Great Saw, But Leaks Chain Oil
I have had this saw for 9 years and have cut over 100 tree down and it has done very well. I've cut tree up to 28 inches in diameter and it never missed a beat. Even when there was oil fuel (4 months old, forgot to empty tank one year and run saw until empty) in the fuel tank it started up after several pulls. My only complaint is like several others have mentioned, when leaving the saw set it leaks chain oil. If i'm going to let the saw set for more then a week I just empty the chain oil tank. Yes its a pain, but I purchased this unit at a price I could not pass up so I'm fine with it My next saw will be a larger Husky with a large bar..

This is a great saw!

I bought this saw to replace my Husqvarna 435e after purchasing my home that sits on ten acres of woodland that had been unkept for several years. I knew I would need a bigger more powerful saw to cut through the hardwood on my land. I debated a long time on this purchase trying to decide if I wanted to go with the 455 Rancher. After watching several comparison videos I decided to purchase the Rancher. I am very glad I did. This saw cold starts on the second pull every time and first pull once it is warm. It cuts through the biggest hardest trees on my lot with ease, there is no hesitation from this saw and I have no regrets from my purchase.

Bought in 2007... still running strong

I bought this saw new from a big box store from texas in 2007. Since then I have used it to cut oak, brush wildland fires in California, open roads after hurricane Irma in Florida, and many other times responding to natural disasters here in California and around the US. The first year I bout it I hated it. The thing leaked bar oil all over my garage. I didn't give up and used aviation gasket sealant to seal up the hose where it when through the housing. I have had zero leakage since and have left the saw in the trunk of my car many times with no leakage what-so-ever. Its 2018 and its finally in need of new rings, otherwise this saw is a work horse.

Great saw

I have cut about 3 cords of wood. The first cord it cut without sharpening or tightening the chain. It is a little heavy for me but not enough that it’s a bad thing. Just lay it on the log and let it do its job. After I finish cutting the first cord I tried sharpening the blade, but I’m not very good at that and he didn’t get the next cord without another sharpening or two. I took it home and cleaned the blade real good sharpened it again and I was able to cut the third cord without any more sharpening. There’s hardly any vibration in the saw. At this time I can’t say anything bad about it. It looks like it’s going to be exactly what I thought it was – a beast!

Easy Start and Great Features
I've put off buying a chain saw because of the my earlier experiences with a McCullough which was a beast to start and struggled to hold chain tension. After doing a lot of homework I bought the 455 Rancher last year to do general yard cleanup. Note: we have a 2.5 acre wooded lot in the Northeast and a typical cleanup involves bucking 3-4 30-40' trees and felling a handful of others. With 12 months experience behind me I couldn't be more pleased with the results. IT STARTS EVERY TIME on the first or second pull, is well balanced, relatively vibration free, and cuts both pines and hardwood like a hot knife through butter.

Awesome saw, cheap chain
I purchased this saw to replace my old Rancher I bought in 2008.This saw Doesn't leak Bar Oil like my last one. I bought canned 2 stroke gas/mix fuel that wasn't Husqvarna so I couldn't extend warrant.10 minutes into first tree, chain comes off bar.Bottom slides of chain all broken off.Bought a new Oregon Full Chisel chain at Menard's and cut down 16 large trees without any problems. One pull starts hot or cold. My last Rancher I tweaked the Carb. and modified muffler and ran a 24 inch bar on it for many years. This saw may be Heavy for occasion homeowners. It would be nicer if it came with a better Oregon bar/Chain combo.

Awesome saw

Have this a month now and used it dicing up 36” red oak. I’d say at least 20 hours on it. Starts every time... not like the Stihl I broke my arm on. Same chain Which is great. (I’m just getting better at keeping it away from the dirt) Sharpened once
Only issue I have - which didn’t cost a star review. Is the kill switch failed first time using it, and I had to choke it to shut down. I didn’t like that due to when you start it again, it screams! So I opened it up and found the grounding wire fell off. No problem. But! The wire is to short and would surely fall off again. So I soldered a longer wire to it, and no problem since. Regardless, it’s a great reliable saw.

It's a keeper

Just used this saw on a 40ft live black jack oak. It cut it like butter, plenty of power. It is balanced well, fired right up 2nd pull. If I had to knock this saw it would be the plastic kill switch and choke lever, everything else seem well made.
The X-cut chain really spits the wood out. I did have some kickback with it, hang on, as I hit some unseen wire in the trunk.
In my opinion this saw is for dropping large trees and breaking down the trunks, it is a heavy saw for a 60 year old....
The saw I replace was a 40 cc Echo, this saw feels a 1/3rd heavier and 2X as powerful.
I will be looking to get a smaller saw for bucking limbs and cutting firewood, but again I am 60.
