I should have listened to everyone else!

Dear Dewalt, I’ve been using your tools for years and while everyone else was saying your batteries don’t charge I thought who are these inept “handymen”? Then I bought a new pack of batteries… your quality control guy needs fired, cause this —— ain’t right. I don’t want to run Red but I’m beginning to consider Milwaukee cause they aren’t struggling with this. Time to make the batteries and chargers compatible again.
-Sincerely, A powerless tool

Can't kill this battery, I've tried.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Leaving reviews is not my thing. However, this battery earned it's spot in my tool box and changed my overall tool collection significantly. I bought this battery and the atomic circular saw in 2019. Spring of last year, 2022, while working on a utility project, I put the battery on the charger and decided that the wheel well of my truck was a good place to keep it out of the sun. So, leaving for lunch, the F250 tattooed this battery and charger to the dirt. Getting to the point here, what it doesn't do: look pretty, what it does do: runs my tools like a champ. I now have replaced most all my every day tools with Dewalt. Some of which are USA made. In a world where it seems like our tools just don't hold up or last anymore it's nice to own something that has taken a beating and keeps on trucking. There are still plenty of tools I'd like to get for my home shop and work, when I do they will be Dewalt.

Stopped fully charging very quickly.
These batteries were a vast improvement over the 2AH batteries I had, while they lasted. Less than three months into use at my new job they stopped fully charging (2 out of 3 lights) and have vastly diminished capacity. I’ve been trying to initiate a return/replacement with DeWalt but haven’t gotten any response. Disappointed in what once was my go-to tool company.

Why can't I buy the 18V battery anymore?
So I purchased a few Dewalt products in the past, all taking an 18V battery but now all the new products use at least a 20V. You also can no longer purchase the 18V either. I'm stuck with all these tools that I can't use. Buyer beware on any of their products. I've switched to Milwaukee Tools. They're much better anyway. Wish I would have known!

I dont know what these people that are writing bad reviews are doing. But i have 12 xr batteries and lots of brushless xr tools and have had ththeththem for at least 5 years. All mine charge just fine the 4ah and 5ah run sawzall just fine as well as impacts and grinder with pretty good run time. Never had one quit yet. Use them every day for work.

Great Addition to my Set
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had my 1/4 impact driver for 6-7 years now and just decided to buy these 5ah to see if there was a difference from the 1.5ah that came with my impact. Best decision since my purchase of my impact driver combo! The power these batteries give and the length between charge times is perfect! Also made my small blower so much stronger too!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Four tools, one battery
I got this battery with my string trimmer and it has been a rock star performer! I have used it in my jigsaw, my impact driver, and now with my reciprocating saw. It's gone through a full two seasons of remodeling projects and is giving me great service. It also has charged in two different chargers. I really want to get another one!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Battery anomaly
Decided to switch over to Dewalt for battery compatibility and purchased extra batteries. One died after a couple of charges. For the most part I am happy but to have something fundamental as a battery issue ruin Dewalt dependability and my confidence I might think twice about the next tool I buy. These batteries should be recalled.

Love the 5.0Ah XR battery
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the 20V MAX 5.0Ah XR battery. This battery just goes and goes. I work up in a bucket or gaff up poles, so having the ability to verify the battery’s remaining charge saves me from getting stuck in the air with a dead tool. I just check it before I go up and swap it with a charged battery if I need to, BEFORE I go up.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Battery Life is Amazing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased two of these batteries and I loved them. Unfortunately they both went bad but until they went bad, they were the best batteries EVER! DeWalt easily replaced the batteries and now I have two batteries that I love. Thank you DeWalt!
P.S. The only reason I gave this a 4-star is because I had two batteries go bad.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Stopped holding a charge
I bought this battery in September, and about 2 months later it stopped holding a charge. Rather disappointing for it to crap out in such short time, especially when I only used it maybe 3 times. I didn't leave it on the charger. Also frustrating that it is such a short warranty. Typically very happy with dewalt

Won't charge right out of the sealed package
2 years ago
So I bought the big DCF899B impact wrench and this DBC205 battery. The new battery's fuel gauge shows 1 light of charge out of the package. I put it on the DCB112 charger and it flashed dual red lights twice, then added the orange third light for a second then went to solid dual reds signifying a full charge. I also put it on a DBC107 charger with similar results. This is disappointing. I'm wondering if I should return this wrench and battery before adding more yellow tools to my collection. Two of my buddies switched over to the red brand of tools. If a battery doesn't charge right out of the box, how can I give it get any stars for anything? I have a couple of brake jobs planned for this weekend. Guess I'll just be busting my knuckles one more time. Happy to review this again if I get a working product when I return this one. I didn't want to switch to red, but the reviews on this product are terrible and this is so frustrating! Hope to get some kind of response.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Disappointed in the batteries.
I bought a 2 pack of the 5.0 AH batteries in 02/22. I was surprised when they both would go flat after only a week. A full charge only shows 1 or 2 lights on the meter. At the same time as I got these, I bought a drill/driver set with 2.0 AH batteries that hold the charge for months.

very disappointed in this battery I used it very very lightly just for blowing leaves off tennis courts mainly in the fall and I've only used it two years and the batteries already gone.
Also the nozzle on the blower never locked in correctly, it was always loose ???

Junk batteries

After years of great products Dewalt has changed. My last 3 battery purchases have been dreadful. Won’t charge after a few months. Forced me to try the knockoffs since Thierry cheap and will probably last the same life. Love my Dewalt tools. Hating the batteries.

Expensive junk!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Battery only lasted a couple months. A lot of money for a "Premium Brand" battery that is garabage. I may be switching away from Dewalt after swearing by them for years. Better improve, the word is getting around about Dewalt's new standards of quality.

limited torque might because battery protection
5 years ago
DCF899+DCB115 charger+DCB205 5AH all new, tried to loose four 10mm bolts (wrench size 14mm) of Honda front engine mount, two cannot loose after WD40 used.
In seconds the battery might be in protection mode - delay led lid - thus limit the DCF899's torque.

Gift for me on Father's day in 2018. Battery 2018 13-47, 20vmax XR 5AH to accompany a blower. The battery will no longer charge. My older 10V batteries still operate drills/saws/blower. Not sure why this one took a dump. Really sad for the price.

Quality

Purchased several batteries over the years, some hold a charge and some do not. I have found that too often the charger itself is to blame, chargers seem to be built cheaper. Too often I have to plug the battery in and play with it to fully engage.

Best balance of weight vs runtime
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These batteries are the perfect balance between weight and runtime for nearly all the 20v hand tool lineup. Circular saw, reciprocating saw, router, gigsaw and orbital. Will last easily all day long in smaller tools like drills or impact drivers.

Year later and 40 charges my 5 AMp are going strong!
I guess I’m on my drills my circular saw and my small Dewalt chainsaw and they’ve done a wonderful job with all. They occasionally get hard to use with a chainsaw but still hold a good charge

More power longer runtime
I bought these to get more runtime over my 8 year old 1.5ah batteries and got more power as a bonus. My DCB101 charges them fast enough that if I need to I can keep cycling them staring out even if I'm mixing thin-set with my drill.
