M12 charger, I do recommend buying just the tool then looking for a deal on a pair of higher capacity batteries.

This item did not meet up to my expectations. It would not maintain an even speed even with a fully charged battery. It seemed like the motor wasn’t up to the task, would start out strong for a few seconds, and then lug down before it even had any resistance against it. My Harbor Freight pneumatic die grinder is much better, just not as convenient as an electric one would be if it worked properly.

I use this little guy / loan it out almost every day and it is awesome! Beats the heck outta trying to find and air hose and hook up and drag it all the way to the job. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it will shut down during operation if you hit something a little too hard. Or if you're on the trigger for too long. Otherwise it's great and definitely worth the money so far.

I have recently switched all my air and previous battery operated tools to Milwaukee. The m12 right angle grinder is one of the most used tools in that purchase. I am a John Deere combine technician and use it almost every day to de burr and polish bearing mating surfaced. It has more power than my air angle grinder. It does like to use up the battery quickly unless I use my higher AH batteries.

This really is an awesome little grinder, with amazing battery life. We use it in a railroad environment when welding wires onto the rail. The ONLY problem, is that when we're grinding/sanding, it keeps shutting off after about 30-40 seconds and then we have to release the trigger to restart it. What a pain. Otherwise it works great, lightweight, fits in one of the Milwaukee canvas zipper bags.

I had to return the first one after two weeks. Speed wouldn't change and when you're sanding with it the tool would just turn off. I know you can't put pressure on the machine or it will turn off on its own. But I would have a small sanding wheel on it and you could get 30 40 secs of good sanding but it then just turn off. I never covered the motors cooling vents either. I picked up the replacement and it changes speed... what a difference. Cut roughly 12feet of thin steel sanded a bunch of sheet metal. Much happier with this tool. Wish the company I purchased it from helped right away. Took two three days for them to agree and I didn't even have the tool for a month. I have a fair amount of m12 and m18 tools and want more but I was going to get rid of them all if I didn't get help. I'd give it a two star because the first tool failed but the replacement was much better so a 4 is fair I feel.

Have used all four speed modes for various applications so far. It does consume battery power quite well. Ran it for about 1/2 hour on and off with roloc buffing wheel and ran the 4.0 out. Wouldn't recommend for cutting with abrasive disc as it's easy to overload it and trip the thermal protection on it. Minimal grinding would be ok. Milwaukee makes other tools better suited for cutting.

Comfortable and light weight , unfortunately it stalls out too easily like their straight die grinder ( even with the 6.0Ah battery on high). Ive had a Lot of bad experiences with Milwaukee tools since Covid ( their quality tanked ). Half my tools started having issues 2 months after purchasing and getting them fixed properly and in a timely manner is a major issue with Milwaukee in Alberta.

I am a mechanic and use my air die grinder daily, I own alot of M18 and M12 tools and love them but not this one. Grinder keeps stopping for no reason, change battery to brand new one and it stops every 20 seconds or less, returned for a new one and did the same thing, I will stick with my air grinder, it a shame as this would have been a very handy tool if it worked, dont waste your money.

I love this thing, it is really handy when I don't want to drag an air hose around, the only thing I wish it could do is be able to use a cutoff wheel, when it feels resistance it just shuts down but it is great for grinding. The only other thing I wish was different was that the handle is a little bit bulky but isn't too big of deal. All around great product like everything else they make

This is probably one of my all-time favorite tools! It's very versatile and gives me a lot more finesse than a comparable air tool would. It is just incredibly useful for me in the metal working/auto body field. My only real complaint with it is it will shut off if you try to hog into something... it should be able to compensate for that but it's not a big deal once you get used to it.

As powerful as pneumatic die grinder, maybe more. M12 battery makes tool is light weight and easy to use. Pros, no hose or compressor running. Plenty of power. Adjustability of accessory being used as well as ability to vary the speed with the trigger. Cons, like the LED light however it is easy to cover it if wearing gloves. Using 2 hands covers the air vents. Best use for flat surfaces.

Solid performing cordless angle die grinder

Great cordless angle die grinder. Thank goodness no more air hoses or waiting for the compressor to catch up. Would have been 5 star if tool was variable speed and not speed selection but nice that there is some speed control. Battery performs a decent period. Obviously the larger the battery the longer the run time. I just find it very convenient to be able to slap in a battery and go.
