Clean your chair thoroughly
Step one: use some elbow grease!
Outdoor furniture can collect a lot of dirt from exposure to spiders, birds, mould and more. Before you start painting, it’s important to clean the surface of your chair thoroughly, ideally with a brush. Depending on the chair’s condition, you can use soap and water or a wood cleaner, especially if there is a lot of mould. Rinse with a garden hose or pressure washer (set to low). Allow the chair to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Make sure you work in an area that is out of the wind. After your Adirondack chair is painted, it will need some time to dry, and you don’t want the wind to blow any debris or dust into the paint.
Sand your chair
