20 V. 5 .0 Ah hedge trimmer
Bought this trimmer last week and used it yesterday for the first time. This trimmer is an animal. it easily cuts through 3/4" branches and works great. It is a little heavier than a corded trimmer but not enough to make a difference. It balances out by not having to drag an extension cord around. Very nice product. You don't realize how much easier trimming decorative shrubs it is until you walk around one trimming it then on to the next one. No hassle untangling the cord or walking back around to "unwrap" the cord to move on to the next. The 5.0 Ah battery is a big plus also. One charge and I used it for over 4 hours of trimming. The only issue I see is that it does not have a trigger lock. Other than that it's a GREAT PRODUCT.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent Trimmer
I bought this trimmer about a month ago. I love that it's compatible with standard DeWalt 20 V batteries (and the 5 Ah included battery is a great asset to the rest of my tools). It's sharp and made quick work of the shrubs. It's not too heavy which allows my wife to use it who honestly does most of the hedge maintenance but robust enough that I think it will last for years of use. My only concern is that the safety on the trigger feels a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the build but I'm otherwise I'm quite satisfied.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Impressed
I am a contractor and own various dewalt tools. I have only owned gas trimmers in the past but i decided to give this hedge trimmer a shot figuring worst case scenario it doesn’t work well and a get another battery for my other tools. This trimmer exceeded my expectations. I did trimming on 2 seperate properties. Battery held up for both. It’s light weight and easy to hold. Cuts really well and Even cut a few branches the size of my finger w ease. Highly recommend! Went from being skeptical to very impressed
Yes, I recommend this product.

Easy to use
I bought this hedge trimmer a little over a year ago and I wish I had baught it earlier; It is so easy to use for many jobs as well as trimming shrubs. I use mine for cutting back liriope (monkey grass) and lantana in the fall as well as trimming back my juniper ground covers. I have two 5ah batteries so I can do an endless amount of trimming without worrying about running out of battery. They run about four hours of trimming and there is plenty of time for charging and having another charged and ready.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Stopped working
I purchased this trimmer for personal use and within 9 months while trimming my shrubs for less than 10 times the trimmer stopped working. I would estimate the tool was used for maybe 2 hours total in the 9 months I had it. I took the battery out and replaced it after charging it again. It would work for a few seconds and then shut off again. I shipped it to a Dewalt service center for repair. The online portal clearly states the battery not to be shipped with the product as it is not covered under the warranty. I did not ship the battery per the instructions. I also gave a brief description of the problem on the portal. A week later I received the tool back and immediately tried it to make certain it worked properly. Immediately within about 10 seconds it shut off just like it had done previously.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Bad battery pack
The fuel gage on the battery showed one of three green lights were lit upon opening the box. I charged the battery for 24 hrs and it never increased. I was able to trim my hedges and it cut nice and clean but lasted less than 15 minutes. Tried charging again for 24 hrs and never got more than one green light. The charger showed blinking red with yellow for a short time then stayed solid red. This unit is going back for a refund. Very disappointed with Dewalt quality.

Best Battery Trimmer Out There
Had this for several months. Works great at trimming everything from woody bushes to evergreens to vines. It cuts with minimal effort and the battery will last for a couple of hours of use. Balance on the trimmer is great with the battery attached. I would recommend that the sheath for the trimmer blade be a little nicer with a pull handle on the end for easier slide on and off. Other than that you will be hard pressed to find a better trimmer on the market.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Cut the cord
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had another brand trimmer that used a cord. Figured since I only trimmed the bushes twice a year that it was good enough. I was wrong! I got this to go along with my 20v work tools and now my hedges look great. I trim them up much more than I used to because it is so easy. I have the blower, weed eater, chainsaw etc that all use the same battery system. Plus now I don’t have to worry about cutting the cord while trimming the bushes. Great tool.
