Broke on the second hole!

After the first hole into concrete, I was happy and thought I’d get the job done even quicker than I’d thought. The second hole I’d attempted met too much resistance, so I chose a different spot (this part will be covered, so being exact wasn’t so important). It started out well and then, it felt too easy… because the bit snapped off in the hole! So, I didn’t even get to make a second hole in my project (I’ll need about 50) and now I have a huge mess with materials all over that can’t simply be put away. I usually love Milwaukee, but this was such a disappointment! I’d even asked the person at the hardware store if I should get the masonry bit, specifically, and he assured me that these were made for it too.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good for any construction project!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this drill bit for my partner. He used to work for construction so he knows how to use it. We both love the Milwaukee brand, because its products are good quality and they have great versatility. The package shows all the different materials that the drill works on. Also, it shows the recommended speeds for every material and the two drivers to use the drill with. When it comes to the material, it has the right amount of thick. And the performance was amazing, it did its job without messing the material.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not Exactly a “Multi-material” Drill Bit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose this bit because of the “multi-material” label. I had several projects coming up and needed a versatile bit as they were varying surface types (steel, wood, and drywall). I probably should have started with the softest, drywall, but I didn’t Straight to the steel and boy was that a mistake. I drilled four holes into the steel, barely, but the bit was near useless afterwards. It was only 1/16 inch steel so I felt pretty bad about the durability. I then went on to the wood. It made holes, but not straight or perfectly round. The steel tore the bit up so much it caused ripping rather than drilling. I didn’t dare use it for the drywall lest I destroy the area I planned to drill. Bottom line: I wouldn’t recommend for any surface harder than wood if you want to use it again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good all around bit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this bit because of its multi material capability. I was skeptical of a bit that was advertised to go through such a variety of surfaces and able to be used under an impact or hammer drill. Overall it does work well but not as good in steel as a cobalt or other high quality specialty bits. This is a good bit to have around at all times in your tool bag in case of an emergency, but I think that bits designed for a specific purpose are better at each individual task.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Blocked gutter pipe... solved!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My house has an inground pipe system for my drain gutters, unfortunately it is clogged and when it rains the water just gets stuck on my gutter pipes which causes pressured water leakings. I used this drill bit specifically to make a hole on the lower part of my gutter pipe and it worked like magic. Water comes out through that hole and no more water pressure to worry about. It was a clean cut and didn't hurt the rest of the pipe.

Yes, I recommend this product.

A better drill bit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a contractor I rely on equipment that's not "throw away". So when I recently built a pool deck it was easier to drill in the brackets on the footings we poured. There was 16 footings, and 16 holes required. The 1/2" SHOCKWAVE™ Carbide Multi-Material Drill Bit cut through the concrete like it was butter. I'm expecting to use this 1/2" SHOCKWAVE™ Carbide Multi-Material Drill Bit many more times! Nice product!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Perfect for DIY

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is a amateur DIYer and loves to do projects around the house. He has multiple drills and 2 workshops, so he likes to have duplicates of things like drill bits so he can keep them in different places. After he used this one, he determined that it was of good enough quality to keep in his kit and not just keep in a drawer as a back-up. He liked the quality and the work done by this drill bit.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great versatile bits!!

I was excited when these first came out last year and immediately put them to the test on all the different types of materials listed on the packaging. Using my Gen III hammer drill I ran these bits on several different tests. The main test for me was concrete and tile, and the bits held up very well. Great to not have separate bits for masonry, which reduces box space, great for keeping more organized!!

Yes, I recommend this product.
