Could be improved
I bought this several months ago and it has worked as expected. Although there seems to be a few things I would change. The horizontal oil fill seems not user friendly and the power steering triggers seem to short for easy access. The reverse was to slow but was fixed by dealer with a different cable.

Passed the test
I had refused to use a snowblower in the past, getting older has made it more of a necessity. So two weeks after buying we had a surprise storm dumping 6 inches of heavy wet snow.. This machine passed all my tests including the end of the driveway where they had plowed. Could not be happier.

I bought this unit about a month ago and within 3 days, I had the chance to use it. I find it is a very well built machine with quality in all aspects. It did the job perfectly and we are so pleased with the purchase. Thanks Husqvarna for another great product.

snow monster
I call it the snow monster, it's like cookie monster with snow, keep feeding it and it keeps chewing and wants more. I put it threw the ringer on the first day, ran 4 tanks fuel the first day and 2 more the next. It chewd threw 3-4ft of packed snow with ice chunks that came off the roof, bogged down a little and had to let up on drive to run rpm back up, but to be expected with what I was doing with it. If I had it earlier, I wouldn't have had to run it so hard and put it to the test but I know what it is capable of doing and should be able to run with fresher snow. Power steering is awesome as it turns on a dime and works good in tight spots. Only really bad design is fuel tank right next to exhaust, after a one tank it got pretty warm, but after two tanks it was hot to touch and was a little worried. So when the engineers fix it, send me the new updated blower, Dream on right? But my conclusion is this blows other ones outta of Blizzard in the price range, wished I would have bought one years ago, never have to shovel again.

This is a great machine.

It removed snow down to the pavement. Easy to handle and turns on a dime. The only thing I wish it had two reverse settings. The one setting the snow blower is very slow, but not a big deal.

Good So Far

So far, I'm happy with my snowblower, but had had to use it only once at this point. It is powerful and does the job well, but it's a little louder than I was expecting.

Just right for small operators
Due to a spinal injury, I recently downgraded snow blowers from a 32" 13 HP Ariens ST1332DLE to the Husqvarna 6.5 HP ST224P. I needed a blower that would not intimidate my wife. A petite woman who will now assume the snow removal duties. Hence, power/trigger steering was a requirement. But the adjustable height handle sealed the deal for my wife. Going from a 13HP to a 6.5HP was a huge drop in power and snow moving capacity. So I was under no illusions that the transition would be transparent. I fully expected to have to operate at a much slower pace and not to attempt to push the machine beyond its limits. The key point I made to my wife was that there is no pushing in snow blowing except when turning a non-powered unit. If the snow blower starts to ride up, then she needed to slow down or add a short stop to allow the blower to catch up. I tried to drill in that snow removal is quickest when you are constantly moving forward, adding pauses when needed, and using reverse only when absolutely necessary. Her first test was a March 20" semi-wet snow fall. It was then discovered that the so-called power steering was not really power steering. The trigger controls only disabled power to one of the wheels and it was up to the operator to initiate the turn. This feature did make turning easier but it was not as convenient as a true power steering system. In the end, my wife cleared a total of 4 driveways that day. She also used the ST224P to clear the 5 foot plus EOD snow pile left by the snow plows. Not bad for a 6.5HP snow blower.
