- Sow vegetables indoors, according to variety.

- Acclimatise indoor seedlings for outdoor planting.
- Plant indoor seedlings outdoors, according to variety.
- Plant vegetables bought in pots in the vegetable garden or in containers.
- Gently rake the lawn after the snow has melted.
- Mow the lawn for the first time.
- Dethatch the lawn.
- Aerate the lawn every 2 or 3 years.
- Topdress the lawn.

- Plant perennials bought in pots using potting soil for flowers and flowerbeds.
- Fertilise perennials and annuals.
- Fertilise trees and shrubs.
- Prune cedar hedges.
- Take indoor plants outdoors.
- Plant herbs bought in pots or containers.
- Sow and transplant vegetables that don't like the cold.
- Check for insects and diseases.
Things to do in the garden in July
- Make sure your flowers and vegetables are getting enough water on hot days. You might need to set up sprinklers.
- Keep weeding your garden. Weeds can easily move in and compete with your plants.
- Harvest early-season vegetables like radishes, lettuce, and green onions.
- Keep an eye out for signs of pests and diseases.
- Remove wilted flowers from your annuals to encourage new blooms.
- Give your annuals a boost with water-soluble fertilizer.
- Put in stakes for climbing plants like clematis, grapevines, and honeysuckle. You may need to put netting over your berry bushes to keep the birds off them.
