Tool is dead now. I wanted a cordless ratchet for a while, did my research and settled on this M12 ratchet based on lots of reviews and Milwaukee's reputation. I am in the Dewalt ecosystem but wanted to try this M12 ratchet. I've had it for not more than 2 years, and have little use on it. Definitely not a heavily used tool for sure. Not sure what's wrong with it but now all I get is flashing red LEDs. I thought the battery was dead so I put the batt on the charger and it lights up green saying the battery is full. I put the battery in the tool and all I get is a chirp from the tool and all flashing red LEDs. Repeat and same issue. Battery is measuring a full 12V across the contract leads too, so it appears to be charged but the tool thinks it's dead or something. Who knows.

It works good for my home use. It's great for accessible bolts. Has a decent amount of torque. Expect to bang it up loose the perry look. I haven't dropped it yet and I'm not going to try to either. It might handle a few falls or it might handle more hard to say nothing to compare it to.
Tool is affordable. I'd pick the smaller battery next time... would fit better in tighter spots.
I think it will last me years.
I'll update my review if anything changes.
Thanks for a good handy tool!

No way it’s 35ft lb of torque! What gives!!
Just tried out my new m12 3/8 ratchet. Well it has zero torque. I can hold the ratchet from moving. I have to use a normal hand held ratchet to brake a small 10mm bolt lose then switch over to the m12 to loosen it the rest. Unless I’m supposed to use the power ratchet like a power less first brake the bolt lose by hand then push push the power handle to remove the rest. The m18 1/2 has tons of torque I can snap off bolt if not careful. So is my m12 3/8 defective or I’m I just not using in correctly?

Great for Hard-to-Reach Areas
I needed a tool for disassembly of my truck's cabin air intake. There were a few small nuts that were under the dash - not directly visible and limited swing for a traditional ratchet. Using this tool with the right extension length made is possible to remove the cabin air motor/fan and clean the system.
Although I only needed a 1/4" drive for this project, the 3/8" capability will prove more flexible in the future. I could have selected the M18 version with more torque, but the smaller size of this model is what I was needed to reach the tight areas, lighter for my awkward upside down position on this project, and I already have a variety of M12 tools and batteries. I also like the paddle trigger so I could have one hand to blindly guide the socket and the other hand to hold the weight and run the motor.

M12™ Cordless 3/8" Ratchet

To me I believe that Milwaukee makes some real quality power tools. I bought this over the high speed or the 55 ftlb torque ratchet because of its size it’s more compact and the head is not as beefy as the other 2, l mentioned. In my honest opinion you can’t go wrong with this ratchet as long as you understand it limitations which is 250 rpm’s as 35 ftlbs of torque. Im my opinion when it comes to cordless mechanic power tools, Milwaukee is very hard to beat.

Makes life easier

Bought as part of a M12 combo pack with a few other tools for use around the house, but mostly working on my vehicle. Specifically wanted the M12 family to fit into tight spaces, which it does with ease while still providing enough torque to break most light duty fasteners loose. I'll be upgrading to the Fuel version at some point to get a bit more power out of it, but this sure does take a lot of pain out of removing long fasteners.

Very Handy Tool

The M12 cordless ratchet makes quick work of removing and installing long fasteners. The drive end mechanism is a little wobbly as though it was a bit off-center, but this does not detract from its utility. It works okay as a manual ratchet, however a bit unwieldy due to the large handle. The spot light does a nice job of illuminating the fastener. The compact Li-Ion battery charges quickly and seems to have good endurance.
ProsEasy To Use

IDK what to say, it broke
As a homeowner mechanic, I don’t use this tool much. As a matter of fact, I bought this about 6 months ago and haven’t used 2 full batteries yet. While working on my wife’s Honda Civic, this thing broke when trying to loosen a bolt. I am a 51 year old man, 6 foot and only 180 lbs, therefore I don’t have an unreasonable amount of strength. Yet I managed to break the head.
I am still a Milwaukee guy, just not this tool.

Perfect for car repair where space is limited.
I used this tool to do an intake manifold job on a 240SX which is quite a task. This tool made the whole job a breeze since there is no manual cranking required. This does not have a whole lot of power, but it is perfect for jobs like that since you can break the bolt loose using the ratchet and drive it out with a click of a button. Great tool for where smaller fasteners are used high torque is not required.

An absolute gem!
At first I wasn’t sure if I would actually need this tool. (Got it as a free add on) but then I had to swap out the starter and alternator on a 21 year old truck, and let me tell you. This ratchet couldn’t have found a home in my bag at a better time because it made a very tedious starter replacement a lot more manageable with about 7” bolts. Now I don’t think I could work without this amazing tool.

Been wanting one of these
I received this for Christmas from my son. I have long admired these when I see them in YouTube videos of car repairs. I have several socket sets and various ratchets, but it always seemed like squeezing a trigger and having the tool do the spinning would be more efficient and fun. I use many brands of battery operated tools at my job, Milwaukee stands alone in my opinion when compared to others.

5 stars because it is a Great Tool!

Great tool for removing fasteners in tight spaces. The head is smaller than on most and the speed and torque are just right. Too much and you risk shearing off the ends of your torx bits, too little and you are lacking efficiency and capability but this tool is just right for instrument panel, console, door trim, liners, etc when gaining access to diagnose a problem or replace a component.

Good power for a small 12V tool!!
This cordless ratchet wrench is perfect for doing fastening/loosening in hard to reach or right places. The tool produces up to 35 ft/lbs of torque and 250 RPMs which gives you the power and speed of a pneumatic ratchet but without the hose and compressor. The tool is very compact at 10 3/4" long and weighs only 1.9 lbs making it very easy to work with. The metal trigger is variable speed which allows for you to have greater control of the work you are doing. The tool has an on board battery garage and also a LED light.
I am not an auto mechanic but a general contractor and this ratchet has come in handy on many occasions. I have adapters for 1/4" and 1/2" sockets so this is my go to tool for ratcheting applications in tighter work spaces. Easy to use and super light weight, fits easily into my tool belt pouch. It has the right amount of torque so it doesn't over fasten. Great compact tool!!

Incredible worksaver, if only the switch would turn easier!
I have major arthritus, so this is a lifesaver for me. Saves me so much ratcheting! Battery lasts a really long time between charges. Only wish that the direction switch would turn without the need for pliers. Even after cleaning and lubricating, it is notchy and requires pliers to turn. Curious if I have a bad one, or if other people have had similar experience and if there is a solution??

M12 cordless ratchet
I work in a ATV, motorcycle shop and require the use of an air ratchet a lot. I purchased the Milwaukee cordless 3/8 ratchet because one another mechanic in the shop has been using one now for a year without any issues at all. I really like not having to drag the air hose around. Not as strong as the air ratchet but you know that so choose your spots. Now I use the cordless 90% of the time.

M12 3/8 Ratchet

I love it. Its powerful enough to remove some fasteners, but not so strong that it breaks your wrist while tightening or loosening fasteners. I've used it every day for the past 2 weeks and its holding up great. The light is bright as well. Very impressed. Will be getting bigger batteries. The batteries last 1-2 days for me depending on how much work I'm doing with it, which is plenty

Great tool but be aware.....
Great tool but be careful.... when backing out a bolt in tight quarters. The tool moves back slowly as the bolt reverses out and contacts another engine part, such as frame and tool is then stuck. The reverse/forward key on the back of the ratchet is pinned and can only be turned to loosen tool with a tiny screwdriver or pick. Just be situationally aware in tight areas.

The head continues to strip out
I have two of these and I have had to replace the anvil assembly on both ratchets out of my own pocket. This was due to the serial number being unreadable on these ratchets. I like the design and how long it holds a charge but the head continues to get stripped out. The anvil kits are poorly made as well. The snap ring seems to come loose and then the ratchet free spins.

Eh. Its fine
Underwhelming. It is nice to use, but it would be nice if the directional switch was changeable from the handle. It seems like that’s the biggest downfall. The switch is recessed in the head and not too easy to access. Power is obviously low, but speed is fine, although I was let down. Clearly faster that a normal ratchet, but not as much as a game changer as I hoped

Fantastic tool, a must have for any fitter

Honestly one of my favorite pieces, it makes doing up those hose clamps in difficult areas extremely easy. Great amount of grunt for such a small piece, absolutely love it.
Small design change suggestion: the trigger lock out switch is difficult to switch between lock/unlock as it's so small I often have to use a screw driver to unlock it.

It gets the job done much quicker!!
The cordless ratchet really helps with speeding up jobs. The rated RPM of the tool is 250, but has been tested and gone over that rating. For such a high speed, the torque it produces is actually quite surprising. I didn't expect so much torque and speed. If you start a bolt sideways, it has no problem cross threading it, and it can snug bolts up tight too.
Pros: Balanced well, M12 battery lineup, small ratchet head, variable trigger is precise, very fast RPM!
Cons: LED Light shines at the socket, not in the direction of a bolt. Battery release is funky, but I can get used to it. Direction selector on ratchet head is small and sometimes hard to grab ahold of to switch directions, even tougher with gloves.
I really like the tool, but if I bought a second, it would defiantly be the Fuel/brushless version because its not much more money and offers about double the torque.
Overall, I see this tool as a big bonus for efficiency and I am happy I bought it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

If you're looking for a high-RPM tool move on. With other M12 tools turning at up to 3,000 RPM, you'll immediately notice what "max 250 RPM unloaded" means. It gets in tight places, is very controllable and makes you want to skip using manual ratchets from now on. Keep it, and the 1/4" adapter ready for ANY/ALL home projects.

Cordless ratchet

A nice little ratchet small enough to get in to tight spaces. A little slow but okay. I had a cordless ratchet but it had an integral battery and when it died you had to wait for it to charge. So I got a good deal on this ratchet from Milwaukee and it works really well, with the option to swap batteries when needed.

Pretty handy tool to have. Could be a little more powerful, but I guess that’s what the FUEL version is for. If I could make one change, it would be to have a switch for forward/reverse similar to an impact or drill. Once my hands are dirty it can be a little tricky to turn the dial to switch direction.

This a a very useful tool. Has a lock on the trigger so when you are transporting it, you can’t accidentally hit the trigger and run the battery down. It’s not as strong as my snapon but a lot lighter an small , makes it easier to get into tight places. L e d light is in the perfect stop!

Absolutely disgusted, I've had this less then a year and it just blew to piece in my face while removing a slider pin. Oh and lucky me your factory store isn't open outside of my work hours. Every power tool I own is milwaukee but I might be switching to something else now.
