Poor quality
Purchased this drill in 2008 for my vacation home and used it twice for tapcons, it went back the box and there it sat. I had a project that required 16 1/2" holes in concrete, it failed after 5. I pulled out my old blue competitors brand drill that has been used at least weekly for the past 25 years, repaired the cord and finished the job with no issues. When I finished the job I disassembled both drills and the design and quality differences were obvious.
I have bought blue corded tools all my life and swayed in this case for a few bucks. I guess that lemon yellow colour should be a warning.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Not really Heavy Duty
I'm a DeWalt lifetime user. Almost all the tools I have are DeWalt so when I needed an electric drill I bought this one. Have had just over a year and use infrequently but want it to be there when I need it. Today while drilling a 3" hole in a 2x4 the internal shaft snapped. Motor still works but chuck doesn't spin. Not the quality I had expected. Going to have to start looking for another power tool company that can build quality into their products. So disappointed after all these years.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Gets the job done...fast!
I bought this drill yesterday when my old hammerdrill decided it didn't want to run in the forward position anymore. I was in a pinch with time so I didn't have time to look at reviews or try to get the best deal. This drill has the most bang for the buck and "it's made in the US"! I had to drill through the brick on my house to make a hole for new A/C lines. It ate right through! Nothing like my old drill that took forever. The warranty is excellent at 3 years. Not that I think I will need it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

More than 10 Years and Still Running Like New!
I came to this site for a drill case and decided to do a review of the DW511 drill. I have had this drill for more than 10 years. I mostly use it on small projects around the house and for a few bookshelves and cabinets that I built for home use over the years. I do not know how it performs on large jobs or with constant use. But, it has never failed me. For my purposes, this has been an outstanding investment and I'm very pleased with the consistency and quality.

JUNK
I have purchased two of these models and both of them turned out to be GARBAGE. They each were used less than a half a dozen times. On the first one the spindle gear just snapped off. On the second one the spindle gear rounded off and would no longer touch the other gears. I will never buy another DeWalt tool, until they adopt a LIFETIME warranty.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to have a cheaper brand hammer drill. It eventually broke. I have cordless drills and hammer drills, but every once in a while I need a corded drill for longer use/ more power. I knew that the DeWALT drill was one I could trust. I was right, this tool I have had for a few months now, and it has yet to disappoint.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Seems to kick out of gear when drilling a hole
a year ago
I bought this drill about 6 or so years ago, I would not have drilled 200 holes with it, ( wood and steel) and is now kicking out of gear when drilling holes and I tried calling call centre to confirm if its under warranty and just got frustrated going through that process.. Looks like only 3 yr warranty

Works Great
I bought this drill to be able to drill into block wall in order to frame a basement bathroom. I have used it for many other projects since. I think that I can switch between the hammer drill and regular. The drill is fantastic and very powerful.
Yes, I recommend this product.
